Exhuast Noise/leak Possible Manifold Gasket?
lenore replied to LdyLex's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
Another weak point is the flew coupling just below the engine. They crack and leak, Any muffler shop can replace it with a universal flex coupling for around $110..... -
Top down, driving between Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain to Torremolinos via The Rock of Gibralter, Trafauger, and Malaga. To my right the Atlantic than the Mediterean Sea with the coastal range of North Africa in the distance...Those were the days, racing my friends to see if we could beat the 1 hour 45 minutes record of an old aquantance (did it in an alfa rameo coupe). God I miss those days....The fifteen inch wheels of my Triumph TR250 with IRS and the manly straight six, with laycock de normanville tranny shifting up and down the gears to meet the demands of the road. Oh to be 22 years old and push the limits again....Used to do this a lot, top down in the winter with the heater blowing max to keep up with the chill....fun, fun, fun, gone.......................

I noticed that too with the RX330, my RX300 has much better visability. Those large pillars in the back make it quite different. Suggest adjusting the mirrors down so you see where the rear end is. (side mirrors) Other than that be careful...or get a backup camera....and then be careful...

This should be moved to ES350 forum....

I wish I had taken pictures, the rod is connected to the door lock actuator itself. And No you dont have to remove the outside door lock ( it wont help) I will have to find that post and see if any of the pictures show where it was hooked up...

I notice you are in Canada, possibly lots of corrosion on those teeth. I know your winters are a little tougher than where I am...

I had my timing belt and waterpump replaced at Maita Toyota in Sacramento for $500. Over half the price of the Lexus dealership and they did a fantastic job....

Solenoid (aka Magnetic Switch Assembly) Repair
lenore replied to artbuc's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
You guys are great, I too look at it as a challenge, cheap, yea that too, but I gain so much satisfaction knowing I can do this stuff and others cant. I just wish I could make money doing it. My wife thinks I am a genious, once and awhile. The other thing is you learn from doing this stuff, and boy I have friends that are amazed, and when I spent a hours worth of time and no parts cost, it makes me feel good when my neighbors talk about having to spend $500 or more to get the same thing fixed. I just repaired the vinyl on my wifes lexus, the cheapest quote was $100 and no guarantee that it would be completely hidden. I picked up a kit from Autozone and did the repair for the first time. $15 and my repair was completely invisable. Plus now I have enough to do about 50 more repairs. Amazes me how easy it was. I rebuilt my alternator (preventative) at 140k miles on the lexus for $50 with all Lexus parts. That is cheap compared to a new alternator and I know the quality of what I have done.... The door lock was a success with $15 in parts versus the lousy $258 part that I did the first time 5 years ago... The list goes on and I just keep it going....Good luck to all my fellow fixers and saturday shade tree mechanics.... -

Does Any One Know The Part Number For The Door ...
lenore replied to jab3style's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
Yes that is plenty, when you install it you piggy back the original actuator so that the sensors for the door computer work properly. 3/4 inch is plenty... -

Does Any One Know The Part Number For The Door ...
lenore replied to jab3style's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
Zero4, I hope you are still out there! Here are my answers: 1 - no, 2 - no, 3 - all but drivers side front, 4 - yes, 5 - all but drivers side front. So, I assume the driver's side front actuator must be working because is works with the key in the driver's side door. Is there a fuse common to the remote, passenger and driver's side switches? Looks like my driver's side door ECU is bad? Thanks for your help. The key only moves a mechanical linkage, so no your drivers door electrical motor actuator is bad or weak...Sorry. Dont bother looking further. -
Does Any One Know The Part Number For The Door ...
lenore replied to jab3style's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
Your door actuator is bad, or very weak, I have to replace mine twice in 9 years. The last time instead of paying an additional $258 for the part alone I decided to try this: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...c=41219&hl= You have to be a little mechanically inclined, but guess what cost???? $10 for two actuators (have spare now) and it took me about 2 hours of my time. And it works fantastic. Great write up on this post.... Bought them in Ebay listed under door lock actuators and was a lot cheaper than local auto stores. I found one at Kragens which was identical to what I bought, they wanted $44 for it. Ordered from ebay and got 2 for $15 shipped. I even saw 4 for $20 on ebay.... -
Running Your Car With Hydrogen? (water)
lenore replied to fordsvtmfl's topic in 93 - 05 Lexus GS300 / GS400 / GS430
funney you guys talking about this, everytime I go to South Sacramento California, to visit my mother in law I end up behind a fuel cell car, so far I have seen a Mercedes, Ford, GmC, Toyota. All in models I have not seen on the street normally. They are a blast to follow, completely quiet, and when they accelerate water pours out of the exhaust pipes. California must be experimenting with them and I suspect maybe Sacramento State College might have something to do with it. I havent seen any news on it but the cars are clearly marked with decals of being fuel cell operated. -
Yes the instructions in the kit tell you how. they provide a fabric backing for the initial glueing when there is a large gap. Good luck.

Go to autozone and get the permatex vinyl and leather repair kit. I did and it worked great. cost about $15. I praticed on some typing paper and just did a tear on my door sill. Came out perfect.

B) Well last weekend my wife had the GPS clipped on the passenger window and rolled the window down to put a sunshade up. yep, wiped out the vinyl trim on the top of the door. The clip tore a 1 and 1/4 inch slit into the vinyl cover. Best quote i got was $100. and no guarantee of visability. Well I figured if they can do it I can. Went to autozone and bought the permatex kit for vinyl and leather repair. A little scarey but I practiced on a sheet of paper for mixing the color. Their tip is to smear some on the area near the tear and match the color and then wipe off. You start with a clear vinyl repair glue and let dry for 4 hours, then do the color with a texture paper and heat iron (supplied in the kit) Well I did it last night on my wifes RX300 (grey interior) and her eyes coulnt believe it. Completely gone. color was a dead on match with mixing black with white until you get the right grey. sounds hard, but I am very happy and so is my wife. Cost ???? $15 for the kit. And enough to do at lot of vinyl and leather repairs on any color. Never done it before and the results were fantastic. Just takes a brave soul to melt that vinyl on the existing fabric. Good luck to all, highly recommend the Permatex kit.
