  1. She does get to 60 in well under 8 seconds; maybe it was someone else with 8.5 as I'm pretty sure that I said 7.8 to 60 and under 15 to 95-I'm very proud of this stat(and the 244k) on my car! :D I can email you the mpeg if you'd like(5.5mb). If she was going in 8.5, I'd be making the same thread alongside Craig!
  2. You are correct about the Bondo, SK. I can't figure out why they put Bondo on my car-come to find out after speaking with the guy incharge of repairing my car. He's claiming that the paint shrunk, and it wasn't there when my LS left the shop. As yall can see, there was no severe damage to my car-the dent didn't even have a crease in it. What makes it even more weird is the 'sanding marks' are under the side mirror which had no damage at all. I thought Bondo was for low-buck, half !Removed! repairs?? Should I be alarmed by it's use which I don't even know why it was done in the first place?? It sounds like a repaint is the unamimous decision-it seems like both of you guys know a thing or two about body work. I thought this body shop was half decent. Everytime I go I see 4-5 Lexi being repaired-usually LS's and ES's.
  3. Talk about a good guess on my part!! On monday, they're going to buff it, and if that fails, they will repaint.
  4. Just to give you an idea here's the damage my car took to merrit $1850 in damage..... Pretty shocking. There is a 1x1 area that they did not sand correctly(I guess....I know nothing about body work). It looks like a bunch of of scratches, but they are black, so they blend in very well. There are also some swirl marks too; my paint may be falling apart, but there are no swirls! lol The most embaressing thing is I didn't even notice it until a State Farm Agent came to inspect the work done on my car and pointed it out to me. I think I was just so happy to be out of the PT Cruiser, I didn't really care a whole lot so long as I got my LS back! lol Have you heard anything from the insurance co yet?
  5. I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I think it's most likely totaled. I believe most insurance co's pay up to 70% of the vehicles value toward a repair before it's totaled. My '95 was backed into recently to the tune of $1850-and the repair wasn't even done properly, so I'm in the middle of trying to get it repainted(the shop is 80 miles away ugh)...what a PITA. :(
  6. The Saturn and Prius quotes are great!! ES forum: "Please help...'98 ES starts and dies shortly after." The cupholders in my LS and ES both suck unless you have a 12oz can.
  7. She's in the 7.7/7.8 range to sixty!! :D ;)
  8. ..... ^I forgot who this car is for, but I'm guessing it's got just a little power at the wheels! lol The only Sportcross there owned by Gary(I believe. I only remembered like 3 of the 25 names I heard that day. I'm not good with names) from '.net' ^Some of my favorites!! That's right I love the '01 Taurus! :D
  9. Everything was awesome!! :D We couldn't have asked for better weather since it was perfect-low 60's with clear, sunny skies. It was nice to meet everyone that came out!! My old, high mile, un modded tank was very well recieved which was great. :D No one seemed to care about my sh_ty paint which was quite a relief!! Special thanks to Nate for the towel he gave me when my nose started bleeding and to Josh for the low-traffic directions out of Dallas! Josh, it was great to finally meet someone else that loves Ford! I saw many great looking cars, but nothing I'd want to trade my LS for. I can appreciate all of the turbos, body kits, rims, and what not as well as the work and funding that go into the cars, but it's just not my cup of tea. It was a great day until I had to drive 500 miles back home at night! Here's the best part-the pics..... ^My approach to the Dallas area. ^the meeting area with the bar-bque pits ^just a fraction of the IS's that showed up ^Derek's SC(southernSC), Nate's GS, and Raghan's(sp??) Sportdesign IS ^I love this pic!! My LS between "southernsc" and a SC400 ^Pretty much all of the non IS enthuisiast that showed up...props to those guys for getting like 10+ cars out there! ^Joe's car-tastefully done...I'm not sure what club he is with... more pics in the next post.....
  10. Even better is to ask the cop to hold your beer while you dig your registration out of the glovebox....it's from one of those 101 things to say to a cop chain letters!
  11. 6 people! I'll take the drive over; road trips are always fun in the LS! Just to make sure the navi has me going to the right park, is the park at 701 NW Green Oaks Blvd...Arlington 76006?? I'll be in the black, 95 LS4. :D I can't wait.... Blake
  12. Agreed...cops are people with bills and what not, but the vast majority of them(around here) have chips on their shoulders, and quiet frankly, around here, they break road rules worse than most other motorists. I was pulled over earlier this year for my inspection sticker that was 8 months past due(wooh!!). I was perfectly fine with getting the ticket...well I wasn't, but I knew I was at fault; I deserved it 100%. The worst part though was the cops attitude. He was extremely rude and disrespectful. He asked who the LS is for and what I was doing in a Lexus in a snide tone. He was completely out of line. I did/said nothing whatsoever to deserve his attitude. I was extremely polite...handed over my license, registration, and insurance...and signed on the line. ....I got the last laugh though-I had a friend in the pd "fix" my ticket at no cost to me. :D I'm perfectly fine with them doing their job, but they don't have to treat everyone like scum. Personally, I think police should be out to get people without insurance and driving drunk/hyped up on drugs rather than people going through yellow lights or going 10mph over the speed limits on interstates and rural hwy's. I thought I was going to get a speeding ticket the other day-good ole North Louisiana speed trap. I was going 65 in a 55, but then it drops to 45. Sure enough at the top of the hill, there was a cop. I canceled the crusie a little before the 45 zone, go past the cop, and he starts following me for about 10 miles. After he finally left me alone, I pulled over to put on some new pants. It was my lucky day!
  13. I'd love to have my car on there(I have tons of pics)!! I have an mpeg of it going 0-95 at 240,283 miles if you want that too! lol I was very glad to see that you spent so much time discussing that there are only 3 generations of LS vehicles especially since a lot of folks here like to call a 98-00 a gen III. What an excellent job with everything...the pics, the listed changes, everything. You should be very, very proud!! I love it! :D :D
  14. I'd get SRK to take it for a spin, listen to it, etc. He is very knowledgable about the LS's mechanics. Take him up on his offer!! Best of luck.....
  15. Wooh...snap out of it! j/k We have been and will continue to be loyal to the Lexus/Toyota name. I want a '98-'00 LS4 because I think they are the most beautiful things Lexus has ever created, so I want one to keep for a really long time. I think the only non Lexus brands I'll consider are Ford(I love their 250 SD diesel truck, Expedition, Town Car, and LSV8) and an unknown, non Lexus brand of sports car...for when I go through my midlife crisis(probably Porsche or Merc SL65.) .
  16. That is great!! :D You know you are a first time Lexus owner when...you've finally come to the realization that a smooth ride, elegant styling, first rate powertrain, boundless quality, and a smooth, controlled, cushy ride are more important than some sporty, hi tech, un-reliable contraption from our friends in Germany. :D
  17. I love the current Avalon...I guess I'm one of the few! :) I like the styling and interior room. Plus, the '05's(or 4's??) have an optional navi that is completely independant of all hvac and stereo controls-I believe it uses a remote. What a thought!! Call me old fashioned, but I like actual buttons rather than screens. :D Motor Trend made an excellent(well...I've never noticed it atleast!) observation...the dash on the current Avalon spans the entire width of the car just like many older American cars. Sadly, the Avalon was 4/4 in the test. It was prasied for its fit/finish, quality, quietness, and comfort but slammed for it's pillowy, boring ride. The 300C was first, followed by the Five Hundred, and Buick LaCrosse. I think the 300 is a stunning looking car--it's a no brainer, but I think that that there are many engines that are much more worth while than the Hemi which is its main barganing point. The new Avalon looks like a winner to me. If it's interior dimensions are better than the LS's, it'll definantly be on my list when my LS croaks(which may be a while...the damn thing is unstopable with 242.6k miles!!).
  18. Hott...yes with 2 "t's" sir!!! lol
  19. I had a motorvac service done on my ES300 at a Toyota dealer(something like $120), and I thought it was the biggest waste of money ever. I got my car back, and it ran/functioned the exact same way. No improvements anywhere. My car was dealer maintained for almost all of its life, so maybe that had something to do with it. RW and Silver-I know how you guys keep on top of things, so I wouldn't be suprised if yall got the same lack of results I did. Also, there are several componets to the EGR system. I seriously doubt that the dealer checked every one of them as there are several and are not that easy to check-not doable in the 1 hour diag. they typically give. I had a cel that was giving "excessive egr flow" after changing about 5 parts of the EGR system, I finally found the defective componet(Vacuum Switching Valve- VSV).
  20. Give me about 5 minutes(the network's running a little slow)...then check your mail!! ;)
  21. Mine most definantly runs! I did a 0-60 test a few weeks ago, and I got a 7.8 figure, and she reached 95mph in 14.9. I think that is damn good for a '95 LS with 242,1xx miles on the odo. I think that if I would take all of the crap out of my car, I could knock a few tenths off of that 7.8. I can email you the mpeg if you like-it's very cool with the tires sqealing and the V8 screaming all the way up to 6100rpms! B)
  22. K9Crew fixed this problem on his SC400 with some 2" hose clamps. Here's the link with pictures: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...owtopic=312&hl=
  23. If the ES's 6 is shoehorned, then, the LS's 8 must be driven in with a sledge! All joking aside, working on a LS is a !Removed!-save a few things like tranny fluid and brakes. I think the V8 is more crammed; if you want to get to anything on the front of the engine, don't make any plans. It does have decent room on the sides of the engine, but that's pretty much good for nothing.
  24. ← After doing pretty extensive work(tb, water pump, pullies, and tensioner) on a 1UZFE V8 in a '95 LS400, I don't see how the V6 could be much worse! lol Something to consider about the new, used tranny/engine is that it will most likely need a timing belt and leak oil from most of everywhere(all older Lexi do it. My ES looks is starting to leak around the valve covers. arrrr Not adding oil yet, but the engine compartment isn't looking so hot.).
