  1. Yeah it stinks to drive with out AC.. My last car had no AC and the car before that had no heat.. No heat in the cold is worse then no AC. Reguardless I think the compressor is more often not the problem...
  2. Get a good mechanic that knows AC units to check it out.. Should cost about 100 bucks for the analysis.. Also if you get the $20 dollar gauge and 134 kit you can hook it up and get an idea if freon is in system. Then if its a bit below add a ounze or two. Good luck.
  3. Superpro.. Its a generic speaker, but they sound pretty good. I have had two in a box for 10 years.. Cheers, Chris
  4. Hey man.. I say 15 on the back and rear then 30 on the front sides. Cheers
  5. Company stated they have both.. A pen applicator and then a one ounce brush...
  6. Just talked to an expert.. He stated to check out fuses. Also the clutch coil often goes bad. This engages the AC unit. Often the compressor is not the issue.. If it does not start there are so many components that support the compressor.
  7. Ohh yeah one more thing. I suspect you tried the recharge already. Sometimes if the system tries to run without oil and freon compressor locks up.. The system typically has a sensor of some sort to prevent operation if low on freon. Maintenance on any system by a competent technician should be done with solid troubleshooting. Start with the cheepest potential solution and go from there. Now if one were to put freon into system and monitor pressure they would know quickly if system had a charge. If one were to inspect electrical components and wiring with a volt meter and blue prints they could potentially determine problem or problems. Reguardless try to find an experienced AC mechanic and make it like you have a clue.. System has pressure... System cycles on and off.. I have heard that replacing the AC compressor has worked for others.
  8. Hello heated LEXUS owner.. First I say you need to get a second opinion. Ask around and find an experienced AC mechanic in the local area. Have them check over the AC unit. Second get it recharged. If previous owner had system recharged and it worked there is a possibility system is ounce or two short. When system is low over an ounce it shuts down or cycles on and off. So when I recently got my Contour SE recharged it cost $80 bucks.. Now before you get recharge buy the $20 AC kit then hook it up. See if there is pressure then turn on AC. See if system cycles because of low pressure. Try to charge on the low side an ounce or two.. If this works you may have a small leak that requires you to charge yearly. If system has pressure and the compressor does not start there may be a relay or minor electrical problem. One could take out a blue print and check the wiring or get a professional to inspect. Now if you go to shop and state what you found you might get a discount. The guy will know that you have a clue, most people dont. Good luck and check this out since a $200 dollar repair is much nicer then a new $40,000 purchase.
  9. Hey ladies and gents. I think the tint, wheels and tires are good upgrades.. I suspect the Orbitz 7424 and detailing kit I bought will also be a wonderful modification. I also added the clear front bumper light covers that I like.
  10. I have a bunch of little nicks, but one nickle size chip so what should I get? Maybe I need both a pen and 1oz bottle? Advice is appreciated.
  11. Thanks.. Now I need to get the 1500 sand paper.. I am going to practice some things on my old contour.. I knew there was a reason to keep it.. YIPPPEEEEE
  12. 30 bucks for this is good for me. iRiver AFT 100 Great reviews and you can set for any station
  13. Hello LEXUS america.. Kewl story... Last month I was a military base. I had my eagle with the USAF plate. I must have had 5 people salute me. Everyone thought I was a general and I thought that was kewl. Sorta funny!
  14. Hello.. As I was about to order basecote, clearcote and primer I noticed there were more options.. What do I need.. There is rubbing compound and acrylic lacquer thiner.. There is a ton of other things on this site. https://www.paintscratch.com Right now I have a nickle paint chip to the metal.. This moron who detailed my car just applied some paint to it.. Now the rust is coming through. Also I have a few little nicks in the paint here and there. MY STEPS TO SUCCESS!! I figure a good cleaning.. Then sand that chip down and add primer, base and clearcote.. Then I am going to use Klasse All in one to strip car... Then use 7424 and sonus 2 to polish car.. After that I am going to use the Klasse Glaze. Plesae say a prayer and wish me luck. Ohh yeah some advice will also help..
  15. Long live the LS. Funny but when I was super poor college student I never looked at automobiles, but now I am looking at everything. I seen the new Avalon and it is nice. I saw some Jags and they are interesting (interior does not look like it lasts). I have driven a ton of things from Expeditions to Altimas. Its been a fun journey, but the awe of LEXUS is awesome! After three months of ownership and only a month in the LEXUS I am a very happy owner. This car is amazing as we all know. I wonder how much better the new rides are then the 93-98's? YES tomorrow I get to drive my LEXUS again! Ohh yeah.. I get to see my awesome wife also!
  16. As for maintenance there is a difference... Preventive maintenance is good. I know a post 2000 should not have issues, but if someone has 110k you would like to see a new timing belt and regular tune ups. Some people focus on preventive maintenance which is taking care of potential issues before they happen. This is very good. If you see someone with a new 50,000 dollar car who does not get the regular check ups I would question how well they took care of the LEXUS. Now I am not saying that someone has to do everything to the T, but that is a good sign. Also many owners take extreme care of their new LEXUS. Damn us poor folk take great care of our 93 LEXUS's. :) Cheers to LEXUS
  17. Like I said my experiences are with a 93LS with 90k miles. I am sure things are changing, but I know my friends who have leased automobiles pound the hell out of them. I know when I have a leased or rented auto its a bit easier to slam a gear, play around and abuse. So a leased auto can be abused. Check carfax and maintenance record. Good luck..
  18. Check out EBAY.. Also does IPOD MP3's only work on IPOD stuff.. What I am trying to say is I have about 2,000 MP3 songs that are in the MP3 format. Not encripted with Apple security format. So all these IPOD products will not play my songs? So I guess I am going to spend 30 bucks for the lighter charged transmitter for my generic 1 gig player. 30 bucks so I can play my own songs. Cheers.
  19. As I was flying across the pacific I looked that the skytravel magazine. Well in there was this device that plugs into cigarette lighter and transmits MP3's. There are a few different options, but I am going to try one. http://chinasuppliers.alibaba.com/search/c..._Lighter/4.html I know in the past I bought one for a home setup and it sucked, but maybe now they are better. Anyone have any experience?
  20. I am not an expert on any LEXUS, but checking carfax is critical. If you see the car was a lease stay away. Contact LEXUS and get maintenance record. If either car has not been taken care by LEXUS I would be concerned. I say this since they both were with in the warentee. Reguardless I have a 93 and it is awesome! The car is a fast tank and the best car I have ever driven. Cheers to LEXUS!
  21. Congrats.. There seems to be a trend of people buying LS400's. What a deal and what a car!! I LOVE MY LEXUS!!
  22. No idea.. Wow I am excited to see the LEXUS's at the LEXFEST!!
  23. Wow I need chrome! I like the way your car looks. Cheers to LEXUS.. I need a new picture of my LEXUS
