  1. The battery in my 2004 300 GS goes dead if it sits for 14 days or more. This has happened five times since I bought it a year ago. I took it into the dealer for repair and they stated that is normal, the battery is OK and there is no unusual current draw down. The battery gets drawn down because of the active components (computers )and so forth in the car. Can anyone verify this or comment on it. Apparently a service bulletin was issued in that regard. I suppose I could keep a battery charger on it when it sits for a while, seems like a pain in the butt though. I would like to read specifically what the service bulliten says. Lance
  2. It may just be a question of sanity.....choices, choices.......have you ever purchased a car before? I cannot imagine anyone needing more power than the refined acceleration provided by the GS300. I purchased an '04 GS300 about a month ago. My last car was a MB E300. The GS is much faster than the Mercedes, although the MB soaks up the bumps better and as an aside, has the best seats ever devised by man (or engineer) But my point is the acceleration in this car is quite enough for me. Point of fact, I was recntly in a situation where I had to pass two semis on a two lane road. Without the transmission even kicking down a gear, I passed them both going from 55mph to 95mph in the space of both vehicles. Frankly I was surprised to see how fast I was going at the end of the passing zone. Had I goosed it, I am sure I would have been going over 100mph. Why bother with a V8, unless you are into drag racing.
  3. I recently purchased an'04 GS300 and it seems to be an excellent car except for two things. The first is that the gas mileage is a little low, I am getting about 22 -23 mpg highway. The second is that the throttle seems overly sensitive. I barely touch it and it zooms. I am thinking that the gas mileage may improve as the engine breaks in a little better. There are only 12,000 miles on the clock. I am also thinking the prior owner drove it pretty hard and the ECU is set to his driving style. Can anyone tell me if they get the EPA 25 highway with reasonable driving habits. Does the ECU change over time relative to the driving habits of the owner? Thanks for your thoughts on this.
