2006 IS360
There's your problem! lol. So sorry, couldn't help but comment on that. ;-)
I've had three IS250s. A 2006, 2007 and 2009. None of them have had that gap that you're mentioning.
I don't know I think your problem is bigger than mine since I see a 250 instead of a 350. :P
I see "IS 360" instead of 350. That's what I was talking about. Just a typo.....
And yeah, it's only the 250. So sorry! But I think they've both got the same basic interior! B)

Did you find out what the cause was?

It's just as simple as inserting a little plastic piece that can slide in and out of the visor........hmmmm.........
-
Are you SURE it doesn't slide out? When its over to the side pull the visor straight back...
Slides out on my ES...and all the other Lexus cars I've had/driven and our Prius.
I tugged on it yesterday, and it didn't do it. I didn't know the ES did that. And I don't remember my Prius doing that either......wow, things I find out after I get rid of the car!

I'd recommend getting your side windows tinted except that California allows a maximum of only 70% tint on the front side windows -- hardly worth the bother.
I thought CA didn't even allow tinting of the front windows, not that it stops anyone. I've thought about doing it, however......
-
Do you mean to extend lower or longer?
Longer
-
OK, I know almost nothing about the current IS250 -- only ridden in one once -- but does the sun visor not slide on its rod like in my LS400 so that you can flip it to the side and then pull it towards the back of the car and place it where you want?
No, you can only pull it down in front, or you can move it to the side. It doesn't slide anywhere.
-
Does anyone else think it would be a good idea if Lexus would put some sort of extension on the sun visor of the IS? I know it's a smaller visor. When I use it to the side, there's always about six inches of space that isn't covered, and that's always where the sun seems to be.

I only got the first one free. Consider yourself lucky!

You don't need to change your oil until the 5k service.

I've had this issue on all three IS's I've owned. I've had the mirror replaced on the last two IS's. Never really fixed the problem comletely. That's with the sunroof opened or closed. The '09 one still vibrates a little, but it's better than the others.....

The brightness control knob only adjusts the tach/speedometer on the dash above the steering column. The LED of the radio readout and climate info is unaffected. Very dim under normal conditins, unreadable in the sun. You'd think someone else would be a bit annoyed with this!
I'm annoyed by it!

I thought it'd be cool to take off my letters and have a smooth surface. Got the "L" off, and then found out under the "E" that there's a hole in there. So hurried up and put the "E" back on, but there was no adhesive left on the "L." I wound up having the dealer re-append it on for me, at no charge. I know, however, you needed to replace yours. Is the dealer going to charge you to re-append the letters?

I traded in a manual 325i for my first IS250. I'm on my third one now, and still love it. Granted, it's not a German engine, doesn't sound as "pretty," but it's got a lot more amenities than BMW ever had, and that's why I switched. I was tired of having to pay for the 6 in-dash CD changer, the heated/vented seats, etc. I don't have nav, and think I might get it in my fourth car, lol!
I was going to say to check out the AWD version, but I don't believe the 350 has that option. Also, you can't get a manual in the 350, only the 250, and I've heard those are hard to find, as well.
Just took my husband's 528i to the dealer about two months ago for its tune-up. Now the A/C isn't working right, and one of the headlights is out. So now I have to take my time to take it in and get that fixed. Lexus, you just call, line up a loaner, bring in the car, and when it's done they call you, and you bring back the loaner. That's a biggy for me. Not all Lexus dealers do that, however.
Oh, and as far as the rattles, I think there's a thread in here about that. People do have rattles in their IS's, but I think have chosen (like myself) to live with them because the car is so nice.........
I heard an IS-F drive by me last night, and it sounded sooo cool! I think it's nicer-looking than the M3, and cheaper, too!
-
Yeah, maybe having the 350 wouldn't help me now. I've decided to start driving slower and just taking my time. Living in SoCal, it's kinda hard. But I'm not about to get stressed out again over some loser who had something up her butt for some reason.....

How true that is, Jay!
I have to say, this terrified me. I seriously did not do anything, as this person just came up behind me, went around in the center divider, and when I finally caught up to her, she decided to go berzerk. My husband was, like, why didn't you call 911? I didn't even have time. I had to keep both hands on the wheel to keep from hitting her. Oh, that, and honking. For some reason, I was honking the whole time. I found out the horn works really well in my car! ;)
-
Well, I had my first instance of road rage yesterday perpetrated upon me. I didn't do a darn thing, for those of you wondering, it was just a crazy woman who decided to stop in the middle of the road and not let me pass. Everytime I gunned it around her, she got in front of me again.
The IS250 handled well (after thinking about it, cuz, of course, I wasn't thinking about it at the time). The only thing is I wished it had the 350 engine, lol! I was thinking, if only I had my hubby's E63 right now, I could've just gunned it and got away from her......
Then I was thinking if I could've got the sequential shifting going, that would've helped, too. You know, you don't really think about those things till after the incident.........
-
Where did you get it?
-
Is this Newport Beach that you were testing in, or is that a dealer in San Diego? I didn't even know this was out for a sneak peak yet. How did you find out about this? Just curious.....
-
Totally agreed, Clay.
As for the rattles, some I've had fixed, others I've just left alone. Like I said before, if it didn't rattle, I'd think something was wrong. I love my car overall, and that's what's led me to continue buying it.......
Trina you in line to get an 2010 or 2011? The 09 had to be worn out by now! LOL
Quite possibly! I drive way too much.........And the new car smell hasn't worn out yet! ;)
-
You mean there is actually a sub in the back of the IS250? Man, it must be pathetic because I am so not pleased with the low end in this car. Where exactly can I find the sub?
what "low end" are you talking about?

As someone who has had three IS250s in the past four years, I think I like the car!!! I had an '06 that I bought in Oct of '05, brand-new model then. I bought an '07 a year later, and I just got my '09 last week. I like to keep 'em updated, lol.
I love the body style. I love the service I am provided. I only have a premium package, but the car is wonderful, in my opinion. Okay, except for the occasional rattle that even, yes, my '09 has, too.........
As for gas, it's a big topic on this site. I use 91 because that's what's recommended. I don't want to chince on my car. I paid good money for it, I drive it all over the place, and I don't want to take any chances.
Welcome to LOC and congrats on your new purchase!
Recall On Driver Side Floor Mat

What I heard on the radio was that the dealership had given a loaner car with a car mat that didn't belong to the ES. I heard the 911 call, very haunting. Not much you can do at 120 mph, brakes blown, going through a busy intersection.
