  1. Well, for a couple of hundred more, you can have this (full mirror, not cover):
  2. Seems like a common problem. If you are still within warranty, run don't walk to the dealer and get it replaced. If the warranty is over, I've heard of some successes with Lexus Customer Satisfaction and potentially escallating to Lexus Corp Pres. There is some persistence and hard work involved going down that path though. Otherwise, buy another one like you said or live with it.
  3. Last week I was at Lexus of Pleasanton to look at an ES for my Mom. I was also peeking at the IS just to see and the sales guy told me to take 5k off the MSRP for any IS on the lot. I was not interested in an IS so I did not engage him further. I don't know if that's a good deal or it was an end-of-month thing or if that offer is still good. I just thought I'd pass on what I was told.
  4. Well, I have not seen anyone sell a complete mirror with the turn signal light. The best solution I've found is this guy who for $600 and your current set of mirrors, will retrofit a Mercedes signal lamp into the mirror. This is all the parts (except the mirror), cutting, molding, and painting. Obviously, you still need to wire it up once you get it back but this is the case with any new electronic.
  5. And to elaborate, the Tom's are covers for your existing side mirrors. They are not stock replacements.
  6. Are you talking about running the Supra TT rear setup or the big front one in the back? I hope it is not the latter since it will mess up your braking balance. On top of that, I don't think it would clear a low-disc setup. As for running the actual rear TT caliper, I don't know. There may actually even be fitment/bracket problems. I can do some digging to see if there is any info. The StopTechs and the Rotoras are the two most "forgiving" calipers in terms of fitment. The StopTech 4-corners upgrade actually uses the same calipers. You can download that template to see if it will fit in the rear wheel. The difference between the 4-corner and the front upgrade is that StopTech uses different piston sizes to enable balanced braking. The front-only upgrade and the fronts of the 4-corners are actually different. The 6/4 kit from Rotora is relatively new. The space requirement is big but with your high-disc setup, you probably are OK. As for the rear, I am not sure but I would think they are reusing the same calipers as the ones for the 4-piston front only upgrade. Here are some pics for ya. Rotora: StopTech: Front: Rear:
  7. Hey MrSypher, Just a few things I've heard. Wilwood are great for racing but not very good for street driving. This is something I was told by someone I trust when I was looking at Wilwood. I can get more details if you are set on them as a choice. StopTechs do not make a 6-piston setup but they do have a very sweet 4-piston 14" rotor setup for all 4 corners. I am actually partial to AP racing 6-piston but these won't clear my wheels. In case you have not considered them, Rotora has a 6-piston front 4-piston rear setup. Their 4-piston front setup is clearance friendly but this 6/4 setup is not. From what I can tell from the preliminary template, it needs even more space than the APs.
  8. Just remembered a couple more minor things that might be issues. The radio display LCD can go bad. Mine is doing this but it does not bother me too much since I will eventually put in an aftermarket system. I've also head of the door lock actuators going bad but this does not happen to everybody. :)
  9. See if you can take the car to the dealer and have them run diagnostics on the car. They can also pull the service history on the car, assuming the previous owner had their service done at Lexus. Of course, they'll charge you a few hundred for this but if it gives you a little more peace of mind before making the purchase, it is worth it. I would still caution that this procedure won;t find EVERYTHING that is wrong. Things to watch out for: condensation in the headlights and rattles in the dash/glovebox. These are minor things but can be an issue. Year wise, your car should still be under warranty but the mileage might not. Double check. If somehow, it is still under warranty, I'd get these annoyances fixed. The condensation is hard to tell unless you are in the right weather conditions. The rattle is obvious if it is there. There may be a few other things that may be slipping my mind. As for the 60k service, it should be between 800 - 1300 depending on the dealership and what they are listing as part of the service. There should be a list of things required in the manual. You can actually select things that you can do and go in and have the dealer perform the things you want them to. Just talk to the service advisor. You can probably whittle the price down to between 400 - 600. You just have to do the rest yourself. Since you are just buying the car, it may not be a bad idea to do some of the service at the dealership to have them look over the car. I have a GS300 with about 74k miles on it. No major issues. I would not hesitate to recommend this car to anyone. Good luck.
  10. Congrats on the car. Like MrSypher said, probably 0 power gains. If your car includes the L-Tuned exhaust, there may be a little. I have not seen specs on the L-Tuned exhaust but it probably is not enough to give you a real noticeable gain, maybe single digit HP. VVT-i. Just a badge the previous owner probably added. It just reiterates one of the technology of your engine. ;) Red calipers - paint them. No one sells stock red calipers. If you want to upgrade brakes though, you are limited in choices. But you do have choices, which is a lot better than some other members out there. The L-Tuned wheels will actually clear 3 brake upgrades: the Rotora 330, the StopTech 332, and the StopTech 355.
  11. That's what they look like to me too. When I read your post, I thought they might be the L-Sportline upgrade brakes since those are also blue. The pics though are not of the L-Sportline.
  12. Those are 18" Gewalt Reverse 3pc Rims. I will let KVA chime in about size and offset. I believe his suspension is Bilstein Shock and Eibach Pro Kit. Hope this helps.
  13. Very important point in big brake upgrades, especially the huge TTs.
  14. Hi just joined. :D Like xsuperjoex suggested, the Supra TT is the least expensive way to get larger brakes. I am not familiar with the Corsicas but make sure it can handle a big brake upgrade though. Since the calipers are larger, you just need to make sure there is enough room. This is true with most big brake upgrades. Else, you can go to better brake pads. EBC green pads seems to work well with minimal brake dust and at an affordable price. Good luck.
