  1. Hey ladies and gents. Time to go hit the road in my awesome LEXUS!! Happy Birthday to me!
  2. Now there is also other pros to the 93 including below: http://www.lexls.com/info/lsgenerations.html - Improved emissions. - Front brake calipers were upgraded from single to twin piston for better performance. - Key-off operation function was added to the power windows and moon roof. - Daytime running light system was added for all Canadian models. - Larger switch on the key for increased keyless entry ease of use. - Conventional flat horn was replaced by a spiral horn to improve sound. - Top speed = 149 mph; 0-60 = 8.2 seconds; 0-400m = 15.8 seconds. 1992 - Basically there were no changes. 1992 LS400's are virtually the same as 1991 LS400's. - The daytime running light system for Canadian models was slightly changed so that they illuminate at 80-85% of capacity instead of full. - Top speed = 149 mph; 0-60 = 8.2 seconds; 0-400m = 15.8 seconds. 1993 - The LS400 Series II debuts with more than 50 changes, many as a direct response to dealer and customer requests. - Slightly refined front grille. The vertical bars are less prominent so the horizontal lines show more. - Headlight beam pattern improved. - Front lower spoiler and rear undercover colors now matched with vehicle body color. - Side body molding thickness was increased and larger rocker moldings with body matching color. - Outside rear view mirror visors were slightly elongated and mirror adjustability increased. - Larger 16" wheels with a new design. - Leather door trim inserts became standard. - Front roof headliner, sun visors, and center visor were changed to fabric. - Steering wheel was slightly changed and the overdrive switch on the shifter was moved to the side. - Minor stereo improvements. - Aluminum radiator. - EGR and EVAP systems now controlled by the engine ECU. - A secondary air injection system was added to the emission control system on California spec models. - Fluid temperature sensor was added to the transmission. - Revised differential mounts. - Bigger brakes and electronic brake-pad wear warning system added. - Front and rear suspension improvements for better ride comfort. - Steering shaft increased and steering characteristics were revised. - Automatic light control system added. - Illuminated entry system revised. - Instrument cluster revised. Illumination adjusting system, electronic odometer, and exterior temperature gauge added. Warning lights were added and relocated. - R134a became standard in the air conditioning system. A clean-air filter with odor-removing function was added. - Keyless entry system revised. - Lumbar support and vertical adjustments were added to the front passenger seat. - Front passenger SRS air bag added. - Seat belt pretensioner functions were added to the front belts. - Cruise control system revised. - Trunk lock improved. - A few other minor improvements.... - Top speed = 149 mph; 0-60 = 7.9 seconds; 0-400m = 15.8 seconds. I have the 93 and love it! Everyone except the people here think its a 2001. Although I am doing very well with my career most people think I am loaded. Sometimes I play and say hey its nice not to have a car payment. :) Cheers to LEXUS.. For sure when I looked I wanted certain colors. At first my wife wanted the light interior and then we found this LEXUS at 93k for 7k. It needed a few things and I added about 2500 in additions to get what I have..
  3. Thanks.. Yeah I know I need to get the buffer out.. I did that one week with the polish then the next week with the wax. I need some time off from traveling so I can make the whole car look great! I think I forgot to do that rear front piece and focused on rest of car.
  4. I love the way these lights look. It took about 1 1/2 hours to complete the job.
  5. As for the acer every 24 seconds I meant with property development. They were building on the swamps. Obviously to decrease the tax burden on the residence.
  6. I dont care what anyone says 80k miles is 80k miles. *** Check carfax and get an idea of who owned and how many miles they drove per year. Also look for leased, corporate and multiple owners. *** Second get VIN's and get ahold of LEXUS service at any dealership and ask to run them. They will let you know when and how much maintenance was done. This is what I said... Not just the first line.. Are you a media employee? You know how they take the line of their choice... My point is if the 150k car got timing belt at 125k. So obviously when the book says 90k why did they wait 35k??? On top of that they did not do preventive mainetenance such as the power steering pump until 125k. My point is I suspect the owner/owners (??) did not take care of this car as they should have or as LEXUS reccommends. Either way the LS400 for less then 6k is great. GOOD LUCK
  7. I have a group of friends in New Orleans and Beloxi who have nothing, but hope. This disaster is over 120 miles long. Its everything from New Orleans, LA to Mobile, Alabama. Just like 9/11 there are things that could have been done. They system has flaws and areas that need attention. Maybe we should have raised taxes 5% to fix the levies. No one would have allowed this. As for the actual rescue effort. FEMA and Red Cross were on the scean days before. The only way to get there is drive. It takes a day to mobilize troops (now will be done in advace). It takes a few days to get food and everything to the scean. If one were to drop food in the middle of people who are fighting over ice they would kill each other. The bottom line is like the war there is no perfect answer.
  8. Hey ladies and gents. Did you hear over the past 5 years New Orleans has lost one acer of swamp land every 24 seconds. Before this time that surved as a buffer for water levels. Some people are saying this made a difference. I would say Blakes family was smart or dumb luck. Their property was above sea level so good for you. I think the crazy people in the streets hit the !Removed! first. I know when I was in a riot everyone was drunk and doing things they would normally not due. On top of that no water/food or if they drank the dirty water would make them crazy. Last night I got an email from a friend who was one block from Gulfport shore: I lost everything in Katrina, but I am alive. We r running out of supplies and I will call when I can. I think people forget the damage is along 100 ground miles. This is not an isolated area so recovery and support takes time and about 50000 personal.
  9. Usually I do it when I just drove from some place far away and have to take a pis.. I try to hold until I am about to pee my pants. :) Hey I was thinking the cars that get 30 are probalby not in New England. Up here we have to many hills. This means the car has to use more gas to get up the hills. So I think 26 may be possible.
  10. I dont care what anyone says 80k miles is 80k miles. Check carfax and get an idea of who owned and how many miles they drove per year. Also look for leased, corporate and multiple owners. Second get VIN's and get ahold of LEXUS service at any dealership and ask to run them. They will let you know when and how much maintenance was done. Did you look at the generation web page that will give you an idea of the differences. The 93/94 is better since there is some new things including larger tires and brakes. I love the discount in taxes you get with either. Personally I would go with the lower miles all being equal (not sure about the Burgundy color). You save 1000 bucks off the top. I hear the engines are indifferential on both so if it breaks you would just be stuck untill AAA saves your butt. As for the repairs on the 93 if they were all over them the belt would have been done at 90k.
  11. Wow this is really great! I never used cruise control and now I am going to use it. 30mpg is more then most 6 cylinders get. I might go 55 for a 110 mile trip and see what happens? Then I will try 65 and 75. Its so hard not to have fun with the peddle. When I was in the outback of Georgia I drove about 40 miles with light on. In the end I had about a .75 gallon left.
  12. Wow this really is terrible. Looks lik New Orleans, Gulfport and Beloxi is really destroyed. I was just there last year for 2 months and I can not imagine what it looks like now. The pictures are just terrible.
  13. You drive 80 for 3 hours and get 30mpg? WOW I would think one would have to drive 55 to get that..
  14. I know the last thing most owners worry about is gas for their $50,000 LEXUS, but this may help us LS400 owners. :) Over the past few weeks I have continued to test my mileage as I drive from state to state and this is what I discovered. My typicall highway miles are at 75-80 mph. I keep the car between 2200 and 2800 rpm. I try to keep these factors consistent, but I am not a big fan of cruise control so its not constant. PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Windows down increases drag and thus decreases mpg. This is true. MPG went from 19/20 to 21 PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Cycling AC on and off helps mileage. This is true. Mileage went from 19/20 to 21. Combined I am at about 22mpg on a 80% highway and %20 city breakdown. Sometimes I also roll down the rear windows slightly and dont find much difference. Maybe this does not effect us that much, but a month ago I was at 380 and the orange light came on. So from then I have been open minded at ways to get this to at least 400. Anyone know how many miles the orange light covers?
  15. Hell yeah.. Maybe I need a new LS430 and the GS430. Reading these posts makes me want more! I say think knowing to accomplish this I need to stay focused and work smart!! Cant wait to earn my new LEXUS's.. The good thing is I feel great driving around my LS400. Feel like the king of the road!
  16. Yeah the GS is small.. I saw another one today and was like nice, but small. I love the fact my arms lay on the center consol and the door arm rest. My LS400 is so comfortable. So My next will be the 2000 LS400
  17. Man dont watch TV it says the same thing everyday. Just drive your LEXUS and when you see it getting dark the weather may get worse. When you see the sun coming out the weather may get better. :)
  18. LEXFEST was awesome and when I looked at the LEXUS's I started to think what would I want. There was some awesome SC and GS that really stood out. This one guy about 65 years old had an awesome cherry red SC that cought your eye. Then their was a brand new GS that was amazing. I really liked that LEXUS alot. As for the LS400/430 there were only a few of them. There was one new one and it was bigger then the rest (looked taller). I really like the style of the 98 & 2000 they looked great. After driving the G35 Infinity, Crown Vic, Altima, Camery and Lincoln over the past few months I still like my 93 interior better. I think the luxury is really great. Now with that being said I would love to see the new interior with the LS430's. It must be awesome. Anyone have pictures? In the end I obviouly like my 93LS since it is mine, but I think the GS is something special.
  19. I love the smell of the gas, so I will keep my old cap! AHHHH today my car will sit in Airport parking for 4 days. STINKS! Last time it was so dirty!! I have been using the polishes, waxes and glazes and the LEX looks awesome! Everyone now thinks it is a 2001. :) Yeah I am moving up daily! Cheers to you and LEXUS
  20. God bless you and your LEXUS's. We are all so hopeful this drops to a CAT 4. I was their for many of these storms and this one is really bad! So good luck and God Bless
  21. Wow that is kewl. I know the team LEXUS driver was talking about how much money was into that car. Damn I should have taken a picture. Cheers to LEXUS
  22. Ohh okay. I had no idea what is was. I thougth he said something about cutting the car down. No idea what is the point to that, but I am sure its an improvment.
  23. I would switch insurance and then talk to new agent about the issue. I mean damn if they are not covering you then what is the point of having them. I am sure you already talked to a ton of people inside and outside of the industry. Also did you file with BBB and the state insurance commission Good luck.
  24. There are plenty of good speakers out there. Go to BEST BUY and buy a new speaker or replace for free with LEXUS warentee
  25. Man its part of the game. They knew you would pay about 22k so they threw the bone out and you almost bit. As for the front ends. I might have been under the impression these cars have issues. Problably more with the pre 95 since they are over 10 years old. Secondly I drove a few (95-98) that were messed up, so I was concerned. As for IDIOT sales mgr pushing the hard sell. SCREW them. I know that car will sell for 19 or less. Good luck and hope I helped a bit
