  1. Extremely poor excuse from Lexus. Smoke from Canada should in no way be able to enter the sunroof, as I would not believe that you are driving with sunroof open when air is full of smog. Inside car with air condition will be far better than polluted outside air. Some could possibly believe that they cleaned the drains after you complained. You should be able to make that understood even to a company that prefer to keep a tiny gain instead of a satisfied longtime customer.
  2. I paid 170€ to have an extra for the CT. Had to wait 3 weeks, Toyota told me it came from Lexus in Japan, no problem as we had the 2 already that came with the car. Cheaper than Mazda. Nice to have 3.
  3. It is pretty easy, so why Lexus does not do it is plain stupid. Service is key to satisfied customers.
  4. Of course, Lexus has forgotten to mention, cleaning of drains when serviced at whichever driven distance that could be needed in order to keep our cars dry, and should be held responsible for that. That is only going to be included if more Lexus owners complain. Just like electing politicians, the same idiots are elected again and again. Lexus owners are too lazy to demand which is obvious and when something is not going quite like hoped for, we accept it. And pay for fixing something that should be serviced automatically.
  5. Hi Dharlee, You bought the car October 21 and more or less immediately needed a new 12V battery. Bought the car from Toyota dealer. They should have sold a car with a functioning battery. Then spring 22 more or less ½ a year and the new battery needed to be replaced. On warranty of course? A new battery should last at least 5 years. Here Lexus closed their workshop and all service is with Toyota, but we get an almost OK service; not like expected from a luxury brand, but our car is driving fine and no problems, so nothing really, to feel sad about. A 12V battery should keep charge enough to start the computer even if you do not use it daily, and that is all the little battery need to do, but if very cold at night and hot in day where you live, battery is having a hard life. 2008 car could have electric connectors a bit corroded and thus not delivering the power from the battery to the computer, but an electric shop should have been able to find that kind of error. If Toyota where you live is a real bad place maybe contact Lexus USA and complain. Toyota own Lexus so they should be giving a decent customers experience.
  6. When Lexus tell us that something will last the lifetime of a car it means the time, they would expect it to be costly for Lexus to repair because of warranty. Most owners of new cars will get a new car before big problems come and when next owner of the car has problems It will be nice for Lexus to get some work for the people, they have working for them. Nothing last forever and definitely will oil lose efficiency to keep moving parts lubricated. Oil that has been in transmission 100K miles will absolutely no longer be good as new. The CT we have is no near that only about 90K km and when reaching 100 we will have it changed no matter if needed according to Lexus or not.
  7. Some questions answered here? https://search.brave.com/search?q=can+a+hybrid+car+tow+a+trailer&source=desktop Anyway, the company that installed the thing should complete installation or have refused to start if cannot.
  8. Correct Les, the ES is a fine-looking car. What you write is similar to what I can see here. Lexus no longer has a workshop, service with Toyota, but Toyota is selling Toyota, not a Lexus in the show room. If they now make Toyota cars as well as Lexus then I do not mind what the name on the car is. Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota. Just names of good reliable cars. Once it was Opel (GM) and Mercedes and VW that were popular here. .
  9. That is annoying. Like alarms in 1990. The CT is silent when using the remote. Usually I just touch the handle when want to enter the car and it unlocks without a sound except a slight click from actuators.
  10. In the CT the sounds are only on the inside of the car. Not the same on the one you have?
  11. 75 km/h on my old downhill bike. No! Not up-hill. More than 200 km/h in Nissan 300ZX in 1984. Now we drive slow in order not to have to pay for speeding. Sorry!
  12. The curse of having perfect hearing is, what most others do not hear, can be annoying. My little one and wife hear what I do not. With perfect hearing I believe not many cars are silent. New or old.
  13. Since this tread started in 2009 tyres have been through some evolution and now you can have tyres with self-sealing layer inside so the rather stiff tyres that were made for armed vehicles long ago have competition where comfort is no longer missing. The UltraContact we have on the CT are so much better (consume - handling – noise level) than the OEM tyres from factory that I can only believe that Lexus prefer Japanese tyres because they get them cheap or they are Japanese.
  14. Sharp precise direct steering, exceptional handling, rear wheel drive, tiny turbo engine that could get the very light car around corners better than anything else I have been driving; except the Lancia Delta EVO 2 Rally, but that was not really street legal. This was one of the drawings for the concept version: They also made a Brabus Smart V6 Biturbo of the same car, but never got to sell the car.
  15. I changed wheels from OEM to forged wheels on MR2 Spyder and had wider rims on rear with wider tyres as well, front I left OEM size; had adjustable shock absorbers in and the car was suddenly sporty. Twice as much fun on narrow mountain roads. Toyota made a nice little open car, but they made it the way they think most would like it. After it was changed it was hard to find out which was most fun – the Spyder or the Smart Roadster my wife had. Now when no longer having these cars I miss driving in the Smart most.
  16. If you wonder why wheel size is in inches and tyre size in mm, you are not alone.
  17. If you take 7½ x 2.5 you get 187.5 meaning that tyres much wider than 225 will be very bulky. Which is popular. In my opinion 245 tyres should be on 9" and not 7½" wheels. I know that many cannot get tyres wide enough, but then again, some also cannot get rear spoilers big enough. Have been selling tyres, have been driving rally. First education was in MB and Volvo. 245/40/18 - OEM 245/45/17 - will be .1% smaller - no problem at all 225/50/17 - will be .5% bigger - no problem at all It is your car and whatever you think best, is what you should have. The SC is a beautiful car as it came from factory.
  18. If 235/45/18 is standard OEM 235/50/17 will be less than .3% smaller than OEM 255/45/17 will be 1.1% smaller than OEM 265/45/17 will be .2% bigger than OEM 225/55/17 will be 1.6% bigger than OEM I do not know how wide the rims are but at the time when car was built rims usually were rather narrow, so my choice would be 225/55/17 which would then have speedometer showing closer to correct speed on the road. That would make the wheels still have room enough without making the arches wider. Not to talk about how much more comfortable the higher profile would make the ride, and open roof cars are made to enjoy the surrounding landscape, not to use for track days (in my opinion).
  19. Have had a MR2 first edition, MR2 Spyder, Smart Roadster. Tiny cars are fun.
  20. Spain. The CT is longer than maybe 40% of markings on parking spaces. But seeing that many, maybe most cars drive around with only 1 or 2 persons in it, reasons to buy big cars are few. And small cars are much more fun to drive.
  21. In 2016 Lexus was still a well-spoken of luxury brand. We bought the CT, partly because of what we have read about reliability and quality of the brand and being made by Toyota is not something that is very negative. The car has been perfect and first year with Lexus we were happy with service and treatment when car was having inspections. We still keep the yearly service with Toyota (Lexus no longer has a separate workshop here) because oil needs to be replaced and mostly because the expensive hybrid battery then is warranted. If that was not the case, we would go elsewhere for changing oil etc. If we will stay with Toyota (have had 3 before, 2 good and 1 garbage) I do not know. As long as the CT is behaving perfect, we have no reason to change car. It is nice and comfortable and possible to find parking place to. The big cars you have in US will be crazy to drive here where parking places are made for original Fiat 500 and Renault 4 that were the cars here 20 - 40 years ago. .
  22. Same resistance on old and new speakers (Ω)? Is the speaker you take out a full tone or woofer type? Single membrane? If amplifier is I easy to come to try to connect a front speaker to a rear amplifier terminal. If that give correct sound level on the new, amplifier is at fault.
  23. If it has a micro-SD-card you can buy a new on eBay. If not such a card you may be stuck with Lexus that know how to write big bills. Anyway: Lexus navigation system is rather backward made and any smartphone will have a better, much more precise navigation system built in and updates are free so that is what I would recommend. Just start navigation in the car without destination and activate Bluetooth and you will see the map on the Lexus screen and hear the sound from your smartphone on the speakers in the car.
  24. If the rubber is melting because car drives in an area with hot climate Lexus should change the parts that are melting without charging anything, plus excusing that they did not make the car with materials that can be driven in warmer areas. There is absolutely no excuse for building a car that cannot be driven in places where car is sold. Natural rubber can deteriorate if in places where temperature is above 85 degrees Celsius and that could happen in a car door when parked in sunshine. Lexus engineers know that and should use synthetic rubber in high temperature areas. Cheap rubber is cheap and quality cost more. Good quality silicone rubber has no problem with temperatures above 300 degrees Celsius (used in tubes for oil coolers in Porsche engines) and that will have not be melting in temperatures that will not damage insulation of electric wires etc so should be not giving problems.
  25. Your choice. I believe that Lexus did choose the best and the Denso rubber I bought fit perfect in the OEM metal from factory, identical to the ones they replaced. If your windshield wipers are not original from Lexus, then there are many brands to try out, but Denso wipers are used for cars from Toyota (incl. Lexus) and lots of other car brands.
