  1. Easiest point would probably be from the ignition switch feed as these carry the current you require and it would be a fairly short route from there to the centre console. It would be best to solder the joint and then skrink wrap.
  2. Sorry you've lost me, what's this got to do with a missing TB part?
  3. It is very similar to the 94 model except the ash tray comes out with the wood trim not as a seperate item. This should also help. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/headunit.html
  4. It's the air filter off the dash pot assembly, not available as a separate part only as the complete dash pot. Part number 22202-50070 priced around $60.00. If it wont start recheck all the vacuum pipes are fitted correctly as they are hard to reach and fit under the TB.
  5. Welcome to the LOC. IIRC KYB are standard on Lexus models. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KYB-4-GR2-SHOCKS-LEXUS-LS430-01-to-06-/120648486775?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ALexus%7CModel%3ALS430&hash=item1c1735cf77&vxp=mtr
  6. You may find the reasons for a lack of response is either no one has one or more likely they would bot split a full set. There are some on ebay if you wish to take a look link below http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=lexus+ls400+chrome+wheel&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=4
  7. It could be the starter failing to disengage cleanly with the flywheel gear but a big job to strip down and physically check.
  8. If you go for a set of coilovers you can adjust the set up to your liking, plenty to chose from on ebay.com.
  9. Thread resurrected by a spammer 15 months on,sad.
  10. You could I guess just replace the fronts but then you will have to block off the front air lines and trick the AS system into thinking there are still air struts all around. Why don't you just convert the lot to springs and do away with the air? http://www.lextreme.com/ascon.html
  11. I found this by searching pictures of "Lexus LS400 trunk hinge wiring" within 30 seconds. Follow the hinge back and you will see the wiring loom concerned wrapped up in black tape carefully remove the tape to expose the wires and then check each wire carefully, IIRC the white wire is the normal culprit then follow the repair instructions provided on www.lexls.com You will probably find the easiest way to work is to lie in the trunk and have a decent flashlight to hand. http://s731.photobucket.com/user/rojo412/media/Stereo%20Howto/DSCN0018.jpg.html
  12. Pity you're 4000 miles away, I have all the parts you need from a breaker I have here in the UK except for the headlight as the beam pattern is for RHD.
  13. If the cars been stood and the fluid is old but doesn't smell burnt the shift solenoids are prone to sticking hence the gear change delay and now the wrong selection. Not a difficult job to replace them, accessible once the sump pan is removed. Transmission is Aisin A340/341 type http://www.rostratransmission.com/transmission-solenoids-by-rostra-transmission.php
  14. You say you were trying to refill the transmission, was this due to having no fluid in there or another reason? Before you started the work was the transmission working OK?
  15. Sounds like a mirror position sensor problem, there is a diagnostic test proceedure for it. If you are DIY competent send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you.
  16. No mini hijack intended but where did you buy this seal ? Lexus Dealer? Thanks! From Lexus, 1999 USA Specfication LS400 Part Number is 77316-16010 $16.53
  17. That's a great detailed tutorial, I never realised the TB was located at the front of the intake on the VVTI engine.
  18. They only work at night, if you pull up the door handle whilst the car is locked the lock should illuminate and also the interior front dome light should also come on. If the lamp has failed in the lock ring it's a PITA to get to as it involves removal of the interior door panel and even then access is tight.
  19. You need to have the OBDII fault codes read using a code reader, either buy one and do it yourself or take it to a garage for them to do it. Once you have the code(s) this should indicate where the fault may be. BTW why did you replace the fuel cap when the light came on?
  20. It would probably be the fastest and easiest way to get another hub but you could try drilling the remains of the bolt and using a stud extractor. Also if you remove the hub a local engineering company may be able to help. If this is your 1st lower BJ change at 403K thats amazing and I'm not surprised it snapped.
  21. Just a little advice, if you are replacing the bulb with an LED make sure the quality is good. Reason I mention it is I fitted cheap ones in mine along with the footwell ones and it damaged the integration relay way under the dash. If you are using a conventional lamp don't worry.
  22. The Traction Control system is fully integrated into the ABS and main braking systems so it's not a case of pull the fuse to disable. I would first be looking at pulling the fault codes and see what is flagging up in the Traction Control system, in the meantime lighten your foot on the gas pedal to avoid the problem.
  23. Fault and repair method detailed on the link below, http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/topic/31393-screen-wash-empty-indicator/
  24. IIRC it also indicates low brake fluid.
