  1. No small accident, about 12 paragraphs down, that the ny times calls out the big 3 auto, miss-ordered ~ GM., Toyota and FoMoCo, when in fact, world wide, Toyota has passed GM for the number ONE spot as auto manufacturing king. Could it be GM's advertising with the NY times that caused this re-ordering? Naaahhh. :P I wouldn't subscribe to the New York Times if it was the only source of bird cage liner in the nation. Tom
  2. Better late than never. I just ran across your question, W@nton. I have a black 968 cabriolet with gray leather interior, 36K miles, and near showroom condition. I love the car and may never sell it unless I luck into a cheap (LOL) yellow 911 Turbo Cabriolet. Tom
  3. ICE = Internal Combustion Engine
  4. I reserve the word "ugly" for Michael Moore. Tom
  5. the RX400h is having a maximum combined torque of 750Nm and 200kw (272PS) max torque ICE = 288Nm front e-motor = 333Nm rear e-motor = 130Nm (all lexus figures and diagrams) rear e- motor rear_e_motor.pdf front e-motor front_e_motor.pdf ICE ICE.pdf Does anyone have software to digitize these curves so that they can be converted to different units and/or combined? Tom
  6. Well, I sure hope that it does after trying to check/add air to the spare tire recently. I blew if off after I realized that I had to drop the tire down first. It would very nice if manufacturers added extension hoses to spare tires for this purpose. For now I'll just let Lexus roadside deal with it if I have a flat and the spare is also low. Tom
  7. That would be excellent, Rey. The WAG ones are just not very attractive. Tom
  8. After watching several blind fools come inches from backing into the rear of my RX in parking lots, I must admit that I am tempted to buy the rear bumper guard, although I don't really think that it adds anything to the appearance of the vehicle. Tom
  9. Well, I'm a much happier MBZ owner than Lexus owner at the moment. I went to pick up the RX at lunch today and found TWO dings in the driver's door. One on the edge of the bump strip that had taken all the paint off, and another on the door itself near the edge. It's about 1/2" in from the edge where the sheetmetal folds over on itself and they can't get a tool in there to remove it "paintlessly" so it now needs to go back in to be repaired and have both drivers-side doors painted. That is ridiculous and unnecessary damage, considering that your vehicle should have been only been driven and parked by Lexus employees. One should feel safe in assuming that his vehicle is not parked in some general parking area where any bozo can park adjacent and bang his door against your vehicle. Tom
  10. Yes, I guess so. Or from a magazine test, which I have not seen yet. I seem to remember (but can't find) someone posting a combined max torque number over 700, which surely cannot be correct. Tom
  11. Has anyone found horsepower and torque curves for the RX400h? (Actually two sets for FWD and AWD.) Tom
  12. Why, to protect from stray shopping carts, of course! It's a jungle out there! Funny stuff, jkat... Tom

    Road Rage

Times are a changing, folks. I frowned at a driver who was coming out the entrance to a Chick- Fil-A and he blew up, jumped out of his car, and wanted to street fight. Tom
  14. You can get some excellent advice from some of the people that work in the installation department of Best Buy. I found a very smart guy there who is now my friend and auto-electronics guru. And they have access to a web site by Directed Electronics that has excellent schematics and advice for almost any vehicle. Tom
  15. I certainly don't have any empiracal data to back this up, but my gut feel is that things like seat heaters, K&N air filters, etc., are not going to have a measurable effect on fuel economy--probably more like 1/10 MPG but that's about all. Tom
  16. Congratulations, Steve, and welcome to the forum. Tom
  17. SPAM HAS ARRIVED....
  18. SW03ES is secretly a Nascar driver, and there ain't no "ICE" under the bonnet of his car. It's a mowtor, dude. :chairshot: Tom
  19. Guys, I think paint code 062 is the top coat and code 062-OB is the base coat--both available from Lexus and both called crystal white. Tom
  20. It's worse if you don't have AWD. There's a lot of torque available to the front wheels and it's pretty easy to break them loose. That being said, Lexus did a decent job of tuning out torque-steer. And the occasional power is fun. Tom
  21. NeonN I'd guess that there isn't much of a market for bumper guards for an RX400h. Afterall it is clearly not an offroad vehicle so perhaps few want to dress it up as one. You might try the RX350 forum. Tom
  22. Run out to Costo and buy a Powerstation model PS500M for $80 and you'll have a dependable 12v power source that will also recharge, albeit slowly, from your Lexus 12v outlet. Tom
  23. Crabman. That is an excellent post. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Tom
  24. As the Lexus roadside assistance technical person explained to me, the system actually shuts down before the ICE battery is really completely discharged, somehow to protect the drive battery. I'm not so sure that a larger or deep cycle battery will change the computer algorithm that controls this. Tom
  25. I have never heard of ISC calibration. Please explain? Tom
