  1. i have an ES250. dude, thanks very much for the salute, its people liek you that keep me going when thinsg get rough. its appreciated...by all of us, not just me. i leave on valentines day as of now, but that can/probably will change. we will see. and im not going to Iraq, just ADR.
  2. i thought it was, CARFAX indicated no issues, and the leak wasnt bad when i bought it, but everything has gotten prgessively worse since ibought this car. i had the car inspected by myself, my dad and a "real" mechanic, he said there were some issues, but nothing otu of the ordinary for a 15 year old car. and the engien and tranny RUN beatufilly (knock on wood), the motor just leaks like a sieve. jason, i may be back this weekend to have you remove the tranny pan and fic "that" leak as well as doing the fluid change...you are the only one i trust notto power flush the trans. i have the axle for the car, so i will be out there tuesday. :)
  3. good to hear, is 330PM ok? im hearing ya about getting rid of it. i just cant bear to sell this car to some unsuspecting idiot in the shape its in...its dangerous...and its unethical. just cause i got screwed doesnt mean someone else has to. what i will end up doing istrading it in, and getting the best i can for it. that way i have my consience, whoever gets it next, has only the dealer to blame if there are problems. ;)
  4. cross poster... :chairshot: i really dont know much about ATX's, so someone else will have to help...
  5. well, thankfuly, my Tranny is failry solid...for now *knocks on wood*
  6. oh.... how dislexic i am tonite, and all week, i promise ill start over monday with a cleanslate... :cries: :(
  7. ok, taking the car to 6,000 rpms will never hurt it. thats why the redline is there, get in the red, and you start doing damage, but even then, once in a GREAT while is ok. a $400 tune up is rediculous, dont pay that, a speedy lube will charge you $180 or so and will change, air filter, PCV valve ( a nessesity after about 45K, it begins to push oil out the seals causing leaks), INTAKE CLEANING, and an oil change. do a collant fulsh and a tranny drain and fill. do 2 drain and fills if the fluid is black, but dont do them back to back, do one, then wait 3K and do another. the only thinsg internally that will fail in a motor, you cannot check visually w/out taking it a part, except MAYBE rod bearings (not sure onm toyotas, but on old chevy;'s you could just remove the oil pan and inspect them...)
  8. unfortunately, not from chicago, it was $1200 for me to ship a ford contour from Chattanooga TN to here, cna you imagine what it would cost from there?i dont have $300 in the bank anyways, i am BROKE. if this cars trans drops tomorrow, i am *BLEEP*ed...not a good feeling (*get the feeling, toyota*? ) lex, what did they say is wrong with your transaxle? ATX's are not an easy thing to deal with, they have over 12,000 moving parts related to them, crammed into a space smaller than a basketball...i woulkd advise taking it to a specialty shop, then...after its fixed...DRIVE THE *BLEEP* OUT OF IT. just so you get your $$'s worth.
  9. heh, my GF took my Lex today fo ra showing...that was funny!
  10. on th eSC430, the platform is based of the Toyota Soarer (JDM) IIRC (may not be now, because the design changed) but if it is, the base fuel over there is 91 octane, so it would make sense they require premium, also the CR makes a difference, as do engine materials.
  11. oh...duh...i fogot about the IAC valve, check that, and clean it. i stand by my original statement, yoru engine will not cost anywhere near $5500 to rebuild, cause i (as a mechainc) can rebuild an old mopar V8 for under $1,500 P&L.
  12. no, knowing what i know about it, never i have a steady job yes, the residence, no...im still living with my folks, dont pay rent. you do when what you want to trade in is less than the amount of the car you want to buy, and you dont have the balance in cash though, thats my problem. :D i had to ride a bicycle 20 miles a day before i got this car, for 2 months (almost 3) because i had to save money to buy a car, when i had my wreck i had $18.79 in the bank. if i could make myself afford it, i would. i may yet still.... and yes, 18% is a car loan, thats what my parents paid on their first new car (in 1982...Nissan Pulsar). i dont want NEW. i want a 1999 -2001 Jeep Wrangler, or a 1997-2000 ES300 if i can find one for under 10K, and get a loan. my bank (bank one) refuses to finance me without a cosigner. as does MECU (Motorola Employees Credit Union), because i have no credit history... help!
  13. i probably will, i like those jeep wranglers... :) i do love my lex too... but i cant trade it in, i have never taken a loan out on anything, so i would need a cosigner...my parents refuse, and i dont feel liek paying 18% interest, i might was well fix this.
  14. all good points, but can i possibly get $2000 for it in this condition? and thanks Steviej, i appreciate the poll. :) and 2 the guy who suggested +4 plugs, i refuse to use them, i had a chjevy S10 that i used them in, and 2 of the elements broke off of the plug and went into my cylinder, scoring cylinder walls, it also put a hole in my #4 piston. sorry, i just dont trust them.
  15. LMAO @ Bartkat :D
  16. no actually its not, it looks like somebody drilled a hole in it, its perfectly round, but you did answer my question, and thats what i figured, any other opinions? i have filled holes in engine blocks (like modifying for engine swaps, not for repairs of holes in engine blocks LOL) using it, but thats a little different. any other opinions? i suppose i coudl try it, worst case scenario, it doesnt work.
  17. glad to hear it, and thanks for updating us!!
  18. not exactly, the poor engine was sucking in unfiltered air, notice how there is no gasket aroun the filter in the pic? thats because the gasket that was on it turned to dust when i touched it. i literally had to vaccuum it out of the bottom of the airbox. so it was sucking in dirty air for mrobably the last 100,000 miles, im amazed it still runs as good as it does. the motor/trans has NEVER told me no when i tell it to do something. and thats the way i like it. :D 99lsguy, im not sure how it is on an LS but on an es, you dont have to remove any vaccuum hoses to get to the intake, only the big rubber intake hose. ← Well then, at some point in its life there had to be a high pressure drop across the filter. God only knows what all happened over that period of time. I do hope it's all better now. ← been 197 mile snow, just not quite to a half a tank yet...so far so good.:whistles: :D ← Good deal. ← oh and one more thing, make sure to clean your MAF and IAT while in there, thast what waws making mine run all funky, they were both filty!
  19. i have a hole in my resonator, rigthbefore the connection to the pipefor the cat. its small and perfectly round, like someone drilled it there, is it possibel to fill it with JB weld? i dont have th e$$$ for a new resonator right now, and i really want my engine quiet.
  20. ik put premium in my 1990 ES250, surely you are not above putting int in you 05 SC430? if i had an 05 SC430, i would never put anything less than 93 octane in it...unless i absolutely had to, and then its only 91.

  22. i wouldnt, in fact, mine is polarized, but i intend to have it tinted, that way i can leave ths shade open most fo the time and nto have to worry about sun fade. i like the shade open. if yours isnt polarized, it shouldnt cost more than $30 or so to have limo tint put on it, then you never have to worry about it again :) but if you dont like it the way iot is, and you would rather have polazed, take it back. :)
  23. congrats on the new job!
  24. Man, if ur a realtor, u shouldn't use a luxury car to escort clients to show properties. It just gives them an idea someday to file a lawsuit if there's a small loophole in the contract, cuz they know you've got the $$$ ← drive a nice car, but nottoo nice. my GF uses a Honda Accord V6 w/ leather to do her showings...already has 220K on it...and its a 2000!
