That would seem kinda low. With my 2002 I got 18 - 20 MPG in mixed local driving and on a trip of all interstate I got 25 MPG.

Are you talking about the orange ring that lights up on the tach? If so, all it does is light up. It can be used as a shift light if you set it at the RPM you wish to shift at, then shift when it lights up. If you want to limit the highest gear, put the shift lever in "S", to the left of "D". and then use the paddle shifter to set the top gear. That will show up on the display between the speedo and tach.

Sometimes dealers will look for a car to your specs that's already in the district and get it for you. When you order a car though Lexus, they just don't build the car for you. They get dibs on a car like you want, and then when it's there, it's there. If you're thinking of avoiding tax by getting a car from out of state, that won't work because you'll have to pay the tax when you register the car in your home state. Whichever is your state of residence, that's where you pay the taxes. I don't make laws, that's just the way it is. Don't believe me, ask the DMV.

Did you read the one where the guy took his laptop to the dealership and sat there and calcuated the best possible lease deal, and they gave it to him?

Don't know of anyone that's done it yet, but I'm sure someone will. People came up with ways to bypass on the GS pretty quickly.

Not sure which light, but if it's the rpm light, you can set it where you want. If you hit the rev limiter the engine will die and just continue to rev and die as it keeps hitting the limiter. That is if you hold the throttle to the floor long enough. First time you hit the rev limiter, you should know it's past time to shift. I believer you can kick in the limiter the same way by just holding down the gas pedal in neutral. The engine will just cycle on and off as the limiter kicks in and out. I keep my rpm light set at 6000 RPM and I see it blink for an instant just before WOT shifts in automatic mode. It's kinda neat that way.

Went thought the car wash today and took a ride to dry the car off. Made a u turn slightly out of town an hit the gas. Was doing 110 and still in third gear when I backed off. It will hit 100 so effortlessly one hardly notices.

When the 250 comes in, test drive it and then drive the 350 again, back to back. That should help you decide.

At 2000 miles I'm getting 24 MPG average town and highway. On a trip I got over 27 MPG actual with all interstate at 70 - 75 MPH. The worst tank I've gotten was 22, mostly around town.

The automatic trans is strong enough if you add a valve body upgrade. Most of the major tuners have those.

Those old Saab 2 strokes were really great cars.

There's people in Hong Kong who sell JDM stuff at good prices.

The only standout problem was a slow, sluggish shifting issue, which was fixed on a TSB with a ECU reflash. If the car has had the reflash, there should be a sticker to that effect under the hood. Mine was an early 2002 and it had the reflash. Later on they incorporated the program into production. If you want manual transmission, you have to go to 2002 and later models. There was none in 2001. The only other thing I can think of was the CD changer jamming. I don't think it happened a lot but some did.

I'm not and expert, but I thought the major concern was running lean. Would you need O2 sims with the headers to fool the ECU so you won't get CEL? The guys on the following forums are IS guys, but they know nitrous, headers, and boost issues.
