  1. 14 flat? And is 13.8 the lowest? What about taking out all the mats and extra tire? Yeah the guy did take out the stuff from the trunk. Actually 14 seems to be a respectable time. I've seen the time slips and that's what people are getting.
  2. The "chip" is a resistor that fools the ECU into thinking the intake air is cool, and maybe you get some better performance. Personally I wouldn't put one on and if I did I'd just buy the resistor somewhere for a couple of bucks. Clear bras are nice. Don't know the quality of the one on Ebay, but for sure they aren't something for do it yourself. Best left to a professional installer and a name brand product.
  3. People are hitting 13.8 to 14 in stock 350's
  4. If the guy is experienced and good and you can get the diagrams etc, he should be able to do it. Maybe LMW gives instructions with their unit. If I wanted to do the alarm thing I'd call LMW and talk to them. I hear they are quite accomdating.
  5. Good grief. That's the third story I've heard about them rotating the tires on 2nd gen IS. They have to have had some experience and training on that by now. Even a moron ought to notice the difference in size of those tires. :chairshot: I'm probably the lucky one. I called up to see about 5000 mile service and told the guy that I had already changed the oil. He said that's all they would do anyway so I was good to go. Maybe I'll take it in at 12 months and maybe I won't.
  6. I had it happen making a right turn where the street had been repaved but there was still a low spot right by the curb of the intersection. The right rear wheel dropped in that low spot just as I was pushing on the gas, trac kicked in and I had no power for an instant and the warning light came on. Just as quickly it was back to normal.
  7. Dont try this at home kiddies. :chairshot: Seriously, if you want to test the limits, do it somewhere like in an empty parking lot or something. When I first tried the VDIM disable I went to a little used shopping center, checked the lot for any hidden obstacles and then did some donuts, just to get a feel for how the car would handle. Hapless kids that have goosed their IS300s too hard on wet on ramps have ended up crashing into guard rails and stuff and messing up their nice cars. Then they make posts wondering why they couldn't take the on ramp at the same speed they did when it was dry. Others have hit a patch of oil or a little gravel that wasn't there before and ended up in the weeds or worse. IOW, don't try any of this stuff on a public road.
  8. Oh ok, I thought it was something being disabled and trying to restore itself...But that makes sense...Thanks!!!! It shouldnt be engaging if you arent driving on the "edge" or on the verge of a skid or something though. It can happen sometimes going over a sharp bump or if one wheel drops in a pothole and the system senses a momentary loss of traction. I havent had mine come on, but I know other drivers who have. Maybe I havent pushed it hard enough. :D
  9. That's about all the IS alarm does. There is no motion sensor or glass break detection. You'd have to go aftermarket to get that.
  10. I think that's the VDIM kicking in one or more of the stability control items.
  11. I guess you'd have to suit yourself on that one.
  12. There is no switch. Most people that want to turn it off, aren't complaining any more. A switch would be nice, but we live with what we've got.
  13. How is the price of diesel fuel compared to gasoline in Germany? Diesel is costing more than gas now in the US. It used to be cheaper.
  14. VDIM = Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management. The system integrates Skid Control, Antilock Braking, Stability Control and Steering to anticipate a skid and coordinate the systems to take action to avoid said skid. Heres a little demo of what it does. http://www.lexus.com/models/is/demo_popups/vdimDemo.html
  15. About all there is available now are three brands of intakes and maybe two exhaust systems. One might get 15-20 HP gain with the right combination. I'd suggest to wait awhile as more companies will be coming out with bolt on mods during the year.
  16. Go here and search as wide an area (distance) as you are willing to go to buy a car. http://www.autotrader.com/
  17. You're talking about a sticker? How big? If you put it on the glass, then it can be pretty easily removed with a razor blade scraper. If you put it on the paint, it's going to be much more difficult and IMHO would look tacky anyway. How about a magnetic sticker that you can put on, remove, and put back on at will? This type uses double sided tape. They're pretty easy to remove by using a fishing line and some Goo Gone.
  18. Should be in the list here. Or go to www.lexus.com and sign up for the owner info stuff. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=25999
  19. Same thing with the person from whom I got the info. :)
  20. There is at least one peg on each of those emblems. Someone on another forum tried this and found out the hard way. I think you can see these if you remove the trunk lid liner.
  21. Here are links to three installs. Hopefully you can glean enough info from these to help. http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=27248...ght=HID+install http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=192254 http://my.is/forums/showthread.php?t=272488
  22. So in order for it to work in the IS you would need XM, correct? I really don't know what Lexus is putting in the IS. So far I don't know of anyone that's got a factory installation.
  23. I've read that too, but I've never found the triangle either.
  24. It's about dusting off an otherwise clean car, not detailing the finish.
  25. I believe you need to turn the dashlight brighness knob all the way clockwise until it passes the detent. Then the auto day/night mode should work.
