  1. I am confused, do you have the key? If so unlock the door at the key lock on the drivers door. dont try the remote.
  2. Did you try unlocking the door with the key manually? then put the key in the ignition and turn to on position. that is what the RX300 service manual says to do. Try the passenger door also with the key in the lock...

  6. YOU being in Arizona with the hotter climate would be a good candidate for a fluid failure. As for changing it I wonder what type they are using now. The older Lexus used Toyota Type IV. A full synthethic could hold up longer in a sealed system. As for doing it yourself you could drain it in containers that could be measured and pour in exactly the same amount for those concerned with over filling. Draining would at least show contaminants. Ford did this exact same thing I understand on some of their trannys, and had to revert back after having failures. Time will tell. I think keeping those fluid temps down to about 160 degrees would help also.
  7. Yes, I agree, I hate when their overconfidence about the term of maintenance goes beyond what common sense dictates. I think ford did this for a while, and ended up back stepping. Mechanical stuff wears out, plain and simple.
  8. Good luck my friend, make sure you file a complaint with the NHTSA online. the count keeps going higher. By the way was your car AWD (All wheel drive)?

Change the engine oil and filter have a drain and fill of the transmission fluid (not a flush please) If not done a lexus or toyota make sure it is Toyota Type IV fluid, no substitutions (this is very, very important) change the transfer case lubricant (AWD all wheel drive) Change the rear differential fluid if AWD inspect brakes replace air filter (if necessary) replace PCV valve This is for a RX300, but might be similiar. In your maintenance booklet they list all required service.

  11. I think you have some kind of vacuum leak. Maybe a cracked or broken hose.

  13. I highly suggest the use of thermoelectric grease between the coil and the plug to decrease corrosion and arcing due to moisture.

I would recommend a Fluid exhange, not a flush, You use the vehicles tranny pump to change the fluid versus the machine and not kick up debris, I just had this done on my Ford F150 and seems much safer than the forced flush with additives and cleaners. I suspect that some of the cleaners can be a real disaster on a old tranny. The way it works is the line is disconnected from the tranny to the cooler and the machine is put in series, than the car is ran in park which allows the Transmission pump to push the fluid through the cooler and transmission. No additives, no cleaners, no forced pressures.

  16. You are very fortunate. usually the good will only comes with 100%Lexus service. Good for you, As for the rest of us we just suck it in and ate $4300 for the fix. And that was with fluid changes every 30k with filter screen.
  17. I would also stay away from jiffy lube, the filter you get there may not be of the quality that you would want, and yes they are prone to push products that you dont need. Use a local Toyota dealership and use their quick change service. You will be out the door for less than $50.....
  18. That is too funny, not for you but me because my grandaughter was constantly taking spare change in the console and stuffing it in places you dont want it to go. I had to remove all potentials out until she got older.
  19. I agree, figure the mileage the old fashioned way, my readout has never been accurate, since the day I bought the vehicle new.
  20. I was talking about the heater resistance. not the other two leads, you are correct on the other leads resistance. I may have look at the oxygen sensor reading also, I know the Air fuel sensors are different.
  21. I too have had fantastic results with internet buying through the fleet administrator, He cuts deals you wont believe and when you go down to see the vehicle it has always been as promised. No funny haggling, just a set price including tax, license, out the door. I like it, dont have to go through those sales games. Just for fun I got the price and then went to the same dealership and tried to negotiate with a sales person, never did reach the same price as the internet sales price. was $900 higher best deal done.
  22. sounds like the wire to the sensor got disturbed or the sensor for the WWT is bad. Someone else had that problem and the sensor is fairly in expensive and once replaced fixed the problem. Maybe someone else will pipe in.

  24. I know for a fact the 99 does not have those latches for child seats. Mine doesnt.
  25. Yes that is me on the ford site, somewhere I read they were in series, but when I looked at the wiring diagrams it show them separately. the resistance should be 11 to 16 ohms however.
