  1. Did your Father buy it for you?????????? All LS's get free 1k checkup. Then just in every 5k for the $100 oil changes. You've got full warranty for 4.yr - 50K miles. Read through your owners manual and learn about this magnificent auto :D :D Congats!! 99
  2. I've never bought a new LS but I offer my thoughts.... It's reasonable to assume the "best" deals come on "end of model year" cars. So, if you can hold out till September, that would probably get your best deal. This being said, I'd shoot for $5k off sticker, keep bugging the salesman for the next few months, and enjoy the process if you can wait. By Sept., maybe you could get $7k off - I believe that's very acheivable...
  3. Silver, A great discussion topic..... I have done it in the past on my older cars - with dino oiil. But haven't planned on it with the LS _ Especially with SYNTHETIC. Although I am open to hear the comments :D 5-30w is what's recommended, and since SYNTHETIC is SOOOOO DURABLE, I can't see it failing - I don't think the heat would get to it. I think the 5w is perfect for startups in any weather (especially COLD!) and the 30W can withstand the summer. Logic tells me : the temperature guage remains virtually the same in winter or summer, so the engine temperature must remain somewhat the same too. The oil itself helps maintain stable engine temps - especially the synthetic.
  4. Sorry...... Water Pump. It's usually changed with the Timing Belt, since yours is 91.....I'll assume its been done (every 60 or 90 K). Sometimes that green stuff is "rubbed" around the gaskets....then, if fluid leaks, it will turn color so that it can be more easily detected :D HOpe this helps.........
  5. Well, I could be a engine cleaner or similar. Also, if your WP has been replaced, it could be the sealant/gasket compound OR a type of product that was put on during the WP to check for leaks.....
  6. I use the K&N 2606 for my 99LS. Been in they're about 10 months & I check it every 4/5 months. To be honest..... I'm thinking about going back to the OEM filter. I want to see if they're is any difference - for me, I don't think it's measurable. I actually believe I will get same mileage or better with OEM...so I want to test it :D I'm the kind of guy who would rather change it every year anyway... So I could buy 3 OEM filters for the price of 1 K&N <_< 99
  7. I'd have them put the stock OEM wheels (from the 98 white) on the 97 black w/97K. Then you've got the classice 5 spokes - which I think are the best! Also would look like the 97 Coach Edition LS's :D . And......its $4500.00 less (one year older and 25k miles more ...but...engine is solid anyway....) 99
  8. Great news nelson!!! I've found that the new, fresh fluid even helps clean the "dipstick" cap; so it's helping. :D I plan of another flush too....let me know about the Toyota Dex III (color) and how it feels in comparison. Glad all is well - good job!! 99
  9. My thought would be the charcoal cannister - connected with the A/C system.??
  10. I'll assume your in "manual" mode with fan on too...... Cool air should slowly dissapate from the vents... I do this all the time in summer when I'm about 1/2 mile from my house. Turn a/c off, keep fan on low, and let cool air dissapate. This, I find, helps reduce the amount of "condensation" on the garage floor - a lot of it drips out by the time I get to my home. A picky thing I know....but that's the way I do it. I also believe is helps Prolong the A/C system... :D 99
  11. I had an 85 honda accord that started doing the same thing after about 10 years... Got a re-charge and it helped Big Time....I'm sure its due!!! 10 minutes is too long, should be getting cool within a minute or two for sure. Although, you may open Pandora's box withe the re-charge....its an old system and you may well find : leaks, faulty compressor, etcc... For just a re-charge - its worth a shot :D 99
  12. As many members have alluded........you can go to an AUTOZONE and get the trouble code read for free - since the "check engine" light is on. The code will help us pinpoint the problem. This trouble light comes on when you have a problem with the engine ECU, Transmisson ECU, or MAF problems......probably a few more. Anyway, an educated guess would be an O2 sensor malfunction - causes the engine to run rough. ON a side note: I believe it is a National law that you have the right to return any vechicle and get your money back - for any reason - within 3 days of purchase. 99
  13. Verrrryyyyy Innnterestinnnnnggggggggggggg..... Aren't there around 600,000 Honda Accords sold in a year..........\ .that's like a 100 to 3 ratio - That's one thing a Lexus dealer was actually correct on - that there are just not many LS's made! :D (and I"m glad of it ) Great work Jim!! 99
  14. Ayan, type in the words "antifreeze" ; "radiator"; "coolant" ; etc....- and you'll get many threads to choose from. heres a good one to start: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...3&hl=antifreeze TOYOTA LONG LIFE COOLANT ....get 2 gallons and 2 gallons of distilled water. Mix both up 50/50 to start. the post will guide you... 99
  15. Fredd, Gosh...I would hope they could be overridden......Should be, IMHO... B) On the auto seat belt, I almost got a ticket BECAUSE OF THAT FEATURE! I borrowed my neighbors van and it had the auto shoulder belt. Because of this, I forgot to latch the lap belt since I thought it was automatic. My luck, I got pulled over that day and the cop was all over me about it....He just gave a warning - thank goodness. So much for borrowing a neighbors car <_< 99
  16. Trick photo K9 You can't fool a photographer!!! :D Great shot though........looks good 99
  17. Denny, Got a costco just 1 mile from our house.....I've seen those chests before but never took a good look at them. I'll check one out.... B) 99
  18. Jim, From the document I have, all I see is that the car will: Unlock doors when car is put in PARK with engine on idle - the default setting is OFF. I'm not really sure how accurate my info is...I sent you a copy via email :D Did you know if you press and hold the unlock button on the transmitter - all the window AND the sunroof will open up!!! Pretty cool B) 99
  19. Aahhh, Got relatives in NW Ark (Gentry, Siloam Springs)...... Maybe we could have a meet in the "chicken farm capital of the US"

  24. Here's my second one.... Just used a "telescoping magnet" tool the other day. Saved my bacon :D I dropped a socke between the radiator & frame - just got the little tool and plunged her down to the socket....magetics work like a charm. I've need this tool before - clumsy me - now I'm glad I have it :D 99
