  1. FWIW, we took our IS 250 AWD to Canada in November! Only difference is we live in Washington state....only a few hundred miles for us. But we did encounter some snowy, icy roads and the IS did just fine. Common sense is the best thing you can pack. Take breaks, don't over-do it, take your time and take lots of pictures. We were in the Canadian Okanogan in BC tasting lots of excellent wines....fantastic trip. Let us know if/when you head out. I love road trips!
  2. Couldn't agree more with Manolo1. Is it THAT important to make your car look cool while at the same time decreasing your visibility? Many European cars have rear fog lights, which work amazingly well in poor visibilty situations. Having said that, the IS is no doubt a pretty safe car in a rear end collision, so darken away....
  3. Why hello there my friend! What do you think of these? You can even do it yourself! http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=52056 They sound like just what you are looking for. And I'd take his word for it, he loves 'em and they make the IS look awesome!
  4. Great idea. Who wants to let us use their IS for the test? Maybe the guys who favor 87 octane can volunteer? Old issue, lame issue. Not even debateable. Chevron or 76 supreme is all we put in ours.
  5. DUDE! I'm wondering where you learned how to communicate with other humans? You try to get "attention" with the attitude? And then expect help after displaying such attitude? This is like the 5 year old in kindergarten acting out to get "attention". Take note, you are NOT in kindergarten anymore. Where did you buy this intake? Did you exhaust other sources of information to accomplish this install? Kindness begets kindness. Attidude begets no "little help" to install your intake. If you have any further questions, maybe if you just ask nicely, politely even, it might just result in a better response. No? For your sake, I hope this has been a learing experience. If not, this lesson is over.
  6. Well, there have been several helpful posts to the intake install question. And yet no response from the OP? Odd that the thread starts with attitude, but the fella says thanks in advance! In any case, good luck with the intake, and please realize that attitude doesn't go too far in here.
  7. Sadly, Subaru has pulled out of the WRC due to obvious economic reasons. Honda no longer has a F1 team. Sad times in the auto racing scene :(
  8. I was hoping it was your TIRE valves ;) Man, don't want to be using any dirty gas in you IS huh?
  9. My opinion, and mine only. Drifting is like certain types of music. Perhaps there is a display of some sort of talent, perhaps skill is involved, perhaps it's entertaining. I just don't quite get it. I could drift in the snow in my 1970 bug. It was awesome. I could control it perfectly. Then it just lost its attraction. It's really not that hard to do. Instead of drifting, if you want to see some driving skills, check this guy out... Just a tad more exciting, in my opinion. And safer. It's on a CLOSED course. Whatever you do, drive sanely please.
  10. Welcome RS6Chick! 1. Do a search on these forums. Excellent "how to" on the oil change. I've done it three times now. It's WAY easy really. 2. We have an 07 with appx. 22K. We've had it over two years. No problems really. The dash has some weird creaking now and then. No mechanical issues whatsoever. 3. If I ever get a Subaru WRX-STi, maybe. But we don't race the Lexus. It's just not that type of car, and I won't pretend it is. 4. I'd not opt for the extended warranty. Not worth it. The cars are very well built, and built to last. 5. Not worried about deprectiation...we're gonna keep it for awhile, so for us it's a non-issue. I will say this, though. The IS will be WAY different than your RS6. Just go drive one and you'll see. I've never driven an RS6, or even an A6. I have driven VW 1.8T's, and A4's. ANY car with a turbo will feel different than the IS. Yes, there is a "power band" or curve that you feel, but it's not a turbo, nothing like it. Even the Volvo S40 we had before the IS, when the turbo kicks in, you feel the rush. Not there with the IS. The 350, maybe. But then you don't have the AWD. Maybe a 350 with dedicated snow tires? In any case, welcome, and let us know what you decide!!!
  11. So we have an appointment to get it fixed AGAIN. On the way home from work today, we discovered that the windshield that was installed yesterday (the second one) LEAKS!!!! There's water on the pillar on the passenger side. I must say it took all the self control I could muster to remain calm when dealing with Safelite on the phone today. Stay tuned for chapter three....
  12. Update. The same installer came back to my wife's work to correct our issues on the windshield. He admitted he'd never done an IS before and apparently the top molding was installed wrong. Well I checked it out just now ( at home in our garage )...UGH!!! Now the top molding is like pushed down. You can see the edge of the glass at the top. I can't remember now if this is right, but it doesn't seem right. Worse, the new windshield does not have the same curve as the roof!!! About the last four inches at either end at the top, you can see that the glass curves more than the roof of the car!!! This is ridiculous! We asked for an OEM windshield. This one is way off. The side molding is correct now, but this seems minor compared to the glaring un-matching of the curve at the top of the glass to the roof of the car. We will have to call them again, but I think I'm just going to call Safeco, our insurance company, and see what they say. What a frickin hassle!!!
  13. Well, here's a Tire Rack comparison of the OEM tires on the IS250AWD. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp...&loadRank=2 We have the Dunlops, and according to Tire Rack they are less than 1/2 the price of the Potenza's! In my opinion, they Dunlops are great tires! Doesn't look like you have AWD tho...lot's of help I am.
  14. You got the what scared out of you? Is that what I saw on the freeway the other day? ;) I know that the dash is quite a popper, that's for darn sure. Then, when you get a new windshield, you get even new noises to go with the popping!!! It's a Lexus SYMPHONY I tell you! Hopefully the newly acquired windshield noise will be rectified, and then we'll just have the solo popping....
  15. Yeah, that was the one. They had to change the side molding on my Subaru, but did it perfectly the second time. Now, on the Lexus, we have to give them a second try to get it right. Very frustrating.
  16. In the good news department : Took the IS up to the Okanogan area of BC for a bit of wine tasting (btw, they have a number of excellent wines!). Much to our surprise ( and apparently the weather forecasters as well ) it snowed, in some areas over 5 inches. Now mind you, the IS is my wife's car. I drive a Subaru and am partial to its AWD capabilities. The areas where wineries are, well, they are quite hilly. I am happy to say that the IS (250AWD) had no problems whatsoever with any hill. Took our time, of course, but I was quite impressed with the Lexus AWD. First time we've ever really had to see what it could do. Bad news : just had the windshild replaced on the IS. Safelite once again ( they did my Subaru about six months ago ) did a very poor job. The molding is not straight, and at the bottom of the passenger side jamb, the you can just pull the large piece right out. I have it pushed in enough to not fly out. Then, at the top of the jamb pieces, there is a little tab that should be tucked under the top piece not sit on top of it. Just a totally poor job. On top of that, on bumpy roads, there now a new creak/rattle in the dash/windsheild area that we've never heard before....stay tuned, will give them a chance to make it right. So we have a couple cases of some nice wine :P , I have much more appreciation for the IS 250AWD in the snow :) , but we have some windshield issues to get corrected. :cries:
  17. Just don't think a guy who bought/has an IS is in the same market as and A3. I think the A3's are awesome cars. Just different than the IS. Yeah, the A3 is like a little wagon, with lots of potential for carrying stuff too. IS 250 will probably feel a bit less sporty, but ride nicer. Still no slouch though. Good luck!
  18. Best answer= just get a Subaru Legacy GT Spec B. It will be faster than the 350, have AWD, any you will have a much nicer car!!! OK, I'm totally kidding, sort of...you should just take everyones advice for what it's worth and get what you want, but my advice is really the best ;)
  19. I do know it's in the manual! I've done it three times, but do it so infrequently I don't recall by memory. I do know it's EASY! Lots of help I am, huh ;)
  20. Congrats, welcome!!! I have no doubt that you will LOVE your new ride. They are awesome!
  21. Can you say sleeper? Just debadge and let your hp do the talkin!
  22. Sorry for your hassle's HSK. Hope it gets fixed right. I too am dealing with Safelite on my Subaru Legacy. In my opinion, they did a poor job. The mouldings on my Subaru are crooked, wavy, etc. The satellite antenna, which is mounted on the inside of the windshield on the upper right corner, keeps falling off now. I have made one attempt to get this fixed, and have made a second request. I'm sure Safelite has many satisfied customers. I just happen to NOT BE ONE OF THEM!
  23. VERY nice looking car. Any mods under the hood?
  24. Hey IS250 rookie! Very nice write up. Not too hard is it? While I prefer the ramps to the jack/stands, I actually find that changing the oil on the IS is easier than on my Subaru. On my Legacy the oil filter is smack dab up between the exhaust. Got to let it cool at least a bit before reaching up in there! Again, super job! Next...brakes :)
  25. I suppose it depends on your definition of "fast". Yeah, the IS250 is faster than my old '80 VW Rabbit. It's faster than my '66 VW bug I had...no wait, that car had dual carbs and some other goodies...it was quicker than the IS. But even compared to other cars in its class? IS250, AWD or not, is not a fast car. Nuf said.
