  1. One new battery later, hopefully problem solved. Battery was VERY low. I am just surprised that the battery went in less than 3 years. Thanks to both of you for your help. Much appreciated.
  2. Has anyone ever experienced the car battery just dying on the RX400h?? We have a 2008; and the car battery has died twice. It happened once when I was recharging my cell phone (car was not running); and it just happened again this evening. Nothing was left on; nothing was running. The battery shows it is still good (green eye). Our car has 53000 miles and will be 3 years old in 2 months. I am tempted to replace the battery, but our last RX300 went 5 years and 80000 miles before needing one. Anybody have any ideas about the cause of this??? A little concerned right now
  3. Ya know, there is something inherently WRONG when you have to remove a bumper to replace a headlight............
  4. Is there a hookup on the 2008 RX400h for an IPod, or other MP3 player??? The radio says MP3 on the face, but I am under the impression that this will only play self made CD's using a medium like Napster. The instructions were not helpful.
  5. My wife and I LOVE our RX400h; but I tend to nit pick everything in my life, so why should my car be any different. For as much as I !Removed! on certain things (like the NAV system, XM Radio 'upgrade'; bluetooth issues; my wife and I marvel at the quietness, the ride comffort, and the reliability. We were previous RX300 owners for almost 8 years before buying our 2nd Lexus, the 400h. It has been the most reliable car I have ever owned. I wouldn't take a BMW (WAY overpriced for what you get), a Mercedes (horrible relaibility), Range Rover (see previous comment) The only car we considered before buying this was the Acura MDX, which was actually a little too big for our tastes. I am a HUGE Acura fan, but also a HUGE Lexus fan!! :)
  6. I put Goodyear Assurance on my 400h for the winter months; I would highly recommend them to anyone. A great tire in snow, very quiet in normal conditions. I HATE my Goodyear Rs's. I can't wait to replace them!!!
  7. I am a bit confused; my 2005 Acura TL has bluetooth (which I LOVE!!!); the bluetooth AUTOMATICALLY picks up my phone and/or my wifes phone when we are in the car. Great feature. My 2008 Lexus RX400h can not pick up ANY bluetooth phone, unless I re do the settings EVERY time I enter the car. When I asked my service advisor about it, he just kind of shrugged his shoulders and said it was one of the issues that had been resolved for the 2010 model. Oh I see........ Has anyone experienced the same problem??? And if you have a fix, PLEASE share!!!!
  8. The service will survive, but shareholder equity will be gone. The stock is less than a dime a share, so it was lost way before the bond issues raised up, although the debt coming due has been an ongoing issue for a few years. I love my XM!! But they are raising their prices this month from $6.99 to $8.99/month for subscribers who have more than one radio.
  9. We bought ours as a demo, so beggars can't be choosers. But it was a unique color, with black interior. My wife and I both wanted black, after our metallic blue/tan interior from our 2001 Rx300 was difficult to keep clean on a consistent basis. The unique color though was awesome; until we found a neighbor a few blocks away who had a RX350 in the same color w/black interior!!!
  10. Here in Michigan; our 2008 is averaging about 24.4mpg (according to the Lexus computer). That has decreased from 25mpg during the summer/fall. I agree it is due to the cold weather.
  11. The second set of TPMS, used with a second set of wheels, MUST be initializied by the dealer. I just found this out Friday of last week. I had started a thread about going with a larger set of tires for winter. I ended up sticking with OEM size, and am happy about it. Once changed to the second set though, the tire sensor light would not go out, or change, no matter which button I pushed. One trip to the dealer, and $110.00 later, all is good again. <_< I thought the cost was WAY too much for about 20 minutes of work, but ......
  12. I took the advice of this forum, and had the tires swapped for a set of 235/55/18 Goodyear Assurance. The Assurance is very quiet; and rides well. But I would recommend the ContiTrac in a heartbeat.
  13. I have used Lexol cleaner and conditioner for years; it does a great job.
  14. I have a 2005 Acura TL (in addition to wife's 2008 RX400h); the Acura package of navi, XM, voice recognition, etc... is WAY better than our Lexus. There is no comparison. When I did my post purchase survey w/Lexus, I told them they were WAY behind Acura in this feature. The 400h is a great car; but I am still having trouble with the navi system (even after reading the manual). On my Acura, within 20 minutes, I was an expert. Never a problem. I have never experienced any other mfg's navi systems, outside of these two.
  15. I just switched over to winter tires; I purchased a set of OEM 18 wheels off eBay for a excellent price. They were a little scratched up, but these will be used in the winter with road salt and such, and i didn't want to ruin the original set. I purchased a set of 245/60/18 Continental ContiTrac LX. I bought them used as I couldn't justify spending $900 on a set of tires that would be used for 4 - 5 months of the year. The DOT number is 2006, so they are fine with regards to age. I know the OEM size is 235/55/18. To me the always seemed a little wimpy. I won't go into how I hate the Goodyear RS-A performance, but until they wear out...... The larger tires are great, the car seems to ride truer, with no noticable ride difference. If anything, they ride quieter. But I read on TireRack.com the the Contitrac is a great tire. What do you think of going with a larger tire??? I have a 10 day try and buy. If they don't work out, or I hear a great reason not to run a larger tire, I can get a set of 235/55/18 Goodyear Assurance. Also ranked very well by TireRack.com.
