  1. Very well said. It is absolutely imperative that when one has a question - the basic info is included - year & mileage.... Jeff
  2. I would replace the pads with ceramic pads only - not carbon metalic. If you ask the dealer with their OEM brake pads are made of, you will find out that they are ceramic. Jeff
  3. This problem needs to brought to Lexus's attention. Let us know what you find out. If it happens again, just throw it into neutral & apply brakes. Geez, never have heard of this problem before with any Lexus.... Jeff
  4. check rear brakes - could be out of round rotors or time for brake pads. just a suggestion.
  5. the cold start injector is attached to the underside of the air intake chamber, it is not attached to the intake manifold as you were lead to believe. Private message me with your e-mail address & I can send you the procedure for replacing it. Dont let the dealer do it. They will rip you off. If you are mechanically inclined, you can do this job. It will take some time thou. Be patient. What is your problem that you need to replace your cold start injector ???? Jeff
  6. DO NOT use ATF Dextron III or IV in your car. Use only ATF T-IV. This is the successor of ATF T-II. Purchase it from the Toyota dealer. It will be cheaper. Lexus will charge you about $ 39 / gallon. You can buy ATF T-IV from the Toyota dealer for about $3.50 /qt. Best buy would be a case for about $40 or so from the Toyota dealer. Exact same stuff the Lexus dealer will sell you. Trust everything on this one. The transmissions in these cars are very sensitive to low tranny fluid. They will slip if a quart or two low. Jeff
  7. what year is your car ?????????? Always include year either in your profile or signature or in your question so members know & can efficiently answer your question.... Thanks Jeff
  8. 1994400 - your procedure should be the same as Curt's '93 procedure he sent you....follow that & you will be ok.... Jeff
  9. I have not replaced the starter, but I tore down to it to hot dip my intake manifold & air intake chamber & clean my throttle body. I agree it is real tight there where you described. It is in your best interest to disconnect engine wire from wire bracket on RH cylinder head, drain coolant, disconnect heater hoses from rear water by-pass joint & water by-pass pipe, & remove rear water by-pass joint ( 4 bolts & 2 gaskets ) for proper access to starter & its bolts. Good luck...Just think how much you are saving by working on it yourself Jeff
  10. Curt - is that a statewide law - where insurance co can not insist on a deductible for glass breakage or just a personal preference on your policy ? Interesting ..... Jeff
  11. Curt - I agree - people need to indicate what year their car is, so that other members can help them for that specific year......all too often the question has to be asked..... As you & I can see, it is a different procedure from '92 to '93....i believe on my '92, the jumper wire needs to stay intact while going thru grounding process....do you see it that way for DTC 41 ?
  12. wally - is 2K just for the 90,000 mile service or does that include the shocks as well....seems like alot of money to me...... Buying a set of factory shop manuals ( $150 ) & doing it yourself is alot cheaper...... Those manuals will save you thousands over the years. Jeff
  13. Curt - during the grounding procedure of terminals Tc & AB alternately, is the jumper wire between the two still connected as well ??? Unsure per the procedure in my '92 LS service manual. airbag.pdf
  14. at least on my '92 LS400, I had to remove air intake chamber & intake manifold to get to my starter. Attached is pic. On a '95 is yours located here ? I would look into getting that trouble code check soon. Or have mechanic clear the code, & see if it comes back in a few days. Something smoking underneath your hood is not normal. what kind of mechanic is that!!! Only having 2 screws left over from a big job is nothing.... There should not be any......find a another mechanic that doesnt have that attitude..... He is not very conscientious about his work..... Nothing short of right is right..... Jeff
  15. skperf - on my '92 LS-400, I didnt have to remove the head, just the intake manifold. Why would one have to remove the head, seems odd to me ? LS400er - the tube he replaced bolts on to the back of the air intake chamber. I dont believe that is the source of the problem. I agree with sk, there is some kind of blockage or the missed puttting a line back on. That is alot of work to replace starter & EGR tube. If you dont mind, how much did that set you back ?? Jeff
  16. Matthew - will the database be restored to include all missing posts up thru 11/21/03 - there was a alot of good inform between 9/15 thru 11/21. Just curious. Jeff
