  1. took about 5 days to get an appointment and got the loaner the same day, a 2005 es330
  2. i had the same problem with my ls. it was the rack that was bad
  3. my 92 sc doesn't chirp :(
  4. friend of mine had the same problem. he cleaned the seats with leather cleaner, cleaned the windows really well, sprinkled the carpet with carpet freshner, and left the windows down a lot. after a few weeks, you could not smell the smoke. he also used canned air frehners. :)
  5. from what i recall, it'srews that hold the cover on over the license plate bulbs
  6. check both of your license plate bulbs, happened to a friend of mine and a bulb was out. the light went out after the bulb was replaced. it should be 2 bulbs, one on each side of the plate i believe.
  7. he probably has it set up so that the fog lights will come on with the lights on dim, like on cars with fog lights. have you tried it on dim?
  8. my sc does the same thing. it's like heat is coming through the front console area
  9. run as fast as you can, runnnnnnnnnnnn
  10. do you have to disconnect the battery to do this job?
  11. i just got my car back from the dealer with the new rack and pinion. i think i have a new car. when i bought the car, i always thought that the steering was too stiff and that the car wandered too much at high speeds. now the power steering is like a powering steering should be, really easy to turn and the car does not wander at high speeds anymore. i use to get a vibration when first driving the car, after it sat for a while. i thought it was flat spots in the tires and now that's gone. the dealer did and awesome job and the the 2005 es330 loaner was nice also. they had to order the part so i got to keep the loaner for 6 days, since they did not work on weekends. thanks guys for all the help. my ls now handles as a ls should. it almost handles as good as my 75 caddy, just kidding ;)
  12. are up sure you had the mpg figured out correctly when it was warm? i have never known a 92 ls to get that good of mpg in the city, driving in any kind of weather. 17 in the city, in the winter, sounds excellent to me. i don't think the car was rated much more than that for city driving when it was new
  13. he said it will run about $800.00 parts and labor. he said the boot should be dry on on the inside since it's purpose is a dust boot
  14. thanks guys for all the help. i am taking in to the dealer next week to put a new rack on. the service tech told me to only worry about the boot if it starts leaking fluid and it is. when you rub your finger in the hole on the boot, it's a lot of wet fluid in there and the boot is covered with fluid on the bottom of it. after he told me how the rack flows fluid, i was told that the seal is bad on the end of the tie rod by the boot and that is why it has fluid in it. hopefully, he is telling me the truth????????? :( thanks
  15. can you buy a rack and pinion boot that is split, like the cv boot, so you can replace the boot without taking the rack loose? thanks
  16. i guess i need to get it fixed now then :cries: they are big rips in 2 of the boot's creases and you can put your fingers in them and they are on the bottom of the boot :)
  17. i see that advance has a few to choose from also. http://www.partsamerica.com/SelectParts.as...%20%26%20Pinion the cheapest, i guess must not come with everything? how soon do i need to get this fixed? they have a picture to look at on the cheapest one and this is what i am in need of. thanks
  18. i just called Iron Toad. he says the car does not have front axel boots. he said it's the steering boot that i am looking at. i called toyota and lexus and they both gave me prices on front axel boots and axels. my mechanic looked up the labor cost for replacing the axel for the front and it was in the price book :(
  19. I noticed today that the passenger's side axel boot has 2 rips in it. :cries: It seems to have just happened recently. My mechanic says it's best to put a new axel on instead of replacing the boot. He said that people usually come back after a boot replacement and get the axel put on because the axel did not hold out after replacing the boot, because of debris that had gotten in the boot and axel. Lexus wants $90.00 for a boot and almost $800.00 for an axel. Any recommendation will be greatly appreciated and any cheaper places will be appreciated. I am trying to decide what to do before the axel goes bad. How soon should this be fixed, with driving it in the rain and all? Thanks :D
