  1. <_< I don't think I've ever come across this one before. Can someone describe this sound, and possibly the part that's making this noise? thanks I don't think it can be the fuel. Then the pinging noise would continue during higher RPMs.
  2. then again there is something about getting OEMs again. Too bad you're not interested in high-quality performance products.:cries: I can get you a deal if you're interested.
  3. Private Message me, or email at UCF3LOC@netscape.net
  4. Two options. 1) have Pepboys run the codes for you. 2) fax number, and I'll send you something from Alldata.com
  5. Most likely it's your Rotors, but if they check out, you may have another problem. I'd say, feel the rotors and if they don't feel even, you have have another problem and need to consult expert advice from a Toyota/Lexus or independent specialist. Do you have two screw holes on the Rotors or two screws that are missing from the caliper?
  6. A bad tire, a bad wheel, and Strut can also be the culprit, depending on the severity of the damage. Even a loose screw can be a problem especailly with the GEn I LS. vyhanh: How often does your brake pedal pulsate--rapid, or slow?
  7. -_- , not sure what leaving the cap open overnight will really do. Have you tried turning the steering wheel side to side-while running the engine (not familiar with OEM Procedure)?
  8. It's possible you have something else that is causing the problem. I would also check out your Tire, Tire-Balance, alignment, wheel(s), tie rods, strut tower. I would suggest, moving the front tires to the back, and while you have the car up in the air look for any leaks in your strut tower, and other places. For the tie rod, try to get underneath the car while it's on the ground, and jiggle tie rods and control arms for movement.
  9. Oh yeah!, someone in Indiana, this may interest you. Autotrader It looks like it needs a lot of work. :cries: but it may be worth something.
  10. Thought you guys in St. Louis and Missouri would be interested in this rare 92 5speed SC3. If someone is interested, contact them. The car is looking for a good home :) Autotrader
  11. Isn't the tax rule for vehicles over 5000lbs and leased? I've heard there is a list of vehicles, and I think I've heard the BMW X5 is on the list. Isn't that about the same weight as the RX?
  12. Some of us enjoy the non-trac mode. I love doing donuts in the parking lot. "Also, if the transmission is so smart & can tell how I am driving, why would I need a switch to tell it I want more power? " I'm a little lost with this question. As far as I know, non of the Lexus transmissions have intelligence on them. Fill me in.
  13. Sorry to hear about the accident. I can get you any parts you need if you wish, but from the sounds of it, you're getting your car repaired by a bodyshop. Switching to R134a sounds like a good idea. Safer and better switch.
  14. Lexur: That's ok. UCF3 Raminduction writes: "I just joined the club, but have had my LS400 for some time. I found the ride to be a bit soft for my tastes, but it was probably ok for the person Lexus is marketing the LS 400 to. I was fortunate in that the car I bought did not have the factory "cadillac" suspension, so I was able to "upgrade" the beast to Eibach springs and Koni shocks. This lowered the car about 1" all around, but greatly improved the manners and roadability of the car. It rides quite nicely on the freeway, and back roads are acceptable (upgrading of the anti-sway bars is next on the list), but not quite to my approval level. The other drawback is that the stock 6.5" wheels are a bit skinny for a 3800 pound car. I'd prefer 8"-ers all around, but Japanese engineering won't allow this, especially on the front, where the tire/wheel is crammed between the upper extension of the spindle and the inner fender-well (this bizarre design makes for some v. complicated front end geometry, especially if the roll center is to be in the right place). Looks like I'll have to settle for 7 or 7.25" rims...too bad, as the LS 400 has more potential than the Japanese engineering will allow. The other bug-a-boo on the car is weak brakes. They're fine in "little old lady" mode, but really are too small for this car. Looking to upgrade to the later LS 400 brakes. Of course, the thing could also use another 100 hp and 100 ft-lbs of torque, but that's a topic for another discussion." Raminduction: Thought I'd re-post your comments, but I'd appreciate it if you could check out the Visitors and New Members Forum to brush-up on your usage of the Forum. I agree with your comments, but you never mentioned what year LS you own. It would be nice to know. ;)
  15. Bscandalous Writes: "My tilt steering is fix. I went in and added 2 washers to the gear and it worked like a charm. The Lexus dealer told me it was going to cost $792. This a easy .50 cent fix .Thanks for the info and everyone who owns a Lexus should look hear first before going to pay large sums of cash for jobs that can do yourself. Thanks again." Do you have a picture before and after the eibach sprints? I just want to know what it looks with eibach. Thanks."
  17. MBgawest Writes: "Hi bicol: Not sure why PM would not work for me. I returned your email. I'm in So. Calif. also How hard was it to do the job? Did you have a manual?" Mbgawest: The reason why your PM doesn't work is because we don't have one setup for you. You must reach a certain number of posts before it activates. You can also use the QUote feature, but if you're not aware on how to work something please contact me at UCF3LOC@netscape.net until your PM starts working. Thanks UCF3 Moderator SC and LS Forums
  18. I'll agree with the Ebay seller. Both Porsche and MB have cross-drilled because the manufacturer believes, the average US Driver will never reach the maximum potential of the rotors under street conditions and they are correct. In my opinion, the combination is better because I want my rotors to last longer than 7 years, and proper ventillation will help me with that. I don't really care how many pads I go through, but they are correct, slotted will reduce the life of the pads. So far I've replaced my pads twice since late 02. When I had my stock setup, the pads lasted me at least two years, but I had to shave the rotors. The combination is very popular amongst many tuners because they track their cars every weekend. I have the combination on my fronts and just cross drilled on my rears because DC traffic . hope this answers your question.
  19. <_< Hmmmm. Sounds a little fishy. Is it possible one of the connectors in the back of the Guage Cluster isn't properly seated? Let us know if the problem returns.
  20. Mbpgawest Writes: "Hi Alan: I have a '97 LS 400 and I'm looking at replacing my shocks/struts. I would be interested to hear what you do and what the end results is. I was just going to have the dealer take care of replacing them. I did a service on my car this weekend and found that my fronts are leaking just a bit. 21. DRobBham Writes: "I have a 1992 SC400 That I have had for over 5 yrs. Mileage is around 208,000. The Total Extent of my Repair issues consist of Hmmm.... Lets See... Well I Had To Replace the battery once... normal (loving) Maintenance i.e. Brake Pads, Fluids, tires, Etc. And Absolutely NO other Issues. Would Find it More Trustworthy on a Long trip than my Other Vehicle. 2002 Grand Cherokee Limited. Lexus is a GREAT vehicle! Strict Unwavering Loyalty... Until this weekend... Not Sure Exactly what happened... in a three day period, 1. The Power Window Actuator went out in the Drivers window, 2. The Illumination went out on BOTH the Guage Levers on Dash. (Gas and Temp} 3. The Tilt Steering Memory/adjustment suddenly started making a LOUD noise if you attempt to lower it. It is STUCK in the all the way UP and all the way OUT position.. (quite Umcomfortable to drive) 4. The "TRAC" light is suddenly ON all the time. 5. Just Noticed a NOTICEABLE Vibration in the steering. Upon inspecting the condition of front tires, found them toi be in QUITE poor condition. (15K Miles into 60K Tires.) Apparently Front End is suddenly out of alignment. Anyone have any knowledge of A cherished, Loved, WELL cared for Lexus having a Hiccup?? More Importantly, Had the Window Actuator, replaced at the Dealership. The Modules for the "TRAC" and Guage Leevrs are on Order. The Alignment Will be in the Morning... But The part that has me puzzled is this. The Service Director (great guy) Told me that he felt strongly that the motor was fine in the Tilt mechanism. He says he has had several with the same issue and that when they get into replacing one, they usually always find that it is only that the Bold / fasterer has back out enuff to allow the gears to not mesh properly. He said that it was most likely something that i could repair myself, and that the cost of having it done at the dealership was QUITE Offensive. Hence, I can fine NO information, Schematics, Manual for how one would go about getting TO the module. Whats it look like, etc. I have started it once and realized quickly that there must be a way that i was just Not comprehending. I am somewhat mechanically inclined. Change my own pads, belts, etc... Any Info about How to recognize the Module... What all needs to be removed Cosmetically? Anyone else attempted this??" 22. mbpgawest writes: "I noticed that not a single person went to the Lexus deal to have thier tires balanced. Why? I have a '97 with Bridgestone Potenza RE33's on it. I get them replaced at the dealership and have yet to have any problems with balance. Only complaint that I have with these tires is that they don't last as long as other tires do. I think it has to do with the soft rubber that they are made of. Anyone else have these tires?" mbpgawest: Do me a favour. 23. Wait a minute, you're closer to the UK than we are. Why don't you get a Soarer? I'd focus on that.
  24. Is that the dealer price or somewhere else? Some Places I would get parts from is Lexuspros.com, http://www.lexus-parts.com/ or a source that I use to get OEM parts.
