  1. That is what the wife says, OHHH, All kidding on the side I like the look of it, I was/am considering adding some to the interior of my G3. I think subtle upgrades are appropriate. Just don't go overboard. It will be classy. ;)
  2. Thanx for making yourself perfectly clear, I guess the snumani in over :D Thanx Again
  3. I agree, These boards have to loosen up and shouldn't take things so damn serious. Anyway What was that joke?
  4. Why would I ban you?!? I think you misunderstood my comment, its not an insult. You're not worth it, I'm not worth it, no customer is worth it. A lot of times dealership customers, especially luxury car customers, get this idea that their business is so valuable to the dealership that if they refuse ANY request, no matter how unreasonable, they're personally insulting them. These people need to realize that they're not worth a certain level of hassle. The reason I would have been banned is that as I see it If a member stands there position and Mgt. disagrees or just doesn't want to put up with it on these boards That is usually the result, I stand my ground and spoke my mind and thought you might ban me. There are so many other sites that are much more lenient and flexible with there members, After all it takes all kinds. I just wish that members could have a little more slack/ opinions/ fun/ etc... Sometimes the typed word is taken the wrong way and I would like to see improvements in the buffering of this media, Time will tell and advancements will occur. This is just one of those times that is probably going to improve the communication on the www/internet. Thanx for your time/consideration.
  5. The stock wiring for the audio system is integrated into the main wiring harness of the car.Several wires carry several signals [ shared ] So if any stock wiring was used for the aftermarket setup that is your problem, When upgrading to a aftermarket system you have to totally rewire the system seperately or you will have interference. Good luck
  6. OK, Chalk it up to a bad day. Army let's go have a and forget about it. Better days coming. Blah Blah Blah. sure thing mangh. :D ;)
  7. JIBBY, If you're going to be a member of this board, you will address the other members with respect in every post. If you're not willing to do that then we will show you the door. You've consistently tried to insult and undermine the position of everyone who has disagreed with you here by insinuating that we have no right to discuss this with you because of your "experience". I've tried to be respectful to you at every turn and have politely attempted to discuss your experience with you as have others and its been met with snide remarks, eye rolling, and groans. Thats your only warning. As far as age is concerned, did I direct any discussion or comments about age towards you? No. I directed them at Monarch. If the spelling correction insulted you I apologize, but I think it was more than just payback for the snide comments from you the rest of us have endured throughout this discussion. If you think I'm too book smart to know anything about cars simply because I can properly spell "transmission", I think I can probably live with that. Jibby, I'm with you, Some threads are just too damn sensitive, Give it up, It's not worth it. We know what's best, And you know what I mean. Better threads coming. ;)
  8. OK, Chalk it up to a bad day. Army let's go have a and forget about it. Better days coming. Blah Blah Blah.
  9. No one is "condoning the big business stealer attitude" as you put it. We're simply saying that a dealership is simply a business run by people, if you treat them with respect and understand the limitations of what they can do for you and not demand that they go outside of those limitations then there is no reason to not expect wonderful service coming back at you. They're just people, and if you have good people they're not going to try and rip you off. If you go around expecting everyone to be trying to rip you off, then everybody's going to try and rip you off. It sounds to me like you feel entitled to have everyone around you move heaven and earth for you and haven't figured out that you're not worth it. No customer is deserving of the right to be disrespectful or unreasonable towards a business they patronize and customers like that aren't worth trying to keep for these reasons: 1. They reduce the business' ability to efficiently transact business because they always find problems or create problems when there are none, they take up time of many different officials in the business such as supervisors etc. 2. They will never be pleasable because they don't want to be satisfied with the service the dealership can reasonably deliver. 3. They will never be loyal customers and you will never recicve any referrals. In short, the business' resources are wasted on customers like that so its best to cut them loose and concentrate on your better customers. Honestly I don't think theres anything the dealership could do to make you happy because of your attitude, you are the quintissential example of a customer that creates their own poor and stressful car dealership experience IMHO. As for the original topic, best thing to do is just to take it back to the dealer you bought it from and give them the opportunity to fix it. I'm sure they will. It sounds to me like you feel entitled to have everyone around you move heaven and earth for you and haven't figured out that you're not worth it. Who are you to pass judjment on me? If you feel that I am not worth it, Then you must be in the same boat. I am thouroughy disgusted with your opinions and high handed attitude. Ban me, I have all the time in the world and am very popular on many other forums, I have contributed to these forums more so than 99% of the members. Take a look at your position and reconsider your last post. My feelings will never be hurt nor will they ever change. It's been a nice ride. Love my LEX See Ya!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. BMW and Lexus have different policies about the use of synthetic oil. BMW allows oil change intervals to be extended up to 1 year / 15,000 miles if certain synthetics are used: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y189/mastertech/BMW.jpg Corporate Lexus's policy, published on lexus.com is as follows: "Synthetic oil can be used at the first scheduled oil change. Please note that the use of synthetic oil does not extend the recommended oil change intervals. Even if synthetic oil is used, we do not recommend longer oil change intervals. Once synthetic oil is used, it is best not to switch back to petroleum-based oil." monarch, Read my last post. :chairshot:
  11. Here's what a Ford F-150 truck engineer had to say about Ford Truck durability standards in 1997 and earlier years: http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_...v31/ai_17489004 "By far, the '97 F-150 is the most thoroughly researched product Ford Motor Co. has ever brought to market," says Thomas D. Baughman, chief program engineer on the F-Series. "Where we used to test our fullsize pick-ups to seven-year levels, the new F-150 was tested to reach 10 years of dependable service." "We raised our durability test standards half-again as much. Our old standard was 100,000 miles of equivalent customer durability. The standard for the '97 F-150 was a whopping 150,000 miles." Monarch, I am in the mood to call you out, Confess, What is your affiliation with toyota? Tell us your backround now or you probably will never be taken seriousy ever again, Get real or your future posts will be taken as air in my and many others eyes. I think your bunk. My opinion, No offense given, But you have to come clean once and for all. It's about time that someone stood up and called Monarch's hand. Who really cares anyway?????????????????????????????/
  12. Unfortunatly, Threads go awray, It happens all the time. If threads stayed on topic boredom would probably set in. It is all in good conversation/fun/and really keeping the boards on the web alive. So join in and have fun, Just don't cuss and be understanding of others. Have a good time FK, I think my new hip has something to do with my posts, Damn, I guess you just have to go through it to understand. It is truly the best tranportation that is on this earth. [ Walking ] God, We are so fortunate to be able to move forward in a physical way, Much less drive through it. God Bless!!!!!!!!
  13. You've just illustrated my point. You shouldn't have to do any of those things to insure you have a good service experience. That is no way to run a company of any sort. I, too am an informed customer and have to take similar steps to ensure the job is done properly. My point is that this shouldn't happen to begin with..This isn't some backstreet repair shop, it's a Lexus dealer charging you top dollar. If someone wants to charge me top dollar, then I expect my experience to reflect what I paid for. They routinely give me a 10% discount on parts and labor. This past time the Asst Service Manager reduced the Fan Clutch and Thermostat repair from $600 to $375 in light of the thousands I've spent in Service over the past year. That is called Service, and he's the only reason I continue to go to that dealership and let them off easy for what they messed up last time. While I don't advocate being unreasonable, I do think they need to reminded who they are working for from time to time. While I'm not hostile with them, they know I have high expectations given what I pay. That isn't backed up by any "goodwill" but the threat of action if things are not done properly. It's become an adversarial relationship solely due to their own actions in the past. I shouldn't have to deal with Service Writer pushing for $4,000 in unneeded suspension work, charging me $2,250 and NOT fixing the problem, giving me a car with Trim pieces shoved underneath the hood? Repairs done of such poor quality I had to return to the dealer 7 times to get it done right? Body work done by their contractor that peels within a year? Or should I have to deal with Service Managers who claim they will continue to change parts at will and charge me $$$ for it. (This is after collecting $3,000!!) Fool me once Shame on You, Fool me Twice, Shame on Me! Sam Thanx for all the support, I for one will NEVER back down from any institution that deems themselves right over the consumer, That would simply prove my point, I, As a paying consumer literally run there business, Those of you who condone there wills and ways to rip off the consumer will ultimately become a rip off yourself [ or at least condone the negative activity of bad business ], There are unfortunately two sides of the fence [ man made ] but you know that the grass on both sides is the same. So take your "I am in favor of the stealer/big business attitude" And rethink it. After all We the people have the ultimate power. I will stand my ground to the end, So go pay and patronise the stealer and eat there doughnuts and expensive coffee but when all is said and done remember this, You are the one that chose to drive what you drive and you are in control of your own future. DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. I certainly didn't want to come across as a overly demanding customer, What I am saying is one should always hold there ground and never let the stealer push you around. The customer is usually always right after all it $$$ we are talking about and service is never first .They are in business to make $$$ and we as customers pay there way. As a paying customer I want the best service/treatment just like the guy next to me. As far as understanding a commision based business well that is what you chose to do for your livelyhood, No problem there But you also have to take in to consideration how the rest of us feel. Who take home a salary or hourly wage, So your understanding is one sided on this topic. All is good but there are different strokes for different folks. No offense given and none taken. I have been taken advantage of in the past and am very firm in my convictions. That's all.
  15. I beleive you access the servo through the glovebox, You have to take out the glovebox liner and you should be able to see it.
  16. A LS for a loaner is probably out of the question, But I like to stick it to the stealer when I can So I am very demanding just like they are when it comes to paying the bill. Push your dealer for the best/most that they offer. You will be surprised how they react when you start telling them what you expect from them. Good Luck and keep us informed on what happens.
  17. No one will rank you poorly! ;) But, the point of this thread is still being misconstrued as a Lexus v. Lincoln brawl. No one is comparing the 4.0 to the 4.6; we all know the 4.0 is a more refined, better built engine. That said, it does not mean the 4.6 is an oil burning piece of $hit that won't make it past 80,000 miles when there are thousands and thousands of them going past 500k miles and still running great. Yeah, I know there are plenty of engines out there that will go 3-5 hundred thousand without too many problems but I think we are also a little biased on these boards. Matbe we are a little off topic here too, After all it is about a lexus v6 making the top ten best motors. I guess we all have our opinions and respectively so. But I wouldn't have anything else but a LEXUS and I would never ever buy a american car again. This has been a fun thread. B)
  18. Army, Over 3 years ago I had 2 speeding tickets and my ins. never went up. My agent knew of the tickets but the ins. co. never checked so my premiums never went up. Now after 3 years my ins. has premium has gone down 25%. That was a close one.
  19. No one is saying that they don't like their Lexus or anything of the sort. No doubt that the Lexus V8 is better built than the Ford 4.6, the huge price differences account for the different build qualities. However, to immediately dismiss the Ford motor that can undoubtedly go hundreds and hundreds of thousands of trouble free miles is more than questionable. This equivocal remark is what sparked this thread: Where would one start with that? It's fantastic to see how grounded in reality we are when hundreds and hundreds of thousands of miles on the odometers of real life cars mean nothing. LOL There's nothing like a little irony! You're talking trash about the 4.6, and the trash can't be backed up. That's what I call substance and knowledge! OK, Compare the 4.6 to the 4.0 The 4.0 all the way, More horse, Better built. And it is in one of the best built cars on this earth. Can't argue that, Well you could but no one is going to listen. I have a bud that has the 40th anniversery stang and is kicking himself in the !Removed! for buying it after he found out about the 4.0 LEX and it's ability's. I am personally done with this. I love the 3.0 l6 It is a better motor than the 4.0 will ever be. See Ya ! ! ! Just my opinion. Don't rank me too bad, Thanx. ;)
  20. There are no better motors on this god given earth than the early 89-92 LS motors. Go out and find a american made motor that was made in those years and dyno them, after you have wasted your time and $ on that project go out and turn over your early model LS and dyno that. That is truly an investment. At least twice the motor in the long run. And don't even bother trying to tell me to do it myself, You aren't even old enough to last the test before you decide to buy something else. Really, Think about it. The japanese V8 will out last your wants, Not only your needs. This is just too much fun :D Jibby, Lets go have one.
  21. If it is still under warranty bring it in and tell them to fix it... Don't settle for anything else. The dealer is responsible. After all why is there a warranty???
  22. Toyota has been building 400,000 mile capable 4 cylinder engines since before you, ArmyofOne, Toysrme & SWO3ES were born: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y189/mastertech/74h.jpg Here's how Tom & Ray, the radio talk show mechanics, size up the Foreign vs. Domestic debate: CLICK & CLACK : Foreign vs. Domestic, Washington Post Sunday, May 8, 2005: RAY: In terms of reliability only, Consumer Reports called 15 cars "Most Reliable," based on detailed reports from thousands of owners. Every single one of the "Most Reliable" cars is Japanese. TOM: Of the 14 dubbed "Least Reliable," nine are European, two are Japanese, one is Korean and one is American (the Lincoln Navigator). RAY: Now, you may argue that Consumer Reports is a traitor, too. But we think their evaluations -- especially those regarding reliability and safety -- are pretty darned good. And they say that, in general, American cars -- while much better than they used to be -- are average to slightly below-average in reliability when compared with today's competition. OK, Guys, I have been following this and it seems to me that everyone is right and wrong, So big deal, I would bet my other hip on a Japanese motor over any american made boat anchor simply because I have had the pleasure and displeasure of owning both, After all that is why I am driving a straight 6 now, Clearly the finest balanced motor ever[ I don't really give a sh$t what you think ] Anyway, If you don't care for your lexus motor sell the thing and get off this thread, If you beleive that there are better american motors made then go to your respective forums and praise all you want [ who really cares? ] The japanese motors that were originally intoduced to the american market will never be beat for the life of them... NOS or not it really doesn't matter. The early japanese 8cyl. will probably never be superceded because of cost alone. So all you folks that say that the LEXUS V8 is sub american V8 sell your LEXUS today and come back and post your findings next year at this time. I will be here will you???
  23. Have you brought this up to the dealer that you bought the car from? Or are you just :cries: because you just don't know how to use the nav? Take a deep breath and read the manual at least twice, OK, Read it again, Really take that deep breath, Now it should make sense, You are the only one on these forums that has really had a problem with this. Consider the source. DEEP BREATH, EXHALE, DEEP BREATH, EXHALE, OK, Now you got it. ;)
  24. Stevie, You are all over that, 0-140 then I will give your car back By that time my car will be dry.:whistles: I don't know what I'm talking about I think this foreign object is taking over,
