  1. My erratic gas mileage has been driving me insane!!!! As you know, I have even gotten Lexus involved. Yesterday I was on my weekly trek to Tunica going down the interstate at 75. I looked at my average mileage and it was 24. When I drove to South Carolina I averaged 31. I was just staining my brain to try to figure out what the variable was when DUH!!!!!!!!!! It hit me like a ton of bricks. It is the difference in me driving with my top up and the car is all sleek and aerodynamic, and having the top down and the wind all swirling around and into my car! Except for the drive to and from SC, I bet my top hasn't been up an hour since I retired. No wonder my mileage has dropped so. Can you believe that the dealership and Lexus couldn't figure that out. Sometimes it just takes a blond. I'm going to call Lexus and tell them. The girl that was helping me was so nice.
  2. I wish I could find a Chevron near me. I think the Techron would benefit my 250.
  3. I would get 2 of them together and look at them. Do all the mounting screws line up?
  4. My mom's Avalon was severely hail damaged. We just took it to Abra. They did an awesome job. I never could tell it had been done, but since it was my moms car, I never really gave it a close inspection on the underneath parts. I bought a black WS6 Trans-Am that had a small dent that looked like maybe the robot that installed the back glass had missed. The dealership paid the Dent Doctor to come to my office and fix it. The kid was great and loved my car. He wouldn't drill in the door jamb so he removed all the plastic in the back and did it through a speaker hole. It was amazing to watch him. I think as everything it depends on who is doing the job and how much they care about their craft. I'm sorry your pretty car was damaged.
  5. Take that bad boy on a trip down I40 through the Smokies if you really want a fun drive. So awesome. My car is heavy too. All that gear that folds up the top and lowers and raises it is probably the issue. Heck....just think how much of that weight is airbags and the mechanics that controls them.
  6. I saw some regular for $2.99 yesterday. With my Kroger card, I can usually get my 93 octane for around $3.50. In case y'all don't know what Krogers is, it is a large grocery chain and you get gas discounts for buying groceries and getting perscriptions filled.
  7. Drivers in Memphis aren't rude....they are idiots. Most of them don't have any insurance either.
  8. I always feel like if you are happy with the car, it was a good deal. Sounds like it was well cared for. Welcome to LOC!
  9. I have slacked off a lot. I used to be totally ridiculous. My '95 Z28 I had....when I would get a new license plate decal, I would take off the plate scrub it, wax it, wax behind it. When I sold it and removed the plate, the new owner couldn't believe that it was so clean and shiny back there. I'm not that anal anymore.
  10. That would be awesome, but it would have to be climate controlled and concrete floor. Not only would I want cars, I would want cool memorabilia...old gas pumps and metal signs and stuff. Collecting it would be half the fun.
  11. If i do it, I will clay bar first. Thanks for the advice.
  12. Wow. Can you believe that there is actually a place in the Memphis area where I can buy that? Might give it a shot. Maybe next spring. I just waxed my car.
  13. I doubt that I will ever own more than one car again. It was too hard to keep 2 cars up to my standards. I would spend all day detailing my Camaro, then it would sit in the garage for months and collect dust. I just want one nice car, unless someday I'm able to afford and obtain a nice first gen Camaro. I don't see that happening though. Nice ones have gotten out of site price wise.
  14. Not even on Amazon?!?!?! I thought you could get everything on Amazon. :-) Where do you get it? Does it leave a residue?
  15. This is the reason I bought a 250 instead of springing for a 350. If you googled the town I live in, you would see that it is the biggest speed trap in the state. You best not get over 40 mph. I have a little funny story about the last time I got wild in this town. Back when I still had my Z28, I was coming home from a car club meeting and feeling frisky. That car was a real redneck delight. Loud pipes, supercharger....the works. I was coming through a warehouse area, and being a Saturday, it was completely deserted. I stopped the car, looked around....there wasn't anybody in site. I torqued it up and nailed it. Burned the tires all the way through 2nd gear, fish tailing all the way. A real yeehaw moment. When I slowed back down to cruising speed, I looked in my mirror and there was a white charger right on my !Removed!. I just kept looking straight ahead and drove the speed limit. He came up beside me, cruised there a second and took on off. He was probably laughing when he saw an old lady driving the car. If I had been a young man, he would have nailed me. I would love to have heard the stories he told back at the station. It was then and there I decided I really didn't need a hot rod anymore. I don't go to the track anymore and there is nowhere you can really enjoy horsepower. Sad. :-(
  16. I would never run my car through an automatic car wash. NEVER! Go to AZ and get some Zymol wash. It is rich and yummy and smells like a piña colada. Rich lather. Worth the price.
  17. Just picked it up. When you get Lexus involved, it must really light a fire under their butt. He said they did what I said I was going to do....stopped it in half cycle and lubricated every piece of rubber. Totally silent on the way home. I guess I will probably benefit from doing that procedure annually. Don't really know what they did for the gas mileage, but they did plug it in and it showed nothing wrong with my engine. I'll see how I do next week on my trip to Charleston, SC.
  18. It sure was nice. But, I just picked my ISC.....it is just a perfect car for me. Fits like a glove (I'm short)
  19. Getting back on the subject of a GS, I'm driving a black, fully loaded beauty as a loaner right now. WOW! I think it has plenty of pizzazz. If I ever grow up and get a big girl car, this would be the one. Absolutely beautiful and is like driving a cloud.
  20. Paul baby......they are NOT just cars. They are living, breathing sources of bliss. :-)
