  1. Agree with completely Also, I set torque to 65 ft. lbs for FIRST STAR PATTERN, then I up it to 76 ft. lbs. and star pattern again :D
  2. Have you tried putting the seat all the way up and all the way to the front...... It will go a long way......................Then access from back seat?? Anyway, I think there's 4 bolts to loosen......I'm sure you'll here from 'blake918' pretty soon - he's done this before!!
  3. I think a 5-40 W synthetic is ideal
  4. Does this (and perhaps every Tranny) have "steering linkage"??? Sounds like worn or loose connection??? Maybe from the shifter to the tranny??
  5. blake, Just called local independent lexus shop - they are very good - this is what they say: All 95-97 LS owners have a similar complaint. The shop feels like it is due to the "higher idle" rpms that Lexus incorporated into the 98-97 design. On cold engine startup, rpms can go around 1800-2000! In about a minute or so, engine should "kick down" to around 12-1300 rpms, ANOTHER minute + and another kick down to 700-900 rpms. They know of your problem/complaint from many other customers who own 95-97 model year LS. Since you've said that the problem goes away after warming up (low 700 idle) - this seems to hit the nail on the head!!! 90-94's had lower ( 1300 rpms on startup) as does my Gen III ( 98-00) which has about 1200 rpms on startup. May I say it - sounds like a DESIGN FLAW for the Gen II LS's - But not to worry, they say no damage can result - just annoying!!! Anyway, check out the startup idling and time it out - see what happens to your car. Then wait at least until car is in 1200 rpm range for one test, and wait till it kicks all the way down to 800 or so for another. Let us know ! Good news is that you've got the right car for such a warm climate you're in!! should get to operating temp pretty quick!!
  6. Hybrid, For sure these are on the 98-00 LS's . And probably newer. But I was in slight error with what I posted: If you hold down the unlock for 1 sec. or so -- ALL the windows will roll down & SUNROOF will also retrack. Pretty cool looking! maybe this is allowed so on a hot day, you can "open up the LS" a lttle to help cool the 130 degree interior as your walking up to the car.....
  7. Qafas, Check out the detailing forum -- BLAKE918 has done some serious cleaning to his ES and LS - (really good stuff) Go get some Woolite (mix 1:5 with water) and the seats will come clean. Also, "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser" - found at walmart is good too!!
  8. welcome Qafas to LOC!! Glad to have another KC area owner!! Dittos what 1990LS400 said!!!

  14. Good points E!! The previous owner always went 5K on the dino oil and somtimes 7500.......... But my Amsoil looks nice and clean after 4k miles on it.... however, by JUNE it will have been 6 months / 6kmiles since last oil change, so I'll probably change it just for fun GREAT POINT ABOUT CHANGING OIL FILTER EVERY 6 MONTHS REGARDLESS!!!
  15. I am in Lee's Summit, Missouri -- LexLee Lexlee.......... So am I (lees summit)........ drop me pm sometime and we'll look at our machines 99
  16. Call local lexus dealer - parts dept.......
  17. I also have a question.... Do you guys start the car before pumping the brakes and then holding them down...
  18. Continental Premier Contacts get good reviews: comes in H & V rated also....
  19. I might just fly down to meet all you guys!!!!
  20. Agree completely with you and silvermate. It's a shame to loose those wheels and new tires on the wrecked LS :cries:
  21. Very nice! I'm not usually a fan of Mods ----but this looks pretty good :D Great Shots!!
  22. Chips, No offense, but you're difficult to follow. Please be more accurate on your punctuation/sentence structure. Yes, you should have air coming from all vents w/AC on. When the AC is off: you should NOT feel air if the side vent levers are CLOSED. However, its possible the rear vent has a manual closed/open lever. My 99LS does, but I've never checked it with AC on or off - too busy driving ;)
  23. Amsoil prints articles about how 'TRUCKERS" go 300,000 miles on a single oil change using the additional oil BY-PASS FILTER. They just change the oil filter @ 30-40K intervals and do a test. Top off with fresh oil and away they go Just crazy talk to me :o I only drive 12K a year, so I enjoy changing the oil. Amsoil has a product called XL-7500 syn oil that is geared for the 7500 mile changes. I'd prefer to always do the oil change within that interval (or even 5K) so I may go back to using it. I just purchased a case of their regular 5-30W ( the 25k oil- providing you change filter @ 12.5K) -- so I've got some time. Hey, even the Lexus owners manual only calls for oil changes every 7500 miles under normal conditions - and that's using dino oil This 1UZFE engine is an absolute beast, built to withstand & last!!!!!!!!!! So successful that now they've gone to the 2UZFE updated version since the original design has proved so good over 12 years. The engine is truely designed to deliver 400k miles - MINIMUM :D
  24. Well guys............. How was it?????
  25. I would doubt it, but take a look @ MICHEALSN's diagram on previous page. The Air Control Valve is labelled....so you'll know what to look for.
