  1. howdy yall, wierd, sometimes (not too often) the fuel gauge will act up.....it will read totally empty (light on) when i know it has gas (if not full) in it......then slowly it will come up......or sometimes it will read partially. anyone have same/similar issue? any ideas? regards, terry
  2. hello all, i had an issue with the check engine light coming on at startup.....however it only came on when outside temps get to the 10degree (or below) mark. when the light comes on, many times the car will not start or if it does it dies or not accelorate....sometimes or it will accelorate, then it will not.....revs do not come up, it stays at idol speed or dies, however sometimes it will run fine (with light on) just far enough to get into traffic then it will not rev/move or dies....if i turn it off sometimes it will not start again for a short spell....very strange...almost like the throttle is frozen? cold weather !Removed! with the efi computer? after it warms up it seems to work ok.......well as it turns out there were two error codes being tossed.....both pointing to the same thing "Accelorator Position Sensor" $350 for the part, $100 labor. gotta luv lexus. regards, terry
  3. not sure what brand it is....not very complicated part.....had my mech order one. ext cord? plug into wall and plug into car? regards, terry
  4. i just went thru this..... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...threadid=139357 its more than $15 in parts....you need new gaskets for the intake manifold removale as the starter is under there......personally i would not recommend doing this oneself unless one has the mechanical experience, time and a second car....another member did this R/R himself and wished he'd spent the $400-500 to have it performed professionally. anyway if you need a starter to r/r i have on that is in great shape....just needs contacts! regards, terry
  5. had a block heater installed the other day....works well.....easier on the car at startup and takes only a fraction of the time to get the interior heat working! $130 installed. regards, terry
  6. i have a 50+ heard of elk across the street......hopefully i will get the bull bar installed before i hit some. regards, terry
  7. well if you are getting the same action as i was having (sounds like you are) then prepare to spend $450 for the new sensor and install (sensor was $350, not $250) car works great now.....no cold start check engine light, stalling or not starting. regards, terry
  8. i finally got a chance to have the code read when it fired off. turns out there were two (2) error codes, both which pointed to the same problem/issue.......the Accelerator Position Switch $248. regards, terry
  9. thanks for the info/reply less, much appreciated! i will look into the Viper unit, sounds good. regards, terry ps - is anyone else having email notification problems? im not being notified when someone responds to a thread (yes i have that option checked in my user CP).
  10. if you are worried about your PimpnHoe 45" Gold Plated, Homey Eched Wheels i have found that these work well.... http://www.brandsport.com/golugnuwhlof4.html regards, terry
  11. excellent suggestion! however the light/code goes out by the time i get to where it can be read, which is a bummer. regards, terry
  12. yes you can return to (dyno) organic oil after synth the main use/purpose in using synth oil is that it is much more resistant to thermal breakdown that organic oil. synth oil holds up much better to higher temps than dyno oil....such as race, turbo and heavy load applications.....esp in turbocharged apps....if you dont fall into these catagories then you should be fine with dyno oil and do not require synth oil. regards, terry
  13. i recently towed my sports car (3500lb) on a Uhaul autotransport (2000lbs) from SoCal to Idaho with my 99' 470 which was easily loaded with over 1000lbs of gear/boxes and the car performed flawlessly. crested several major hills/passes with the AC on in warm/hot weather......no problems at all......even got decent milage! currently i tow my Aprilia Caponord (~456lbs) on a two bike trailer (~1500lbs) and you cant even feel the extra load. the 470 is an awesome tow vehicle. regards, terry
  14. looks great! im too do not like the chrome bit on the top tube....but to each his/her own. im will be going with the ARB Delux Wench Bull Bar as it will protect the front end better when i mow down one of the elk in the area..... regards, terry
  15. dakrri, i too have recently gotten stuck (high centered) in a snow bank. not much you can do here other than get out the shovel and start digging all the cold, wet, hard snow out from under the frame and suspension bits....in short keep it on the road! regards, terry
