  1. lol... maniek... ur right... i absolutely forgot about u guys :chairshot: I must admit... it does suck for u guys to have to pay so much for gas. I think Canada also pays quite a lot... cause i remember seeing a lot of Montreal people driving all the way down to Plattsburgh to buy groceries n other stuff n filling up on gas. Well... u might as well fill up since it's cheaper eh?
  2. I agree wit Toys... u can do that. But no harm in double checking wit the dealers. If u do a person to person deal... there r moving truck companies... that do pick up cars... i believe my friend had his Sentra delivered from NYC to California for around $800. I could b wrong on the price though... i dont remember exactly how much. Just have the Vin ready when u purchase it... so u can go to the insurance agency... to make everything faster.
  3. out of curiosity... dont u have to put seafoam then fill up the tank? Is that ok? I know when i put Chevron wit Techron.... i put that stuff in just prior to filling up. How often do u get vaccum leaks? U can check out if ur O2 sensors r ok by following the steps here http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/EFI/mainoxygensensor.html I know it's for a LS. But i'm assuming the concept is the same. I dont know wut the ohm readings should b on an ES though. Can n e one confirm if its the same? That it should b reading around 5.1-6.3 ohms at 68 degrees? Good luck. Tom B)
  4. If it's tighter steering... do u have enuff P/S fluid in there? How is it during most of the ride? Does it get smoother? Tom
  5. when u pulled the wires out... u sure u didn't rip n e of the wires right? I'm not sure if that would contribute to the problems... but it's a start i suppose. As for the radiator... i dont know whose right or wrong. Perhaps do a Fuel Injector treatment... i hear Seafoam is good... i usually do Chevron wit Techron. I'll try Seafoam next time. Good luck... i hope u get ur problems fixed Tom
  6. my sister's b/f's 93SC400 was getting the same gas mileage. But when we swapped my MAF... it improved drastically. He had no trouble code or n e thing telling him his MAF was going. I guess it was crapping out or something like that. I live in NYC... n wit the fuel prices these days... n i checked today... $2.74 or $2.77 :cries: realli hurts ur wallet. Thank god... i fueled up earlier this week where it was 10 cents cheaper... i guess just a couple of bucks... but i'm broke... so n e dollar i save helps. But i think i'm getting around 17mpg or 18mpg in City.
  7. I think u can download the repair manual using this website... but u will have to pay for it http://www.alldatadiy.com/ http://techinfo.lexus.com/ If u want a hard copy... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-Lexus-...sspagenameZWD1V I think if u also register wit lexus... they will send u a manual too... but i dont think its the repair manual. As for using their ATF... if u buy n e thing from Lexus... it's going to b a lot expensive... if u want... u can always go to a Toyota Parts store n pick up the materials needed. For example... they had the thermostat n throttle body gasket i needed for my 92LS that i needed. N even the coolant was 5 dollars cheaper. I'm sure u can use outside ATF if u want... just make sure it's the right type. I'm sure u can get all the gaskets from Toyota too... since Lexus is basically the luxurious version of a Toyota. As a matter of fact... in Japan... they dont even call a Lexus a Lexus... they call them Toyota.... but with different Level. If u search the forum... for specific operations u need to do on ur car... i'm sure they have someone who did it for ur generation. Some forum posts contain a lot of info n pictures that u can download. For me... i'm in luck... i use www.lexls.com for my car... since the webmaster has a 91LS n i have a 92. I know there is a lot of difference between our generation n urs... but i'm sure the concept should b similiar. Cause i'm a car idiot... so using that website even helped me fix my sisters 93 maxima. Well good luck. Tom B)
  8. maniek... do u have a junkyard around ur area? If so... do u think u can pick up a 1st gen LS or SC? Check other towns around ur area for lex parts. Good luck on finding it. Tom
  9. I think you should stay within the generation range of the vehicle just to make things more simplier. If u go to a junk yard... u can probably get the engine for pretty cheap. Cause when i drive to the junkyards here... they always tell me they can't get rid of the Lexus engines... just b/c they aren't in high demands... n even one junk yard owner said... they r INDESTRUCTABLE assuming u dind't get into an accident. Looking by eye... the LS n SC engines are the same. My sis's b/fs 93 SC n my 92 LS r exactly the same... with exceptions to a few components. So i think swaping shouldn't be a problem. But just stay within ur generation range. Inspect the motor before u buy it. Cause when i go to the junkyard... they have some of the motors out on the side... n exposed to the rain n other elements.... which kinda gets me nervous about buying a motor if i ever need to. Check when the vehicle was brought in... n hopefully they had a regular service done to the engine... n hopefully it was a rear end accident. If it was front... hopefully it wasn't serious. Jot down the vin n do a search to see in the past if that vehicle has been in n e prior accident or if it has been maintience regularly... n i'm sure u can get the background check from a lexus dealership. Good luck ;) Tom B)
  10. hahaha Toys... thanks for ur honest opinion. ;)
  11. Hey guys... just wondering what u guys think about this type of mod? If u guys want... this guy did a lot of wild things to his car... a pretty good DIY site too... even though it's not the same car... but i'm sure the concept is similiar. In terms of the mod... u think it would do anything bad to the car? Good or bad idea? http://vamp.darkravers.net/DIYCheapOilCatc...onnectingFilter I'll b honest... i didn't search to see if this topic was discussed before... i think it hasn't been... but i could b wrong :chairshot: Tom
  12. Glad to hear that your problem was solved. I hope u can get the car running on all 8 cyclinders. I must agree with J.barley... ur car looks great. I can only wish my car looked 1/2 as nice I do like the rims too
  13. Well the bulbs are easy to take out. Be sure u buy the right bulbs for ur car. If i were you... i wouldn't buy the hyper white brands that you see on ebay, autozone, strauss, etc. There are many selections u can go with. It's been discussed on this forum before. Do a search... n u'll find many answers on what people suggest. I personally bought the Silver Stars for my g/f's ES. On my LS... i have the PIAAs. It's up to u. Everyone will have different opinions on the type of bulb. As for removing the bulbs... just look behind ur headlight housing.... u'll see 2 plugs i guess u can call them... i'm not sure the right terminology... press down on the clip... unhook it from ur bulb... just turn them and ur bulbs will pop out. Be sure not to get ur finger prints on the bulbs. If u have like a latex glove... i would suggest to wear them just in case u accidentally touched the bulb. Hope this helps.... if u need further information... let us know.
  14. It was Toy's Xmas gift to all of us. Thanks again Toys. :P http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=26449
  15. I've never done this job yet... but i plan to do this in the near future. Try using a needle nose plyier to get the tubing in there. If ur handy with a chopstick... that might help u get a better reach over the needle nose :P . As for the socket wrench with a universal joint not working... im not sure. Try emailing Carl... the creator of www.lexls.com. He's pretty good at returning emails when in need. He can probably give u all the tips n ideas for every work u need. Good luck Tom
  16. yup... they will check up on OBDII's for free. But again... u can also do wut Toy's suggested too. If you want... u can buy OBDII scanners urself so u dont have to go to Autozone n ask for them to scan it. But they can go for $75+... so i think u might want to just go to Autozone. Hehehe. Tom
  17. Well if u have an OBDII... go to autozone or strauss auto... they should b able to pull those codes for u for free. As for what Toys was talking about... follow this link http://www.troublecodes.net/Lexus/ Good luck. U wont know what is causing the trouble code... could b the remote start... or it could b other things malfunctioning.
  18. i'm not sure... but i'm just taking a stab at it... i could b wrong.... but perhaps there is some debris around the brake pad. Try cleaning ur pads out to see if the squeak will end. How much life is remaining on ur pads too?
  19. Thanks for the idea guys. Well Plat's car starter sounds strong. It definitely is turning over. Do u think that if it's a bad starter... do u guys think that it would make the negative terminal burning hot? Also.... i noticed the other day when i tried to start his car... as i insert the key... n turn it to ACC or ON position... i heard two clicks... everytime. What is that? I didn't turn the key other than to turn it to the ACC or ON position... i didn't even crank the engine. My LS doesn't do that. Thanks for the help Tom
  20. Sorrie i can't realli help... Never noticed that before. Perhaps someone else can shed some light to your answer. I'm assuming if u passed all ur inspections... n u dont notice anything bad about the drive... it should b ok... temporaily. Like what wut Aussie said... perhaps u'll lose on fuel economy... or release more smog into the air like Lenore mentioned.
  21. Well Autozone will do it for OBDII. They wont do it for OBD I. Plus... im not sure if they even know how to do it. Even if they do... i doubt they would do it for u. Just follow that site and you should be fine. I assure u.... i was very car stupid.... ask Toys... he can confirm it :P ... hahaha... i did this myself... u'll be fine. Just have like a 18 Gauge wire... about 4 inches in length... n just strip the ends of the wire.... about 1/4 inch off the end on both sides. Just a word of advice... print out the picture... to make it easier when u go to the car to pull out the trouble code. Be sure to align the picture accordingly. Like i mentioned in other posts.... i dont know what will happen if u jump the wrong terminals... but best not take that risk. But u should be fine after that. Once u know which code it is.... do a search for that trouble code.... or... u can ask the forum if u can't find n e info on it. Good luck. Tom ;)
  22. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/emission/egrfilter.html That website will explain what each part is. As for what it does... well i can't really tell u other than the fact that it deals with emission controls. I dont know if it will affect performance wise. Perhaps someone else can give you a more detail explanation what will happen if it broke off. Good luck. Tom ;)
  23. Yea i agree. I have a 92 LS. I think about 1 1/2 to 2 years of straight driving. But it also depends on the driver too. Some people like my dad brakes really heavy. So he has a tendency to wear out his brakes. I dont know about the sensors and stuff.... but generally i usually get them changed about every 2 yrs to 2 1/2 yrs. So it sounds correct to me.... but thats just me. I think it would also depend on the type of pads you have.
  24. i'm looking for the MAF sensor. I can fit it on my sister's boyfriends car. Email me at tommyhuang@mail.com If u can tell me how much it will cost i can fwd the info to him.
  25. Wow... looks very COOL! But sooo expensive. In NYC... we need to have both license plates on.
