  1. yeah, just bought an 02IS, and experiencing the same/similar battery issues when it sits for awhile, any more info you have on that?
  2. That's the wierdest thing. I did my own tranny fluid change in my '92 es300 about 6 months ago and found the exact same piece in the pan when i dropped it, and nobody could tell me what it was. If you have had any further input on this i would appreciate hearing about. For the record my car has 286000 miles and still runs like new, even without the mystery piece in my transmission.
  3. i have also heard that it is not recommended to flush the tranny of a toyota/lexus that has high mileage (something about the excess debris actually making the fluid more dense, and thus keeping transmissions with high miles from slipping). i am now at the junction point with my 92 having extremely darkened fluid, and am very nervous about messing around too much with a car that has 269,000 miles on it. is the best bet just to change the fluid out?
  4. I have a 92 es300 and am eventually looking at selling that and getting a newer lexus, possibly a GS. Were any of the GS models ever offered with a manual transmission. I haven't found any information that would support that, but i figured this would be the place to ask.
  5. One of the main problems with just running away is that i just haven't found anything similar in this area. Minnesota is pretty dry right now in the sc market from what i've seen.
  6. I finally decided to get rid of my 92 es300 with 267k on it and move to the sc400. Currently the one i am looking at is a 97 with 147k. These miles are high, but i figure it isn't even half of what it is capable of. He is asking 9200 for it. It has pretty worn leather, a couple plastic pieces that are cracked, a little spot of rust above the rear wheel well and around the antenna, it needs a new valve cover gasket (this makes me nervous, what's the deal here?), and new brakes and tires. It's also missing a VIN tag on the front fender, not sure why. I also think i should probably check out the power steering as well. Is this a fair price, and should I be weary of any of these issues? Thanks, and i look forward to hearing what you have to say.
  7. I am in the process of pulling out the rear wheel bearings in my 92 with 268k on it. However, i'm not exactly sure what i need to relpace them. So far I have found just the bearing, as well as the bearing assembly. It seems as if they may be split between vehicles with and without ABS, but i'm not sure. The lexus dealer said all they had available was the hub and bearing assembly. I have no idea what part to order at this point, can anyone help me here?
  8. I'm interested in the CD Changer, and possibly some of the rear brake and hub assembly. E-mail: hangloose4@yahoo.com
  9. i had this same problem with my 1992 es 300. it ended up being the throttle body, it was first cleaned, and finally just replaced. so i'm not sure what the codes meant, but after the throttle body was replaced the problem went away. by the way, do you have any idea what i need to do to replace my rear wheel bearings?
  10. Before the rear wheel bearings went out this thing was running like a champ, tranny and engine felt new, seriously. The car was bought from a Lexus dealer, and since then my dad and i have4 been extremely diligant about maintenance. I personally see no signs that the head gasket needs to be replaced, furthermore, if i did the rear bearings, pads, and rotors, those parts are only like $200 all together. I'll pick up a manual and do the work myself, I'm just worried that tons of other stuff, after that many miles is going to start falling apart when i disassemble the whole rear for the bearings. Is it worth dumping about $200 into this thing just to see how much longer it will go before something else goes wrong? By the way, what manual do i need (i know this car isn't a perfect match to the 92 Camry)?
  11. I beleive i have a leaky head gasket and haven't changed the timing belt since 70,000 so i'm a little reluctant, i got a quote of $800. The thing is probably worth less than that, unless i think it's worth (is there a market for this?) parting it out, if so: how long does that thing have to sit in the, of what is currently my parents', driveway?
  12. My Cruise control finally went out, it was accellerating when it wasn't supposed to. Even when it was off it would just start accellerating. Something with either the vacuum pump or the solenoid (not sure which it has), but i think what it means is you have to disconnect it, or at least cut power to it when you are worried about it.
  13. hangloose4@yahoo.com I "bought" this thing from my dad when it had about 244,000 on it, so he took from 30,000. We did a number on this thing, a multi-four-digit number repair record, overheating issues, warped head, ugly. After that she delivered, but now my bearings in the rear need replacement, along with the brake pads, it's currently undrivable. Should I keep this thing?
