  1. Price wise, it is great. Buy it. Make sure everything is in order though. Sounds too good to be true.
  2. You should start your own thread on this. There are mods for the 1st gen. It just depends on what it is you want.
  3. Output will depend on the type of HID. There are reflector and projector types. With all things equal, the 4100k will be brighter than the 6000k by a little. The color is whiter with the 6000k. As for Phillips, the ballasts are used in many OEM systems so it is just seen as more reliable.
  4. I agree that some responses were a little over the top but disagreeing does not mean hate. When posting on a publicly viewed forum, you should expect good and bad responses. As long as the owner likes it, that person should just read the responses and go drive the car s/he enjoys. These are just words anyway. ;) It all comes down to tastes and what you are used to. Forget 22s, some people are already not liking 18s. That is just their taste. Nothing wrong with it. From all the pics I've seen, I just can't get used to anything over 20s. I went from 16s to 18s to 20s. With 20s, if the face is a forward design with no lips, I think it is too big too. But when the face is recessed behind some lips, it looks perfect to me, and I stress to me. :) There is an aesthetic balance and I think 19s and 20s work well with the body of the GS. For others, the numbers are different. We can just all agree to disagree and enjoy our own cars. :D
  5. Unless you have to have an 02, you can probably get an 01 GS430 for that price area. Unless you plan to go FI (then get the GS300), go for the 430. :)
  6. Not sure what you mean. As far as model year is concerned, the 97 and the 94 are the same cars. Although sold in 97, the 2nd Gen GS started as a 98 model. Are you asking if a 2nd Gen front end will bolt onto a 1st gen front end? If so, I don't believe so.
  7. This mod will work on the 98-05 GS. The 01-05 has a different shape but it will still work. As a matter of fact, the 02-03 SportDesign version of the GS300 comes with the larger slat "chromed". :) As for removing the grille, I can't remember how many bolts (3?) there are. It has been awhile since I looked. ;) Just open up the hood and look at the back of the grille. It should be pretty evident.
  8. LSD and TC has been done on a GS430. The only thing is that the TC has been known to throw the CEL on most GS430 (and not GS400). I say most because there has been a few instances that I've read that the CEL did not come on. NOS on the other hand is more rare on the GS across all the 300, 400, and 430 so there is not a whole lot of documentation on it. You may have to do it and report the results back. :)
  9. The GS350 AWD is coming out next year and it will have over 300hp. ← I agree. As nice as the new GS430 is, the GS350, GS450h, and GS460 are coming around the bend. Unless you have to get one now, I'd wait.
  10. I run into 10, 14, 17, 21 when working on things here and there on the GS.
  11. Headers benefits are really untested on the GS300. Because of this, they are not a popular mod. Unfortunately, any info on header fitment and gains would come from new pioneers who are willing to risk buying and installing a set.
  12. The SRT website is lackluster to say the least. They are still building turbos, though. I know that they have been working on 2 GS400TT cars. One just got done with a bit of fine tuning left and the other nearing completion. I cannot remember the exact numbers but the first one is looking at 5-600 rwhp and the one that is almost done is going for 700. RMM did make an SC for the GS400 but these are discontinued. Used ones crop up periodically though. Other than that, you are looking at many custom ones around different areas. Since you are in GA, a couple of guys have had their cars turbo'd at Mahdavi's.
  13. The brakes on the 06 GS430 are bigger than the ones on your GS. You definitely will not need spacers. :)
  14. Although it does not mean they are not out there, I hear of very few header installs. The 01-05 IS and 01-05 GS300 has pretty much the same engine. (The 98-00 ones are slightly different.) Headers for these IS and GS3 should fit although with so little info, no one knows for sure until they are installed.
  15. Some cars can be "chipped". Unfortunately, the GS (or the other Lexus cars) cannot.
  16. :whistles: ← Hey, dude can you post some pic's of your black widow? ← How's this:
  17. At one point, Xerd made a set for the IS300 that fits on the GS300. I was hearing that their service was not that great though. I know one GS300 owner who put them on and then removed them. I can't remember why though.
  18. The JP ones are the ones selling for $1350. They use OEM components. The ones that were being designed by LuxuryMods do not use OEM components. They never really set a price yet either. $300 was only the bottom of the price range. With that said, I have not heard any updates either.
  19. It might have been TTE. RMM also did a V8 swap too but kept it an auto. There are at least a couple of private swap/manual setups form private owners too.
  20. Yup. Look at Lexus.com's model library. They removed the 98 and 99 model years but you can see the 2000. In 2001, the car had a refresh and became the GS430. The 98-05 GS was considered 2nd Gen although there were no "first gen" GS4x0 since the first gen was a GS300 only.
  21. Try giving these people a call: https://www.lexuskeys.info/ They have helped other Lexus owners and know what they are talking about. Worth a shot.
