  1. Any followup from OP (IS250Benicia)? Just wondering if the new engine and car are running well since repair by Lexus....
  2. You can try to get lower price, probably additional discount to be gained. Cross-check the pricing on sources such as AutoTrader before.
  3. Fortunately the important design center is still in Southern California/Newport Beach. I read Toyota is saying the US headquarters move puts it closer to the factories.
  4. What changes were made to the later versions of 2.5L V6 engine to minimize the carbon build up problem?
  5. I think you got a really nice Lexus. Congrats and enjoy. I also have one of the quicker 3.5L Lexus models available given the lowish curb weight combined with 306hp, and I do like the available power. (Ooops, I'm not supposed to be in this section)...
  6. Looks like spindle grill is on entire product line now. And US sales keep increasing.
  7. And I say without any hesitation, this production NX looks way better than current RX, about time for Lexus to make a nice-looking somewhat aggressive crossover SUV. I happen to like the concept of attractive and sleek compact crossover/SUV's and even own one. No need to put up with frumpy X1, CRVs, Tuscons, GLK's, Tiguans. Go Lexus, this NX will be a hit.
  8. What happened in the case of 70+ mph flat? Yes, I too lived through that experience thankfully back in the day before VSC, ABS, EBD, etc.
  9. Keep those reports coming on Max detector, around here everybody drives 10 over, but laser is feared still...
  10. Those grainy pictures (of F-Sport version I think) help exaggerate the snout for sure. To me looks like this compact SUV will be strong seller. It's better looking and better proportioned than RX. The new IS has similar snout and is outselling tamer previous gen IS.
  11. Production version looks very good..
  12. Sounds like a reasonable deal to me at $20K, especially since you know the history of car and potential for problems.
  13. Good observation, and might be an example of why IIHS places high importance on new small offset crash test, of which some of the very latest cars perform well in. Most recent model years (pre2012) cars including premium brands Lexus, Mercedes, Audi and BMW did not do well in that new test, not to mention poor results of most of the common car brands. Can see latest test results on IIHS website. Regardless most of us here are driving cars that are much safer than the cars common 10-20 years ago
  14. Wow, scary accident. But when a full sized body-on-frame pickup collides with conventional car the results are usually much worse for car. It's a legit safety concern for all car owners.
  15. That's amazing. Must be very good tires. What tires do you have on your IS350?
  16. imgreg7 - Thanks for recommendation. I have a old Civic GX that has dull headlights.
  17. I'm liking those boots...
  18. Astronauts attended funeral of my uncle (was a test pilot) when I was a kid, even then it seemed like these were a unique breed...
  19. My last American car (truck) was a 2007 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V8 4.6L. It was mediocre in terms of quality. At 50K miles overdrive switch, rear hatch lock, battery, sunvisor/lighted mirrors and radiator had to be replaced and another $1000 in repairs were coming up soon (including spark plugs which have a tendency to freeze in block making, climate control fix). I miss the horsepower, nothing else. In March 2012 replaced it with a 2013 Mazda CX-5 (built at Mazda main factory in Hiroshima, Japan), quality difference is like night and day. At 27K miles only a couple of rattles were fixed under warranty (and documented by TSB's).
  20. Thanks for reporting-in twitte. I have 47K miles on my 2007, nothing to report regarding oil use since none is used between changes. I will have oil change and VVT actuator gear recall done in May.
  21. I've driven a few BMW's, but personally I never owned one. Seems kind of odd on my part, having owned so many brands...
  22. twitte - Is the IS350 still burning oil? No recent developments?
