Sorry my friend, Do you have any other codes? If the engine is running rough that would prevent the fourth gear shift (knocks sensors, etc) But otherwise there is probably some debris in the valve body assembly that is preventing the shift. That means rebuild time. Dont bother wasting money on a flush, it will make it worse. When you dropped the pan was there metal debris? Almost everyone with your symptons ended up with a new tranny. The dealers will rip you to a tune of $4k to $5 . An independent will charge around $3000. If you know of a good independent transmission shop that has good references, I suggest you have them look at it. There are two speed sensors on top of the tranny that you could try switching and see if your symptons change, but that is probably a last hope...Keep us filled in. Also do a search on this forum for RX300 transmission problems and you will see a lot of discussion.

blk_on_blk you are absolutely correct. Have been doing brakes for 40 years. You can use the existing rotor if you dont have any warpage (you can feel it when you brake, it is a pulsating feeling) Clean the rotors up install new pads and you are good to go. The new pads will seat, even if there is minor grooving in the disk....good luck

The wagner thermo quiets are great pads, Have them on my Ford F150. However the Akebono Ceramics and Brembo disk have gone 80k so far and I still have about 1/4 inch of pad left. I am very happy with this life span. I have never had any car go this long on a set of pads.

Wasnt aware of any seal problems, mine has 161k miles and is tight (RX300)

I wash mine. Take them out clean with a vacuum and then wash with simple green. Rinse, let dry. Mine is 10years old on my RX and is still functioning.

I used Brembo disks and Akebono pads. I have over 75k miles on that setup. Seems to be as good as the original Lexus pads which went an easy 80k miles.

by the way Carlos from Lexus of America called today, confirmed that the tranny changes are proprioritory info....So customers, suck an egg as to which year RX300 to buy for reliability. At this point, I would only recommend a 2003....Just my two cents worth. I tried calmly in a customer comes first mode to get any kind of info as to when the planetary gears as well as any other changes took place....The answer was "not" going to happen....Good evening everyone..

There is a method to do a fluid change while using the transmission pump. I would use that procedure. As for the engine, just use good quality synthetic oil....I am at 161k miles and mine is doing well. Back to the transmission we generally go with a 15k miles drain and fill procedure, However if you use AMSOIL tranny fluid you could go 50k miles. Try to stick to mostly Toyota OEM products in the car ie Belts, Waterpump, Brake pads (or AKEBONO). ENjoy our site it is a wealth of info to save you money and time.

I didnt express my self well, but I was raised with manners (not politically correct) Respect is what I have founded my life on. However if you try to bull$%##$$# on how concerned you are, I call that the Politically correct meaning. Tell the truth, whether it be acceptable or not if what I believe. Too many today dont want to hear the truth. Respect is something you earn through your actions, not some idiot trying to show he is politically correct and than the next moment doing the oposite. We are too concerned about hurting someone's feeling, when the truth needs to be told. Hence the dumbing down of our society.

First I would have not done the flush, maybe a exchange where the tranny pump does the fluid change. I hate to tell you, but the valve body assembly could be contaminated. Was there any metal debris in the pan when the fluid and filter was changed? I suppose a shift solenoid could be going bad. These usually control the valve body pistons plungers...If there is debris blocking or gouging the piston it may not move.

Good question, however in the other vehicles there is a big difference in weight of the vehicle...compared to a RX300
