  1. If the light is not coming on when you press the button on your Homelink either the LED is dead (not very likely) or the unit itself is dead for some reason. Looks like you will have to go to the dealer for this one. Hopefully your RX is still under warranty as a new visor will be fairly expensive (several hundred $$). Sorry I couldn't help more. Tom
  2. Check the back panel of your motor drive unit where the wires from the wall button attach. There should be a small button there. I believe the procedure is to program the Homelink in your car with your remote, then climb the ladder and press the training button on your drive unit, then go back down the ladder to your car and press the Homelink button you programmed just a few moments ago. You may even have to press it twice (I don't remember). Then it should work for you every time. Tom
  3. Are you sure there is no training button for your garage door opener?? Sometimes they can be hard to find. My brother-in-law's was behind a small panel. What garage door opener do you have? The training button is normally located somewhere on the back of the motor drive unit where the wires hook in. Tom
  4. OK. Let's go the next step. Does the little red light come on at all when you press any of the buttons?? If not, it sounds like your unit is defective and needs replacement. If it does, let me know and we'll go from there. Tom
  5. Rickebob, your Homelink gets its power from the same wire that supplies the mirror light in your sunvisor. Does the light work in your sunvisor?? If not, check the wiring and the fuse. If it's under warranty - drive it in and have them fix it. Should be fairly simple for them to figure out if they need to order a new visor or not. Tom
  6. My dealer, Lexus of Dayton, sells their certified cars with 2 master keys. They said it was part of the certification. In fact, one of my master keys was missing and they ordered another for us at no charge. Maybe it's just part of their certification. They have been great. They are also the number one rated Lexus dealer in the nation. Maybe this is part of the reason for that. Also, Lexus of Dayton is opening (in the next month or two) a second local dealership dedicated to Pre-Owned vehicles. It is the first one of its kind in the country. It will have its own service department and parts department. All other dealerships are combined.
  7. Nice job. Very clean install.
  8. I have a '97 SC300, so I can't really comment on which is better when you compare 300 and 400. I would go with a 97 because it has the newer front end, and I like how it looks better. You're right, the 400 comes only with an automatic transmission. Both are very good engines.
  9. Give us a little more info. How wrong is the destination?? Is it down the street from your true destination? Is it the wrong place for a destination with multiple choices? What is wrong about it? Tom
  10. Did you purchase this from a Lexus dealer? Was it a certified vehicle? All certified vehicles are to come with 2 master keys and the valet key according to the program rules. Tom
  11. I am picky too. Don't settle. You will not be happy with that car. Just wait for a short while. One will pop up. Tell your dealer what you are looking for. They should be able to find one in a reasonable amount of time.
  12. It sounds to me like your FM Modulator might be over modulating. Is the scratchy part of your music when it gets really loud? When it's high pitched? When it's a lot of bass?? You just may need to adjust your modulator. I found that to be true when I installed my XM SkiFi modulator. I couls not run it at full modulation because of distortion. Tom
  13. I think you will be able to see them. I have an SC, not an LS, but it should be similar. Let me know what you find and we'll go from there.
  14. The switch is down on the brake pedal mechanism. It could easily be that. It also may have gotten unplugged by accident. Also it could be a bad solenoid in the center console. These are both easy to check. Do you hear any "click" (in the center concole) at all when you press the brake pedal? Tom
  15. I believe this setting must be set by the dealer. Can anyone else verify?
  16. Right. Even when you are cruising at the same speed. As you go up and down hills (even very slight ones that you cannot see) you will see your mileage change based on how hard the car is working to keep you at the same speed. Tom
  17. I do not believe that is programmable on the 2001.
  18. Why are you so sure that it is wrong?? As you accelerate and decelerate your consumption does go through large swings. Accelerating away from a stop light - high fuel usage - low MPG. Coasting down the road - low fuel usage - high MPG.
  19. You don't need to go to Lexus to get it checked or filled if that's what you need. Go to a shop you trust.
  20. Check to see if your temperature sensor is still in the proper location. The piece of plastic that connects it to the lower bumper broke on mine and as you are driving it sits against the radiator. This makes mine read high too. I am going to have it fixed on my next visit to the dealer.
  21. Try to right click the picture instead of left click. You should be able to "SAVE TARGET AS" Tom
  22. The older NAV systems were hard drive based and you must change out the entire drive rather than just changing the disc.
  23. I believe those are on both the Ultra Luxury and Custom Luxury trimmed cars.
