  1. Freon is something that doesn't need topping off if there is no leak. Topping off once is a good indication of what's to come. Topping off twice requires leak fix.
  2. Strut cushion attaches to the end of strut rod, whereas strut bumper attaches to the end of the shock absorber to prevent shock from bottoming out.
  3. The cost depends on which oil pan is leaking. If it's the upper, it's going to cost you quite a bit in labor. If it's lower, the level of difficulty is on par with removing transmision pan (hint: a bit more difficult than changing oil and filter). Unless your dealer is a super stealer, that price is probably the upper pan. :cries:
  4. My 1st gen LS with ODBI DOES retain engine codes even with the engine off. That is why one has to remove power to the ECU to clear recent codes from memory. Also, the ECU is programmed to purge old codes if it doesn't see the same codes again for a certain number of engine on-off cycles. Go ahead and pull the codes if CEL came on recently.
  5. Sound like somebody got to those bolts before you did cause the torque spec for those bolt is 29ft-lb for US model.
  6. Part #48674-50030 is the strut bushing which comes with the mount so we are back to square one again. We are trying to get the bushing only without the mount but it doesn't look promising.
  7. The rear strut rod has only one bushing which is 48725-22110. I think grease fitting is a must with polyurethane. I have not had to regrease those bushings yet.
  8. I replaced UCA bushings with aftermarket polyurethane, and after one month, those bushings squeaked like a pig in heat. I could not stand the noise anymore so I took the UCA out and installed the grease fittings. Now I can grease those bushings in a minute without having to remove the wheels. I read quite a few posts from people with Daizen bushings but not many complain about squeak. Are Daizen bushings that good or people don't want to admit they make a mistake going for Daizen? Arkansawyer, I suggest you replace the rear carrier bushings first as that resolved my vibration problems during braking. There is also another Toyota Cressida bushing (48725-22110) at the other end of the LS rear carrier arm.
  9. Part# 4867440051 is the Toyota part and not Lexus so any Toyota dealer can get it. Great finding by the way.
  10. There is no aftermarket strut bar cushion for 91LS, only OEM costing at least $100. Part #4867450030 is the correct part but if it can be substituted with part #4867440051, then you're on to something good. Check out part #4867440051 and let us know would you?
  11. My LS has a slight (~1/4 second) hesitation at ~1200RPM in the first gear when accelerating lightly from stop. Does this sound like the "dead" spot your new O2 sensor fixed? Is there a web link to the O2 you purchased? Thanks.
  12. Skip the resurfacing and go directly to the pads. You won't notice a difference except for a heavier wallet.
  13. I am getting new wheels and tires to replace the existing corroded ones, thus, won't be able to put those center caps to good use for long and would like to pass up those caps to a better home. Thank you! Hopefully, I can provide a good home for your next gift(s). :whistles:
  14. 600h meant an equivalent to 6.0L nonhybrid engine not 6.0L gasoline engine displacement.
  15. Sometimes Lexus only sell the whole assembly and not individual parts within that assembly.
  16. Wow, just when I need those center caps badly. I have 93LS with OEM chrome wheels and the center caps are very dulled and lose on the wheels from abuse by the previous owner. I lost two center caps (not sure how but they probably fell off) and the existing two could fall off anytime. I would gladly pay the shipping for those four center caps. Thanks.
  17. sapper_daddy, I have those two new tensioners. PM my if you want them.
  18. Skip the tube if you cannot attach it. It's not a big deal! Have a pan ready to catch fluid coming out and clean up afterward.
  19. Struts at all four. Weak or broken spring?
  20. LS has variable power assist steering feature. More assist at stationary and low speed by increasing idle speed and less assist at higher speed. What you observed make sense.
  21. Yes, my manual also detailed the procedure. All you need is the code and the manual and you'll be set.
  22. I have seen cars with glowing orange cat moving on the highway. Perhaps you can do similar test?
