  1. here it is: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...c=30723&hl=
  2. I would say a battery too....You might want to invest in a cheap voltmeter, (sears, harbor frieght etc) handy for these times and checking fuses, batteries, and wall sockets....
  3. Check your friends prices and then remember to go through GOTAPEX.com they have beat all prices that I have ever found....
  4. Your cheapest bet is a Lexus junkyard... Maybe go online and see what you can find... or ebay http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?f...&category0=
  5. think of replacing the harness as insurance. the wire gets really hot and aged. the insulation gets brittle. It is cheaper than removing the intake the second time....
  6. By the way it is probably not the O2 sensor, those are the air fuel sensors on bank 1 and 2...
  7. Here it is: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=41266
  8. I like the velcro idea, that would be my choice when it happens....
  9. Check the alternator with a voltmeter, if while the engine is running the voltage at the battery is 13.5 to 14.5 volts the alternator is working. You may want to look at your cables carefully. If they were corroded it may have gotten into the wire under the insulation. Also the ground to the engine may be loose or corroded. Check the starter connection also (12v) line.
  10. Another great oil is Castrol Oil Full synthetic synertec 0-30 weight made in Germany on the back. It is a very high quality oil and really made my RX300 purrrrrr.
  11. Kind of hard to give you info without you telling us what your shopping for in minimum configuration. I have bought 2 Dell laptops and been very happy. By the way their customer support lines beat HP... I buy all my computer equipment through GOTAPEX.com You still deal with the original vender, but are getting the very best price. I have never beaten the price on the four Dell computers that I have bought through that site. They also advertize HP, and others. There site info changes daily. I just know that my friend bought the exact same laptop for $400 more than I did and had the exact same specs. Here is the site: http://www.gotapex.com/
  12. If you have AWD your mileage is not too far off. I suggest cleaning the MAF sensor, changing the oil to a full synthetic like Mobil 1 5-20w, change your air filter, check your tire pressure and run 33lbs pressure. Put some Chevron Techron fuel cleaner in the gas tank and then see what you get. The California Gas sucks bigtime, The summer blend may be in the channel which might give poorer performance. As for your spark plugs they are probably fine. I changed mine at 120k miles and they looked great, new ones made no change to gas mileage.
  13. I bought my RX300 brand new in 98 from Sacramento Lexus, service there was OK. My tranny went at 100k and I took it to Roseville Lexus,,,worst thing you can ever do. They left bolts out, vacuum lines undone. Tranny was not right took 6 weeks for them to admit it was bad, replaced and then they left the sway bar mounts loose dragging on the drive axles. And everytime I went there something else was screwed up. I even went to the bother of making them put my car on the rack so I could inspect. They swore everything was perfect (Shop foreman and service manager said they had looked it over) and low and behold stuff was still loose and disconnected. They are by far the worst service facility that I have ever dealt with. They made promises to me and then never followed through. there mechanics at best are inept. I would never let them touch my car again. I have pictures of all of this as proof and Lexus of America said well they are the dealership, deal with them. I wrote the General manager a letter and got absolutely no response. Roseville Lexus is the worst Lexus dealership I have ever used. Go to Sacramento. good luck by the way they quoted $1300 for timing belt and waterpump...Took it to Maita Toyota near Fulton avenue, they did it for $500 and everything was done correctly. They even gave me the old parts and washed my car. (Great Service)
  14. I believe he is talking about the taper of the v in the belt. I stuck with OEM from Lexus of Plano Texas. They were cheap. Here is the site: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...m?siteid=213808
  15. Saves on your gas expense, Is your antifreeze good today?
  16. Those speed sensors could still be your shift problem. Also dont forget to do additional drain and fill on the tranny fluid.
  17. thank you, I will add that to my list of to do's on my wife's car.
  18. Here is a post that describes how and where to get OEM nav. Read it carefully.... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...igation+upgrade
  19. Hey thank you for the feedback, Question I have never changed my fluid, was it easy?
  20. Your not supporting Walmart is a dead issue, What we should not support is our Congressmen, Corporate America, and all of the rest of the idiots that have sent our jobs, manufacturing, and technology to the rest of the world. It will be our downfall and the United States will be 3rd in the world after China, India, and the rest. When was the last time your found something in any store that was really made in the US.????
  21. Please dont do a flush, just a drain and fill, You could drop the tranny pan and see if there is metal in there. If there is, move to the next step. Some light debris on the magnets is normal. See this post for more info than you want to know, great pictures and what to expect: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220061 Make sure to use nothing other than Toyota Type IV fluid, there are no substitutes.
  22. I doubt, that the shift selonoid is the problem, I got the same code when my tranny failed. The Whirling noise is not good. However you could try swapping the speed sensors on the tranny to see if it will go into reverse. Removing the Air cleaner box will give you access to these parts and should be real cheap, just swap the two sensors and see if conditions change. My next question is did you have the Lexus serviced only at Lexus dealerships? If yes, than many on this site have received a good will replacement of the tranny or at least only been charge for the labor (around $1700) which would be a lot cheaper than the $4300 or more. I would call Lexus of America and ask for their assistance, you might be lucky or get the usual sorry its past warranty, eat it answer. Also file a complaint with the NHTSB online, you will need the vin number of the vehicle, We are trying to force the government to do a recall, probably wont happen unless every tranny failure gets reported. The shift solenoid not working is probably due to debris in the valve body, not allowing movement of the solenoid plunger. Many have reported major amounts of metal debris in the tranny pan when having the transmission problems, (mine did) and was probably the result of a planetary gear or bearing failure. If and when you do get it repaired give us feedback, and make sure to service the tranny every 15k miles with a drain and fill routine to alleviate further failures. Good luck, I am very sorry to hear of your disaster, been there and felt the same way. There are a lot of posts on this problem on the RX300 on this forum. If you want a good cry, read it and learn the misery. Sorry, again good luck.
  23. no that picture is on a RX300, and has the same basic tranny, except when it has AWD. Does show the second plug for draining. A picture is worth a thousand words. have A GREAT DAY.
  24. That is great but the management is $$^&* up. If Lexmex posts everything he has lots of spare time....Yes they have there "points" but many (not here) are one-sided, same BS, poor management (clueless) etc, hence club-clueless. But I do like how they pimp illegal lighting..nice ha.. I find the site very "kid like" but that is me. They are giving out wrong info as noted above. If you cannot give a simple drain plug count right, wow. If you want to learn in my eyes, get the FSM and if you can "wrench" a little, you are well off then 80%. Ok, each to his own, here is a picture of the rear plug: post number 63 http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...0061&page=5 You know a lot of people like myself have a tremendous amount of experience on cars, and then there are those at least trying to make efforts to learn, and broaden their knowledge, so that hopefully the stealerships dont rape them when they walk in the door. That is why these forums are great, and lots of times the fixes come up that the dealerships cant seem to find or want to charge you for unnecesary parts replacers. have a great day
  25. Yup and it is tight..I use a cut 10mm wrench and a 10mm box end.. I was not being mad but I can't stand the other Lexus site. I still go out there and raz them up. Should take about 30 minutes to drain tranny and diff. Install new seal/filter and plug..Easy job and you will save a lot. Oh, if you just drained you can drain the diff and it will jut lose whatever is in there. But by this time it as mixed the fluids.. You may not like the other site, but for the RX300 forum it is fantastic, there are a couple of people there that are awlsome. LEXMEX being the winner. He posts everything with pictures and helpful info. Lot more technical info there also. Maybe your forum sucks, but I gain from both sites and posts help from either site when it is helpful to someone. Hey keep an open mind, I am several Ford sites too, and they each have their points, but helping and learning is what it is really all about.
