is250 F-Sport question
TrevC replied to bill98388's topic in Lexus IS 250 / IS Turbo / IS300 / IS350 / F Sport Club
Hi Bill....welcome to the Forum As far as I know (not actually owning an F) it is much more enhanced but also just as important is the residual value on resale will be higher with an F badge on it. Keep us update on your purchasing decision Cheers Trevor -
If the sensor is out on the readings then essentially, more fuel can be injected and this can lead to poor MPG
-
I would advise you take it to an auto electrician as if the vehicle is powered up with the ignition key out this could be quite a serious issue. Worth getting it checked before it leads to something more serious.

Dash lights, speedometer, temp guage, ac
TrevC replied to pappastratos's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
You could attempt a battery reset to see if everything reboots to where it should be. Also, check the condition of the battery and terminal connections as this could cause all these electrical issues -
I always believe that checking the vehicle settings ... regularly serviced, quality fuel, correct tyre pressures, correct oil level and use quality oil, excess weight (carrying stuff in the trunk), roof bars, etc all help or hinder getting better MPG.

How long after parking it in the garage do you hear the noise?

Have you checked the fuses?

Hi David...welcome to the Forum It sounds like it could be a wheel/hub bearing. Worth dropping into the garage for them to spin each wheel to hear which one is grumbling. Alternatively, it could be the propshaft centre bearing causing the noise...also,easy enough to check out. Let us know what you find Cheers Trevor

Excessive Cranking, Battery Drained.
TrevC replied to ElijahxF's topic in 92 - 00 Lexus SC300 / SC400
Hi Elijah...welcome to the Forum I would start with replacing the fuel filter and ensuring that all hoses and connections are secure as if it draws air when stationary this could cause the problems you are experiencing. I would probably also change the spark plugs if they are not new as this could also affect the starting. Let us know how you get on with it all Cheers Trevor -
Hi...welcome to the Forum I would be tempted to measure each individual wheel speed sensor for resistance or scope waveform to determine if they are all working okay. Also, check tyre pressures...sounds daft but ABS measures wheel rotation and if the rolling diameter is altered by for example, one of the tyre treads being substantially lower than another or tyre pressures lower than another this can trigger a fault. Let us know how you get on with this fault Cheers Trevor

I totally agree...NGK or Denso all the way

2007 Lexus ES350 transmission stutter and steering wheel vibration
TrevC replied to kattru01's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
Hi Kathy...welcome to the Forum It sounds like you have an engine running issue which is being transmitted through the auto trans making it appear to be a transmission fault. I would run checks on the engine first. The shudder is warped brake rotors, you can get these checked by a garage who can measure the run-out on them and replace if excessive. Cheers Trevor -
Usually it should relearn...not entirely sure of the reset procedure though. Could try a combination of pressing the window button while switching the ignition on/off or similar

Hi Paul....welcome to the Forum On a convertible, yes. designed to allow the door to open without the door glass catching on the soft top (window pulls up under the top to seal efficiently) Cheers Trevor
-
Genuine Original Equipment (OE) is always favourable as you know they have been designed to work efficiently within the engine.

wider tyres would probably not give crisp handling in corners :-(

Hi John....welcome to the Forum Cold air intake system is one option but have you also considered ECU Remapping or a Tuning Box? Instant power increase and cheap to do without having to change components in the engine bay. Cheers Trevor

80MPH my car starts to stink
TrevC replied to is250doll's topic in Lexus IS 250 / IS Turbo / IS300 / IS350 / F Sport Club
If the Cat is smelling then usually it is an ignition misfire causing the Cat to overheat and produce the sulphur smell Excess oxygen levels can also cause the Cat to overheat so if there is a small leak in any part of the exhaust system upstream of the Cat or a major leak in the inlet manifold then this can also cause it -
Hi Gary It does sound like the transmission is not engaging correctly and applying full hydraulic pressure....could be a sensor issue. I would definitely take it back to the dealers to run more tests as this is quite a dangerous occurrence by the sound of it Keep us update on how this progresses Cheers Trevor

Sounds like either a small leak from the exhaust (flexi-pipe or joint) or even the inlet manifold. I would check the exhaust system first as its easier to see where escaping gases are coming from. Plug the tailpipe with a rag over it to seal the exhaust and you will hear any leaks by the hissing noises.
