  1. That's what I was thinking too. I'm just worried that the judge won't throw it out since my real tint percentage is also illegal. :whistles:
  2. The maxium legal limit is 40%. The meter read 11%, but they are really tinted to 20%.
  3. Last night, the Louisiana State Police setup a road block checking for drunk drivers. Luckily, I was the designated driver, so I didn't drink a single thing. They didn't even bother giving me a field sobriety because I was clearly sober, but they did find 2 other things that warranted concern. First, I had 2 girls in my front passenger seat(who knew one could fit 8 people in a LS400! lmao) who weren't seat belted. I was able to talk the trooper out of that part of the ticket since I explained that I was the only one capable of driving. He couldn't argue so he threw the seatbelt offense out. Wheww.... Then, he slipped his little tint meter on my driver's window ::teeth cringed:: since I know my tint is illegal. The meter showed 11% as you can see in the picture below-I saw the meter with my own eyes, so it wasn't a typographical mistake. I fully understand that my tint is illegal, and if I were ticketed for 20% tint, I'd say tell me the who and how much for the ticket, but I do not have 11% tint. I was told that it doesn't even exist. My windows are tinted to 20%...that's what I paid my friend to do, and that's what it is. The strangest thing about all of this was the State Trooper was one of the nicest guys I've ever come across, and by far, the nicest and most respectful policeman I've dealt with. I guess some cops choose not to be rude like the bulk of them out there. Here's the question: Would it be possible to get this ticket thrown out since the reading is not true, although my real tint darkness is illegal? I know I can have my windows remetered and get an accurate reading. I have a flawless driving record if that makes any difference(I did have one for an inspection sticker, but a friend in the pd made that one disappear for me. Too bad I couldn't have been ticketed in that parish so that he could 'fix' this ticket for me.)-no speeding, parking, wreckless driving, etc. I've gotten one most likely from a friend in a pm. I'm looking for some more opinions....
  4. LOL! Too funny! There aren't many bayous here in the northern part of the state-a lot of nothing really(Ruston only has 1 zip code! Blink your eyes, and you might pass right through! lmao), but New Orleans is a different story-the entire city pretty much is a swamp! The roads are the worst because of that; we are about 10 feet below sea level. :o Yep, 4 hours or so. A lot depends on the traffic in DFW. I'll definantly come back when you have the new steering rack put in!
  5. Great pics...especially the interior and engine!! B)
  6. I don't doub that! I wonder what she does through the slalom?? I was just being facetious. ;) I wish they'd share more info on the car, but I can understand why they don't. :whistles:
  7. Hehe How's the SS better than this(excuse the missing strut tower brace)?? j/k B) ....
  8. My car was doing the samething. The TSB saved the day though. It's really simple and quick to repair.
  9. If I had $25k to spend on a sports car, I'd look no further than a Ford's SVT Cobra with the supercharged 4.6=390 horses. B) It's a Ford, so the depreciation should be feirce which would allow you to get into a late model for the $$ you are looking to spend. The Z3 is also a very nice looking little car... All that aside, a GS400/30 sounds like the answer to your question. It's got the V8 you know and love with a slightly tighter but still very comfortable ride compared to that of the LS.
  10. Hey '90, I was at 240k in November! hehe I'm knocking at 250k's door! I'm at 247.6k miles as of tonight. B) Josh (ArmyOfOne) is right! Even with miles, the LS is still an excellent choice. My car is rattle free about 97% of the time, and on a bad day, I get 20mpg(due in part to slow acceleration). I averaged 27.5 going to JPI and Josh's home in DFW last week. :) Q1: If the car drives and inspects well, which it sounds like it does, then, the sky is the limit on LS mileage! Truely! My car has almost 250k miles, but it still performs, drives, and looks like a car with 50k miles. I've said this time and time again...a long, comprehensive test drive is much more indicative of the car's condition than dealer service stamps. My car has 250k miles, and it's still a first rate car, but it hasn't a one to its name!! Q2: I dunno about the 90-94, but the 95 has an automatic tensoioner, so it's easy to change the drive belt. My father and I changed the timing belt on my LS when the belt had about 125k miles on it(I think it was 235k). The belt still looked new even with that mileae. After doing this belt change once, I never want to do it again--why a real PITA. ::cough, cough:: JPI @ 350,000 miles:: lol Q3: I wouldn't avoid the car just because it has air ride. If the car sits level(no corner(s) sags/leans) at 240k, chances are they were already changed somewhere in the 120k-150k mileage range. When they do expire, look to part with about $3k for OEM parts. You can convert the struts if you desire when the air ride starts to die out. Best of luck and keep us posted
  11. You're right they are huge, but I'm sure they're runflats with sidewalls harder than anything on the consumer market. I was thinking more of how does it handle. They design it to take a small nuclear attack, but what would happen if someone tries to pull an attack in a car? Would the DTS be able to run away? I found a write-up on the previous limo; the writer said it's rummored that the engine is based on a GM 502cid marine V8! Just a hypothetical question.... That's very interesting!!...where did you hear that? I think the rear looks really nice, but I think it'd look even better without that chrome strip at the bottom. The roof they have on the limo is something else...I bet the headroom is great! lol The only leader that drives a real car for a president is the leader of Brazil with the Rolls. B) I didn't even know they still made Peugeots!
  12. I like the big grill actually! lol They watered down the CTS theme quite nicely, and I just saw the rear, and it is very simple but nice looking. But, who knows how it'll look in person. When's it supposed to get to dealers? I think I saw a few of the out going limos driving in the parade too. lol Fleetwood...ewwww. Now that I think about it, the only Caddy limo types I've seen lately are stretched, 6 door cars. They showed a small collection of new Town Cars in the parade that looked great with their big chrome grills sparkling. B) GWB's car should wear Lincoln clothes instead of Caddy! lol :D I wonder if it rides poorly? I'm curious if they have the suspension tuned like a M3(with engine output to match) in case it has to do some quick maneuvering--rough ride.
  13. I just saw GWB's '06 Caddy on Fox News. They have only showed the front so far, but I think it looks great!! I'm staying tuned for a glimps of the rear profile!
  14. Yeah, me too! lol The black and red just looks great! B) Apple gives decent education discounts, so if you know someone that is a student, they can get you prices like $230 for the mini and $270 for a 20gb iPod. That's about 10% off...not much, but it's better than nothing. ;)
  15. I have one of the ancient iPods. The first 5gb(which I haven't come close to filling in 3 years! lol I can't imagine the 40 gig model!) firewire model from I think '02; that's when they were mac only. IMO, it is by far the best mp3 player out there. I have dropped and beat the hell out of this thing, but it just keeps going; they are very stylish and well built. I've been eyeing that SE U2 black chrome(or whatever the hell they make these things out of) model. That is amazing..... I have the Griffin iTrip fm transmitter, and it sucks despite the rave reviews I read online. I got it for approx. $40 at CompUSA; big mistake. Although it is obsolete and ugly, I find the tape adapter to work the best and give the best sound quality.
  16. I've put Lexol on my dash, and the dash loved it. I was stunned at how fast it drank it up!!....probably just because it was sooo hot. I nearly scolded my hands doing it though-120 deg dashes are very, very hot. lol I think it has softened up my dash a little since I've put it on. I noticed it was looking a little dry, so I put a little Lexol on there, and it seems to be better. I think Lexol is great. The matte finish it gives is one of its best qualities, and I like the smell too. I find shiny seats(or any interior piece for that matter) look kind of cheesey. I've found many great tips on LOC on how to better apply it-massage just a tiny bit in at a time with your hands, and the results have been great.
  17. as blake mentioned, your ball joints are shot. ← Mine are on there way out. If I turn the radio off and hit a big pot hole, I can hear a very, very remote tap, but it is nowhere near what the strut rods were doing-I'd say like 5% of the volume the s rods were making though.....it's a tap rather than a BANG.
  18. I as well as a few others have used Mikado and were very pleased. Here is there #: 1-888-9-MIKADO. Ask for Sammy. The service itself is $150 plus whatever shipping method you choose. I went with overnight so that I was ot of comission for a total of 3 days; the job itself takes them all of an hour. They even replaced all of the backlighting while they were in there. Pulling the radio out is very simple and quick to do. The Post Office has cery reasonable overnighting rates btw-I think I paid $30 or $35 each way. ;)
  19. You are right; I wasn't thinking properly. :chairshot:
  20. I had them changed, but Jason did it for me. If you can wiggle the tire, your ball joints are probably going.
  21. Welcome! :D Your car looks great! B) You live in DFW, so I highly recommend JP Importz in Garland. He is very, very reasonable, but his work is first rate. I'm sure he can take care of you for well under what you are expecting to spend. His website has a list of what is completed at each mileage interval. www.jpimportz.org
  22. Can anyone tell me what that code means?? I put my magazine in, it unloads all of the discs, and then the error comes up and nothing happens. I have to turn the car off in order to get the magazine out. 1995 LS400 with standard, "premium sound" Pioneer stereo.
  23. I guess they have fewer options for Louisiana cars(I've only seen a handful of cars with nav around here). The highest model I could build was $36.9k. It didn't say anything about ML(it did have 17's, navi, wood wheel/knob, rear sun shade, heated/vented seats, 6 disc changer, etc.), I don't know where the extra $2k comes in for the northern cars. Edmunds shows almost a $5k difference between invoice and msrp. Then, we'd be looking at a deal something like $33k +/- which is only $5k more than the '03 he saw. Maybe ripoff is a bad choice of words. I just couldn't justify $28k for a car that is already 2 years old when a new one can be had for about $5k more. Demo-type cars have never appealed to me. <_<
  24. Maybe not, but there's not a chance that I'd pay $28k for an '03 even if it had 10k miles and navi/ml when the base invoice price for an '05 is also $28k(add a few $k's if you'd go for navi/ml). Dealers are hurting in Janurary, so I'm sure they could come somewhere close to invoice. I'd live in the dark and eat Ramon noodles a few months more and drive one off the lot.
  25. I have a low idle if my a/c is off, but I can make my low idle happen on demand. I've never had a problem after long hwy runs.... '95 LS400, 247.3k miles
