  1. there are speed sensors on each wheel. Maybe one is going bad....
  2. Info on Club Lexus site.... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-g...ion-w-pics.html Cost is around $1500 to $1600 for the kit from that gentleman...
  3. Definetly do not do a flush....A drain and fill is recommended, and I watch so many folks that have failures after a flush.....Amsoil even supports the drain and fill on old transmissions....
  4. Just wanted to point out that sometimes the crank has a groove worn into it, Dont panic, you could emery cloth it or use a crankshaft saver (a stainless steel cover that slides over the groove and is glued in place) They work great for this repair if you run into a bad groove where the seal contacts the crank
  5. I know on my RX the cigarette lighter is not hot when the ignition is off....so wouldnt work. I agree with the trickle charger, or hooking the leads directly to the battery from the solar charger....
  6. Great speech is one thing, action is another....Now every man, woman, and child in the US is $176000 in debt with the unprecedented spending going on now under this administration.....And If only 50% of all of the population pays taxes that means you are in debt to the tune of $340k per tax payer....Yep great speech for the state of the union under a complete democrat rule. Time for a third party (TEA Party???)
  7. After helping the neighbor tear his engine apart on the highlander (same engine) The valves are definetly close when the cams are turned in certain positions. With the Variable valve gear assembly I would say it is interference.
  8. You have not given us the codes for your light. It could be something completely unrelated. The symptons of oil gel was generally heavy useage of oil between changes.....Go to your local auto parts store and get the codes read..
  9. If that doesnt work, go to your city and get a permit to picket, than make a sign that says talk to me first before you buy. Walk the sidewalk infront of their stealership... I bet they will respond to quiet you down.....Be polite, but tell them your terms for getting you off that sidewalk....
  10. Already covered but here is picture...
  11. This speaks for itself, changed the office forever...
  12. the bulb is a 168 and is a parking lamp. Mine burned out too, but I havent replaced it yet.
  13. I would get some PB Blaster and spray the cable where it goes through the tubes and see if it frees up...YOur location probably is not friendly to cables with the snow and salt on the roads....
  14. you will probably have to dissasimble the intake...I did this on mine when I had a intake coolant leak and had to get to the exact area where the knock sensors are. Suggest replacing the coolant hose under the intake also....
  15. Is your car AWD.? I suspect the center mount bearing supports on the drive shaft on AWD may fail eventually. I have 173k miles and still going. I do have a weird vibration at 50 to 65 but have not been able to localize. Sounds almost like a harmonic vibration. Makes me wonder about bearings at this mileage.
  16. Mine has 173k miles, however at 100k the tranny went south. Since it has been fairly problem free. We plan to run it till it dies.....The armrest are a little worn, but the rest of the car is pristine.
  17. You might just have a bad speed sensor. There are two on the top of the transmission you could try swapping them. By the way the flush was probably a very bad thing to due. many have lost there trannys after a flush...
  18. There is a bypass for the gear shift under the little cover piece. Look in your owners manual and it will show the location. Do the ignition display (speedometer, display) lights come on when you turn the key on?
  19. I dont recommend a flush of the transmission. As for the spark plugs the plenum does not need to be removed....
  20. Oh man funny but cruel....That was not nice, remember even if, and I say that fondly, he is a democrat, that is not how to treat your brother on a Lexus site...Remember we are the true compassionate folks...(Independent)...Spoken from a conservative...Borders, Language, culture...
  21. I would also check your ground wires going from the battery to the body and the engine block. If they are loose or corroaded they could cause that problem.
  22. You can get the parts cheap at many online sites. However if you have someone do it for you it is cheaper getting it done while doing the timing belt than having to go back in there afterwards for a squeel or oil leak. I have no idea how much hey would charge, but the parts are not bad. Places like Partsgeek.com has them reasonable as well as sites that sponser on this site. As for the recommended service if they have not been changed the last ime around, i CAN Tell you that is a good service life for those components at 190k.
  23. Hey Roger, you and I think alike...Hope everything is well with you. I picked up a cheap infared scanner at Harbor Freight Tools and it has been a fun and enlightning tool to solve those mysteries. Also you dont burn yourself anymore by using the finger touch to see if it is hotter.....
  24. ;you could put a fan infront of bumper inlet and see if that cooler does any good. I am talking about a household fan while sitting in the garage to simulate airflow....
  25. 173k miles and still going. Wife says run it till it drops. Almost due for another timing belt, but this time will do idlers and crankshaft seal. I updated the car to blue tooth for the cell which drops the radio and does all the magic stuff. Just wish it had navigation. Leather is worn on the armrest. but the seats look good. The sunvisor has split on one seam, other than that the car looks fantastic.
