  1. Hey Bartkat and Smooth, Thanks for the replies. Your help in diagnosing this problem is much appreciated. I have actually already replaced the cabin air filter that is located behind the glovebox (and yes it was really dirty with leaves and everything). And now that I think of it, the sound may have began to appear sometime after that filter was replaced. But the sound that I'm hearing sounds more like a fluid being pumped through some mechanical device. The sounds can be best described as winding and clicking. Are there any fluids or anything that I can check the levels of? Thanks
  2. Hi All, I had a post a couple months back about a mysterious and annoying pumping sound and got some good feedback that it might be the result of having not enough engine coolant fluid. I added some and it seemed to resolve some of the sounds I was hearing. However, I've recently noticed another very annoying sound that seems to be coming from just behind the glove box. The best that I can describe, it sounds like an electrical pump. There is some clicking, pumping, and churning going on. It doesn't happen ALL the time but a lot of the time. I can't seem to associate it with any specific driving behavior. Can anyone help? This pump sound is haunting me! Thanks.
  3. Meguiar's Heavy-Duty Vinyl Cleaner for stains and stuff, Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Conditioner and Armorall Leather Care for keeping things moisturized. I think those are decent products :) I haven't ever touched the headlights yet so I dunno that answer, but I'm positive someone will. As far as fuel additives go I like the BG44k stuff... Or anything BG is legit I think. Hey thanks for the response. More specifically I had put something in my back seat that was spray painted and some of the paint came off onto the leather. I'm looking for a product to clean it safely. I picked up some Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner. Are all of their products pretty reliable? Or should I pick up something more specific? I'm trying out the Lucas product and just wanted to see how other ppl liked it. It's too bad they don't say what's in these additives on the product's bottle. Thanks for the reco on the BG products. Like a lot of others, I'm trying to optimize my MPG and performance on my stock engine. Does anyone know a good product to clean the MAF sensor once I get to it? Also, any links to DIY instructions on cleaning 02 sensors, throttle body, etc?
  4. Hi Everyone, Thanks in advance for any replies. I've got a couple of easy questions: 1. Anyone have any experience with using the "Lucas Fuel Treatment" product? 2. Anyone have any recommendations for interior leather cleaning/conditioning products? 3. Is it possible to replace the front left (left from the driver's prospective) Lowbeam bulb ('01 IS300) without removing the headlamp unit? The space behind the cap where the bulb is located is pretty freakin' small. 4. Anyone know any good shops to get everyday maintenance work done in San Diego, CA? Cheers!
  5. I have read the post with the diagram of the back of the headlight but I have a more general question about replacing the HID bulb on an '01 IS300. Do you need to detached the headlight from the chassis of the car before you can open the plastic cover where the bulb is housed? Does anyone have a link or a post or specific directions on how to do the whole process (which bolts to remove, how the headlamp slides out, etc.). I spent some time trying to get access to the bulb housing but was unsuccessful. Thanks in advance.
  6. Thanks everyone for the response... Bartkat, do you mean I should jack up the front, turn the heater on, and fill with coolant to see if the gurgling stops? I'll try this out...
  7. Hi Everyone, I am a new IS300 owner. I bought an '01 about two weeks ago and I've been noticing the same type of sound. I was wondering if anyone has found the cause yet. Mine sounds like "gurgling" as well, like fluid traveling through a hose with bubbles in it. It's very strange and was making me really nervous until I found this thread. However, I'm still very curious and appreciate any response. Also, anyone have any suggestions on where to take these cars for maintanence? I hear slight squealing during braking and one of my headlights is out. Is there a good aftermarket solution to the headlight or is the dealership the way to go? One more thing, anyone know a good product for cleaning of polished alloy rims? Thanks in advance.
