  1. If you were create, you could take it out of car and then buy a fiberglass repair kit and do a little work and sanding and probably achieve a fix. Sorry we old navy guys had to learn to fix anything without parts at sea and it has paid me well over the years....I have saved a bundle. total cost would be around $10 for the kit at your favorite wally world....
  2. Here is the timing belt procedure, same engine as your car.....
  3. That is not right, Why isnt Lexus addressing the problem? When we turn ours off, it is off...
  4. That is how it is josh, find the right girl, treat her right, and you will be blessed....Happy 6th. BE SAFE.....Thank you for your service....
  5. Try some graphite powder on the key and insert it in and out...see if it loosens things up....
  6. Front is ugly.....just one man's opinion....
  7. replace the oil control valve. I would also pull the front valve cover and check for sludge....
  8. I would, 90k is the max I would go without the fluid change...just me. I owned an RX300 with failed transmission, preventative at least makes you feel better....
  9. I used a vinyl repair kit designed for cars...The color was perfect, I mixed and matched.... The kit is made by Permatex....I used it previously on my Old RX300 and the repair was fantastic.....
  10. Thank you, yes i viewed your steering wheel tutorial.... If the repair and color are ok, would just spraying the clear coat be OK?
  11. That is what generally happens when manufacturors try to low bid items. Shame because Ford is doing a great job on new ideas and designs...The engineers work hard to produce a marketable product and the bean counters start destroying it. Saw this same thing before I left my company. Saved a few cents and cost us a fortune out in the field.
  12. I would not fill on the ramps, the car has to be level... as for the moisture thing, why would that be a problem when changing it....?
  13. Ok have a 2008 RX400h with what appears to be a black interior...I repaired a couple of holes in the trim piece just below and around the shift console...in the passenger side. However the repair is glossy and I was wondering what dye or top coating would bring everything back to the dull luster. I read that there is a two coat process, first the dye than the final coat. But what exactly is the color of this dash on the RX400h in 2008.? Also I am looking for tips on doing this fix.
  14. If you had all service done by lexus, they act more positive to your situation...They could even eat the tranny and only charge you labor...If all service done elsewhere than you are out of luck.
  15. You know there is probably debris in the buckle...If you could take it out of the car (probably have to unbolt it) then you could try cleaning it in some warm water with dish soap and then dry it. Maybe even a little spray of WD40 and then cleaning the residue with a towel. Doing it in the car is difficult because of its location next to the seats....I know my wife has spilled coffee a couple of times in that area, and that would really gum it up.
  16. +1 Lemon, I remember that posting also, apparently that dealer read the memo...
  17. I would suspect that only the fluid is changed and sometimes the filter. The original filter was a wire mesh which was just cleaned...Your best maintenance would be a drain and fill...Do this every 15k miles. DO NOT do a flush...We on the Lexus sites as well as Toyota sites do not recommend this....especially on a higher mileage transmission....Drain and fill only. As for the solenoids, they have not been a issue...The only downside of this tranny is a weak design and poor planetary gear assembly which was originally made of aluminum....
  18. glad to hear it, good for another two years....
  19. it may be as simple as the contacts that press against the bulb are spread apart and not making good contact. Either that or they are corroaded.
  20. Here is a little tuturol on the starter contacts, http://www.nationsautoelectric.com/instructions.html
  21. Came up with another solution: sold at multiple stores : Lowes etc. Called E-Z Fuse tape and can withstand temps up to 500 degrees....here it is http://www.google.co...ved=0CE8Q8wIwBA# I actually bought some but have not used it yet....I think this would be the best solution.....
  22. The heat shrink can be had at Harbor Freight tools.....but it has to be the wrap kind....not sleeves....
  23. First of all the control arms for just one side are only about $900 from Lexus....That dealership is jacking you bad. I would take car to an independent alignment shop and get a diagnosis...Seems very fishy to me that those arms are bad so prematurely. I would call Lexus directly at corporate and mention your customer loyalty and ask them directly why this part failed so early....
  24. Yup, supply and demand.....Oil companies are *BLEEP*ed at Obama for not letting them have some concessions...He is trying to push his green agenda to make that voting block happy....(Wack jobs, they think we all should ride horses, or walk, or mass no transit)
