  1. In my mind, I can't justify M1 super syn as being at fault for your oil leaks. The conventional oil you(and the previous owner) have been using has probably been clogging the areas where your 94 is leaking. I have a 95 LS with 238.8k miles. When I bought the car I switched to M1 super syn 5w30, and I have no regrets whatsoever. B) I've been driving the car for almost 15k with nothing but great results from M1.
  2. I'm sorry to hear that you are leaving. Be sure to stop by for a visit every now and then, and hopefully, you buy another Lex again. ;) Good luck with the Malibu.
  3. He's probably looking at PO420 or 430. I remember a while back when you(Jacob) were discussing this, and I told you there was a procedure to check the O2 sensors. I finally found it in the book. I can post it up tomorrow since I don't have the books with me. I had a PO430 a little while ago. I was hoping that a piece of trash was on one of the O2 sensors, and sure enough after I blew the car out 75mph in 2nd gear, the light went out shortly thereafter. And hearing the V8 scream was a joy!! B) Let's hope the MAF is not broken since that's a $800+ part. :o 92 and Lex, thanks for the help with my low idle. It's still 80deg weather over here and the A/C is always cranked down 99% of the time, but I suppose I will need to take care of it soon. It does get kind of aggrovating when I park because the p/s pump groans like hell because it's trying to work off of 500-rpms. I like your method of adjusting the tps!! It seems about 100x easier than Lexus's! Thanks!! :D
  4. There is a manual trans ES300 in 92-93, but it was droped quickly because no one bought them-Road and Track said only 5%.
  5. I don't have any repair suggestionsl, but I can feel your pain...my '95 has a crazy low idle(in P and D4) when the a/c is off. It goes down under 500rpms, and hangs in the 400 range. The engine is perfectly 100% smooth even at that rediculous idle. However, when I turn the a/c on, the idle goes back to where it's supposed to be ~700rpms. The repair manual says the idle should be 650 +/-50. Here's a pic from a traffic jam the other day-I had the windows down because we actually had a nice day for once--a/c is off...
  6. $53k sounds like a great deal on an '05 considering that the MSRP is $58k+. There is a LOC member that has that exact car. I think he said Lexus of NO gave him about 8% off MSRP in '04. My aunt just bought a '05(either a Custom or Modern Lux...she doesn't know. I think I'm going to see her car today.) for a lousey $1500 off msrp. Lexus of NO and LeBlanc Lexus in BR's pricing are ususally hand in hand since they have the same owner. ;)
  7. Be sure to get a red/maroon, black, or white one with dark tint.:whistles: ← I'd have to get a white one because that's the color of the cruisers down here(upper level policemen get these really cool police Expeditions! I've seen late model Mustang Mach1 Police cars in Mississippi!!)! lol It'd be a fun car to have for a little while...I'd go the exact speed limit on the highway and see what kind of traffic congestion I could make!! lol Everyone is horrified of the Crown Vics, but I blow right past them as long as they don't have a state or public tags, and the black grill is usually a good indicator also. I've only seen like one or two Vics with civilian issue chrome grills. State Farm is really making this rental thing a pain in my !Removed!. They origionally wanted to stick me in a Cavilier...I laughed at the lady at State Farm when she said that, but she was serious. Neither will I drive or be seen in that embaressment of a vehicle. She agreed to move me to a Grand Am/Stratus, but I'm not going to accept that either. They told me to try everything that Enterprise has to offer in that specific Grand Am class, and if I can't safely fit into something, we'd try and meet on what she called "common ground." I'll pitch a fit-I've got a laundry list of safety issues in mind that I'll discuss, and see if she won't upgrade me to another class or 2. If I can get atleast one more upgrade(I guess a Taurus or Impala would be the next class), I'll only be out about $5 a day for the Lincoln; I'll be w/o my car for about a week, so I want the nicest available rental and being to fit my long legs in is always a plus even though State Farm seems to think otherwise. BTW, I never knew that Enterprise would rent to a 18y/o. For 18-20, they will only if it's for insurance purposes and if you have proof of insurance. Luckily, Enterprise is willing to rent me the biggest thing on their lot. They understand that tall people need big cars...it's rocket science(although I know State Farm is holding out for monitary reasons, but I shouldn't be both inconvienced by the damage to my LS and stuck in some god forsaken pontiac). I drop her off November 8 for the repairs.
  8. The door openings are too small, so it was indeed hard to get in and out. I had the seat all the back, and I was still miserable. I usually didn't have the sun shade open because the wind noise annoyed the hell out of me(it needed to be adjusted), but like you said, with it open, you can enjoy a couple extra inches of head room. I hate to speak badly about the car because it is superb even at 11 years old. As much as I don't like Chevy's(forgive me!), the generation of Silverado you drive has an excellent driving position for tall drivers.
  9. I'm 6'3...I test drove a RX300, and I found it pretty small; I love the style of the little truck though! In and out it's just great. I'm suprised that your '94 ES isn't killing you. I had to add a LS to the roster so that I could feel my legs after driving my '94 ES everyday(the ES is a first rate car other than it's petite size). lol
  10. Anita, she bought her car at LeBlanc Lex in Baton Rouge, LA. Sadly, the other Lexus delaer in New Orleans is owned by the same people, so their pricing is very similar. $1500 certainly isn't much, but her Benz needs several thousands worth of repairs.
  11. True!! :D Nothing's better than beige with gold emblems.
  12. I was talking to my uncle this evening(I was getting rental info from him since his 18y/o son has had rental cars before. He knows the manger of enterprise in case they give me any trouble!), and he suggested I become a storm chaser and find some acid rain! lmao Or maybe I should find a bad detailer with a good insurance policy! :whistles: lol Road Trip...lol It'd be fun!!
  13. I never did get the PC. I would love to drop the car with a pro and see what he could make out of the paint though deep down I still know that the car just needs paint and rightfully so after 238,19x miles of southern wrath with no clear coat. Sadly, I don't know of any good reputable detailers in this area or at home. I'd be way to nervous having some random stranger messing with my paint. Sounds like I just need to take a road trip up to DC! lol I'd have already paid you to detail my car if you were closer! I don't like to take discounts from friends except from my neighbor that works at a Toyota stealership...I mean dealership. lol :D ...I just looked it up you are about 1,120 miles away! That'd be a hell of a trip! lol
  14. Please delete this...I dunno how it got in here 2x.
  15. Excellent work Steve!!! They look great! That car is so gorgeous!
  16. My aunt just bought a '05 Cypress Pearl 430 Custom Lux for about $64k out the door. They only took about $1500 off the msrp, but they made up for it on her trade which was a 95 S320 lwb 102k miles that leaked oil and tranny fluid, the trunk was held shut with duck tape, and the rear quater panel needed to be painted since the car was backed into a mail box...$6500!
  17. Finally an update...I found a really nice body shop close to school that's going to do the repairs. I was relieved to see a '04+ LS430 and 2 ES's waiting to be repaired. I had them do an estimate for me, and they found $1,755.06 in damage. :o I decided to let them to do it for a few reasons but mainly because they aren't going to replace the door since the one on there now has the matching VIN sticker. They are going to pull the dent, put a new two tone molding on at the bottom(which they have listed as a $726 part?? I don't know where they buy their parts from. I checked ParkPlace Lexus's price, and they have it listed for something like $400), and blend it all together. The repair price will probably go up since I've been hearing a rattle in the door ever since the collision. This place quoted me $5,203.73 for a complete paint job on my car! :o WOW! I'm just going to live with the dismal paint for a while longer, and get the body shop near my house to do it for $3k. I must say that State Farm's claims service has been excellent! I got the claim number on Tuesday, and I can go drop my car as soon as the body shop can take me. I'm saying they are excellent now, but tomorrow, we are probably going to have a little tiff over the rental they want to stick me in. I'll settle for a Crown Vic, but I'm telling them to reserve a Lincoln or Caddy for me...because I'm not folding myself into some POS Malibu or Grand Am something. I'll have pics when it's all done with...
  18. If the RL didn't have the point at the bottom of its grill, it'd be a perfect match.

    2005 Mustang

Someone down my street has a C6...it's a great looking car, but his is a nasty tera cotta orange color. lol I haven't seen the interior in person though. I love the new Mustangs too!! I saw one on the interstate the other day; it is a great looking car! And, the interior is excellent!
  20. How is this not discrimination?? You are saying that what Steve is saying is invalid because his lack of his age-23 y/o. Encarta encyclpedia tends to disagree with you, "Discrimination, different treatment of others based solely on their membership in a socially distinct group or category, such as race, ethnicity, s*x, religion, age, or disability." Not only are your comments rude and offensive, but they are also uncalled for and out of line. I would expect someone of your age and experience to be able to look past something as trivial as his age. Steve has done nothing but present FACTUAL information proving that the RX line of vehicles are much more reliable than Jeep's vehicles, and all you've done is insult him. If you'd take the time to get to know him, you'd realize that he is a wealth of knowledge on many different aspects of cars-both the care of the car itself and the industry. But, to discount his research just because he is 23 is wrong on any day of the week. Before he told us that he is 23, I thought he was 53 because that's the way he composes himself. But, what do I know I'm just some stupid 18 y/o college kid??? I can't wait until I hit that certain age where I know everything about everything.
  21. It could of happened to anyone; it looked and was advertised as a good looking car and deal. The seller advertised it as a 10.5/10. Make sure he never sells another car on ebay again unless the car is repaired to perfect 10.5/10 condition or refunds your money. LOL, if he's the good Christian that he's claiming to be he wouldn't have sold you a car in such disrepair in the first place. ;) Screw him over just like he did to you; do what ever it takes to get what you want. It sounds like you've got a good plan of attack. Don't let him get away with this!
  22. I guess I'm the only one that doesn't eat thin mints? My siblings and I don't like mint flavored things, so I can blame it on genetics. lol The All Abouts are the best!! :D
  23. LMAO!! The 94 has the vertical slats, but they are extremely remote, not nearly as visible as the 92's.
  24. 92: 94: What do ya think?
