  1. heheh so, is there a way of disabling this thing? or is it so integral to the "experience" that if you disconnect it the car will vanish...pooof!...leaving only a wisp of smoke behind? Having been involved with two message boards on the 2nd gen IS for almost two years now, I don't think I've ever seen the question, and for sure have not seen any info on disabling said black box. I expect it would be tricky as it's probably tied in with all the ECU's involved with the functional systems on the car. A quick google search didn't come up with any info either. Sorry.
  2. The front brakes make a clicking noise which is normal. Check and lube your front sway bar bushings. That may be the noise you are hearing.
  3. There's plenty more info on the www. I doubt we'd really want to be aiding and abetting a highway desperado.
  4. We're in your car watching you drive. -- M Chertoff, DHS :D :D http://www.ncsl.org/programs/lis/privacy/blackbox06.htm
  5. Take a flashlight and look around in there. You'll find a light with a switch. Slide the switch to on. And yes, the light will go out when you close the trunk lid.
  6. Well i want to be able to hear some noise, but not to the point where they become annoying, here i was looking at the HKS exhaust, check out the link and let me know what you think. http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=2348 Thanks. That's the one the Lexus dealers sell, I believe. Ltuned gives a better price. It has a nice, but not real loud sound. There may be some sound clips on Youtube.
  7. What do you want the system to do? There are some that are really loud, some that convert to true dual exhaust and some that are kinda mellow.
  8. Get a Honda Accord.
  9. The invoice price should only be the stated invoice cost plus transportation fee. Anything else the dealer tries to add in is B/S. Adding in stuff like that and document fees, etc. is like trying to add in the dealer's utility bills, trash collection, etc. His operating costs should already be built into his price.
  10. At that price, go ahead and buy it. They plan pretty well and it's unlikely they'll have much in the way of left over models.
  11. That's about right. People are getting 20 to 25,000 miles from the OE tires. Same for the brake pads. The numbers quoted by Lexus are pretty much worst case (besides track racing) nubers.
  12. I don't think anyone makes one. You already have a cool air snorkle that gets air from right above the grill. Aftermarket intakes don't really do that much for these cars anyway.
  13. If the car downshifts, then you haven't selected the proper gear in the first place. If you're shifting for performance, then you should have already downshifted.
  14. You can search on Google. Several companies make those lights for different cars. Don't know if they make it for yours but it should show up.
  15. Did you bleed the air out of the brake lines?

  17. Can't say 100% but I think it's the same as the GS350 brake pads.
  18. There's a small trunk lockout switch just inside the glovebox on the left side near the lip. That's the valet switch that's used to keep people from opening the trunk when they are parking your car. That switch may have inadvertently been pushed. I think that's in the owners manual.
  19. Are the shocks/struts bad?
  20. Under the glovebox door are two plastic push pins near the middle(the hinges) open the box and pull these pins out and then you can pull the whole glovebox out. Probably want to empty it first to make it easier.
  21. I's suggest thinking twice and being real careful about cutting/splicing/changing wires in that system based on some ebay yahoo's instructions. It could up costing much more than the possible benefit. I guess that's why everybody want's someone else to try it first. Just a word for the wise.
  22. TPMS is standard equipment on the US spec IS models. The biggest problem comes in with many aftermarket rims, where the OEM sensors just won't fit.
  23. By the time you do all that the car should already be warmed up or cooled down as the case may be. :chairshot:
  24. Pull out the golve box and cabin filter and see if the noise is coming from the blower motor under there.
  25. search for TPMS http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ighlite=%2Btpms
