  1. Make sure you have good electrical contact between the plug and coil...I add dielectric grease around the cap to keep moisture out. Corrosion is death to electronics...If it starts to build up resistance the coil has to work harder and may fail...Good luck,
  2. Thankyou, I am here to serve.....
  3. As RX in NC said you need to have the pan dropped and investigate for metal shavings ect. Also change or clean the transmission filter if it is the mesh style. There are things like the speed sensors which could be pulled and cleaned to see if they are a problem....these are the cheap and free tasks. this is one of the best posts for showing the transaxle plug which also should be drained on AWD. Please, do not have the transmission flushed.....Just a drain and fill with dropping the pan to see whats going on inside....A flush will certainly cause its death....especially if there are metal filings as they will fly through the valve body assembly and mess the pistons valves up.... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-g...ter-change.html
  4. funney they said would be opportune time to replace gears as the intake manifold would have to be removed....lots more labor....I dont think I would trust those folks....
  5. Same belts as the 2001-2003 highlander....My neighbor just borrowed mine and they fit fine. He has the 2003 highlander..
  6. by the way there arent any seals to the external part of the gear, they are used only inside to control oil flow..and movement of the gear in relation to the cam. Here is what it looks inside. this is one from the 3.0 engine (2003 highlander)
  7. Yes, but the mesh type is gone, at least here on the west coast, I ordered one and it came in as a paper element at the Lexus dealership. Just a note, the filter I installed (external) is huge, the size of a PH8 oil filter. Probably very little constriction and I have been running it for over 60k miles now...I change it when I do a fluid change and Hopefully it is doing some good.
  8. THe transmission are all rebuilt, they may call them remanufactured, rebuilt, new, etc. but they are rebuilt....when repaired. The dealerships wont do it, they ship them in and only do the replacement....
  9. Should be the same, except one you would have to mix your own distilled water......
  10. The seat met its lifetime...Oh my God, I hate what these dealerships tell their customers. The heater is around $330 and to get to it takes some time. But I bet an uphoustry shop could do it for you if you supplied the heater. I know 9 years ago when mine failed, Lexus didnt even do it, they sent it to an uphoustry shop....go figure...
  11. I would have them do an oil change, and a drain and fill of the transmission. I would not let them do a flush. The other item sounds like a fuel injection cleaning. Probably not necessary..... Go buy some STP fuel injection cleaner, add it to your tank and be done...
  12. Gasket number is 35168-21010 Here is price from Carson Toyota: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...playCatalogid=0
  13. this is what I installed, google it and find the best price... http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=PRM-10678 The kit is easy to install, I mounted the filter on the left side of the car under the battery area down by the plastic access cover under the car. I did have to make a bracket to mount it. Others on the site have used inline filters, but mine works great. The lines next to the transmission were easy to hook up.....
  14. Go to Walmart or Harbor Freight tools, they both have the readers for a decent price...
  15. Go to Walmart or Harbor Freight Tools. they sell them cheap.....
  16. Should be oil change, and check the rest of the stuff. Do you know whether the timing belt was done at around 90k miles.?
  17. Yep, dump those bosch plugs, I have had terrible luck with them on multiple vehicles (honda, mercedes, ford) Go back to Denso or NGK and you will be happy.....Hope the plugs didnt wipe your two coil packs......Please trust me the bosch plugs are garbage....one man's opinion....also the same opionion from the son-in-laws brother who runs a speedylube.....
  18. I dont believe you have an EGR, I have a 99 RX300 and mine doesnt have that. EGR is controlled through VVTI on this engine...
  19. Could be the door lock solenoids are tired...Here is a post from The RX300 but it shows what could be done if you are so inclined.... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...c=41219&hl=
  20. Any of your oils listed will be fine. Use a Toyota filter, if not use Wix (also in Napa Gold). Your filters can be purchased through your local Toyota dealership or online thru many different sites. I tend to stay away from Fram filters, though in my past I used them all the time on other vehicles. Good luck and be assured if you do it yourself, at least you will know it is done right....
  21. It has a belt according to this parts breakdown: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...playCatalogid=0
  22. it may have been the air/fuel sensors causing the engine to not run right and then causing the engine knock sensors to come to surface....Funny everyone says if you are in there to replace sensor (knocks) replace both because the labor of getting in there....
  23. You probably need to have the air/fuel sensor replaced bank 1 sensor 1. Use OE only.......here it is
  24. Unfortunately I have not been able to get any info as to how or when the upgrades were done on these trannys....
  25. The P0325 is a knocks sensor, but what grade Gasoline do you use? The wiriing harness to the knocks sensors also could be deteriated. But I would think they would have noticed that. Maybe the sensor harness plug has some corrosion in it. Unplugging and cleaning with contact cleaner would be good. As for the Air/fuel sensor. they go bad, but as for the computer, I doubt it....
