mine makes that noise also. it's the heat shield cooling off. drive it without the air and you will probably still hear it.

can you better decribe the ping noise? i just know of the ping noise with cheap gas :D

the emergency brake shoes suppose to be thin? mine are thin in my sc400 and the mechanic that did my brakes said they were suppose to be thick and not almost paper thin as mine are?

i filled my 92 sc400 the other day. when the gas tank got near full, the gas started running out of the filler neck and would not stop until i put the gas cap back on. i removed the cap to see had it stopped and it poured out again, like it was being sucked out. this car is always hard to fill up, with the pump shutting off a lot before the car is completely full or with the gas just standing in the neck and you know the car isn't completely full. sometimes when you take the gas cap off on hot days, after driving it, you get a big air pressure release from the filler neck when !Removed! off the cap. any suggestions??????? thanks. adam

my 1992 sc 400 calls for 91 octane. wher i live, we have 89 and 93 but no 91. should i use the 93 or is the 89 okay? will it make that much of a difference? thanks.

i checked my owner's manual. it said it was normal for the car to consume oil because of of several reasons and because of highway high speed driving, which is 95% of my driving.

i just bought the car, this is my first oil change. i think she was using penzoil. i usually run chevron gas 93 octane

i need to change oil in my 92 sc400. do i have to remove the cover under the engine to get to the filter? i see the oil plug but not the filter. what kind of oil and filter should i use? i notive that the oil level is down about 2/3 of a quart and it's time for an oil change. is this normal since i tend to cruise it at 75-80 mph? the car has 85k miles on it. thanks

Hi, I am new to the club and have enjoyed it a lot. I was wondering are the shop manuals that are on CD, that I see on ebay, worth buying, especially the ones that say they include the entire shop manual? Also, will a 1993 SC400 shop manual work for the 1992 SC 400? How much are the original shop manuals in paper form? Thanks a lot.
