  1. I paid $680 for same replacement, installed, balanced, etc. QUoted 4 places in Carmel and range was this to aroung $780. Mine were wore more on the on the side, but I did not rotate. Will this time.
  2. Thanks Fish, and everything worked fine after that or are you just putting everything on cassett now? :chairshot:
  3. Depends on how long you intend to keep it. I love these cars and intend to keep mine forever as they do not seem to age. Ride, paint, interior, all stay new looking. I paid cash and hope I have it 200k miles later! Depends if you are this type of person or if you like getting a new one on a regular basis. Financially I'm in line with erupert! Don't waste your short term (3-5yr) money on a lease unless your company is paying.
  4. The gauge is oil pressure and oil pressure changes depending on the RPM's. Check oil level with your dipstick. The behavior seems normal, you might ask Lexus to confirm.
  5. I'm pretty sure it has never been done, you can set history!
  6. just cleared corners and cleaned headlights last night on my es300 and was suprised by the diffence in the brightness of light, much brighter and improves appearance of the car. once you do it once it is very easy and could do it much quicker. i agree hardest part is closing the light back up and making sure glue is evenly distributed thoughout the assembly. much easier also if you have someone helping you do it. i recommend this if your headlights do have a nasty fog on them and if you want to clear your corners. :D
  7. i have a 95 ES300 and i have a very similar problem. The front passenger window switch on the master control for the power windows broke and is very loose. The switch can make the window go down, but you can't roll it up from that switch. the switch on the front passenger door works fine and thats how i roll up the window (i have to reach across and roll it up). Lexus wants around $350-$400 to change the entire switch assembly. We (my dad and i) think it will be fine if we could just change the plastic button. Does anyone know how to do that or has anyone done it before or should i replace the entire switch assembly in the master control? :(
  8. kyle did you just follow all the steps that bdonkers guy gave you? how do you initially get the headlights to come out, do you have to rip that rubber protecter thing out and then what?i may not be able to respond unless i can get internet access at ma grandmas until sunday. btw the car looks great
  9. very nice, i love what you've done with your car, i recommend at least 20% tint for the windows because its pretty dark and you can still see through the windows :D
  10. DO you need a new gasket for the intake manifold? Lexus dealer told us we had a leaking valve cover gasket and quoted around $500. Was thinking this might be an easy job but it's sounding more difficult. Thanks
  11. Sounds nice, what brand/model and how do you handle the extension cord and plugging it in? Thanks
  12. I have 75k on a 2000 LX470 and it does have the tick tick sound on cold start. GOes away in minute or two. Will bring to attention of dealer next time there.
  13. THere is a rule of thumb that every time a lead acid battery goes dead it loses 30-50% of its power. You can tell that because once a battery goes dead it never has the juice it once had. Killing a new battery has to be something loading the battery. If you have an amp meter disconnect one terminal and measure the current draw with the motor off and everything else off. To kill a new battery in a day has to be 3-10 amps pull.
  14. I had mine done in Carmel Indiana last summer for around $850.
  15. Still haven't found mine. Radio has to be off and silence in the car to hear it. It definitely has a motor/gear sound and only lasts a few seconds. Repeats, but haven't figured out any pattern or relation to anything else. Does it sitting still, moving, in gear out of gear, etc. Life isn't too bad when this is one of your worries!
  16. Bought my 16 year old son a 95 with 118k and he needs to make it last through HS and college which it should easily do if he allows it to. ;) If not shoe leather is certainly cheaper. :whistles:
  17. I would go with features, paint chips and cosmetics, and maintence done records. I have 72k on a 2000 model. These vehicles do not seem to age. Still feels the same as when it was new. Just a few chips of paint and minor cosmetic things.
  18. Hope your results so far don't indicate the future. Good luck and keep us informed, I think you will be back quickly!
  19. what brand??? ← Same as on it, LTX. Price is installed, balanced, lifetime rotation, and replacement road hazard. One shop did off a Bridgestone equivalent for 608, same terms. I checked about 6 places and they ranged from $680-$710. Still no more problems on the VSC light
  20. Not surprising the ride is much better, better handling and no warning lights. I haven't checked the pressure in 2 years, but the tires were rotated about a year ago, would hope they checked pressure, but don't know for sure. Will keep close watch, need new tires soon anyway, found 4 replacements for $680 for everything.
  21. 11/13 update: LF at 20PSI and RF at 17 PSI, both rear at 35PSI. I think this may be the problem, will report later.
  22. I just started having the same problem about 2 months ago and had seached trying to find something on this. Year 2000 with 72k miles. As I'm driving and only during a turn the VSC will come on until I straighten out or slow way down. First time it just came on no problem only warning, second time was at 5AM on the way to the airport and it braked with right side while turning left and pulled me into the other lane. THat could have been very bad as I was traveling ~70MPH. Planning on calling dealer for check out but will check air pressure first.
  23. My 2000 with 72k miles also has a tick-tick-tick when you start up. Did not think about the cracked manifold, will ask Lexus to look when I take it back. Normally quits within 1-2 minutes.
