  1. I would much prefer to just unplug the gong module and tuck it away in my garage. Has anyone found it? Tom
  2. Try these guys. They are generally cheaper than your local dealer, particularly Park Place. Iron Toad www.irontoad.com 800-590-0304 (PA) Park Place Lexus www.newlexusparts.com 800-275-5398 ext# 7039 (TX) Sewell Lexus www.lexus-parts.com 800-352-8108 (TX) Tom
  3. I didn't realize that being 60 years of age and having a 3-digit IQ is such a bad thing! Guilty on both counts. Shall I plan my funeral or find an Alzheimer's home? Tom
  4. Neon, it's all about the cheapest bid (and guaranteed availability second.) Tom
  5. But, do I need to do this each time I start the vehicle? Ditto re my preference to eliminate the annoying gong. My mailbox is a block from my house and it annoys me that I must re-buckle to avoid the noise, even at the considerable risk of crashing into my garage door unprotected. Tom
  6. Drat, now who is going to insult my age and intelligence? Tom
  7. Methinks that somebody is about to become a non-member here. :D Just my two cents as they say. Tom
  8. I am very interested in the details of your extended warranty. Can you elaborate on how/where to buy it? Tom
  9. How did you do this? Tom there should be a post on this forum, let me see if i can find it for you and link you up. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;hl=seat+belt Here is an example to turn off the seat belt warning: 1. turn the key to the ON position (press Start 2 times), foot off the brake 2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B ) 3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position 4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled. 5. turn the key to the ON position (Press Start 2 times). when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec) 6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt. 7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset. 8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off there you go, enjoy!!! B) Thanks, Neon. I was hoping for you, or someone, to tell me where I can find the annoying gong and permanently unplug it. Tom
  10. That sure begs the question as to how he defeated the Lexus security system(s) so easily. Tom
  11. Randy, the good news is that the HOV lanes have specific hours of operation (restriction) that most people never notice nor use (such as at night.) Tom
  12. There's a switch under the glove box that allows you to change between two sets of tires/wheels/sensors without resetting anything. Tom
  13. Here you go, Randy: http://phoenix.about.com/od/highwaysroads/a/HOV.htm Tom
  14. That's really bad, Bruce. Sorry for the loss. One has to wonder what the market is for a hot RX400h and/or parts for same. I certainly would not expect it to be a likely car to be stolen. Tom
  15. Recently I've considered buying a hybrid. Two of our friends own Prius's, one owns a new Highlander, and they brag about them all the time. I agree that a real compelling reason is for the HOV lane, but in Phoenix, I notice that the HOV lane is plugged up much of the time during rush hour traffic. Randy, be aware that nether the Hylander hybrid nor the RX400h qualify for the HOV lanes in Arizona, thanks to Govenor Janet and crew. Tom
  16. I ran about 25 miles of local errands last night, first resetting my meter, and got over 31 miles/gallon. It's darn hard to find a non-hybrid that will equal that short of an econobox. Tom
  17. Obviously all Lexuses should come with an included bag of trail mix as a decoy. Tom
  18. Jrober, bet you didn't know that you were stupid for having a different vehicle preference than Robl45 huh?
  19. Hoy, here's a thread on the subject: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...9&hl=decals Tom
  20. Rey. to answer your questions about K&N air filters: 1. They have a lifetime warranty, which means you will only buy one for the life of the vehicle. In lieu of replacing them, you service them by cleaning with either K&N's filter cleaner, or a household degreaser. They you re-oil them lightly with K&N filter oil (red). 2. On some vehicles they do increase fuel mileage and/or performance slightly, but don't expect huge differences. Specifically, on a Porsche 968, several enthusiasts have documented around 5-10 HP gains with careful dynomometer comparisons. 3. They make the engine slightly louder, mainly at full throttle. I somewhat like the slightly more throaty sound on my RX. 4. K&N claims that their filters catch finer particles than stock filters. I don't know if this has been measured, and the results will obviously vary depending on which stock filter they are being compared to. Tom
  21. Neon, are you referring to the second "filter" that sits behind the primary air filter? Did you remove that one too? If so, how is it held in? Tom
  22. I just lost my breakfast............. :( Tom
  23. Below -30C it should read, "curl up with the one you love by the fireplace and wait for spring" Tom
