  1. Did u guys solve the problem or find out what is causing it to stall? Does it rough idle for a while or does it just stalls immediately after it is cranked up???
  2. Hey Josh... sorry i'm kinda late with this post... but i just want to say CONGRATS!!! I haven't taken that plunge... so i can't comment on it. Good luck to da both of u. As for Meghan... welcome to the family. Josh has been an active member here... thats y many of us know him. As a matter of fact... in the past i have PMed him a lot... as i do with Toys n a few others... who i bug... hahaha. But welcome. Josh... i'm in NY... i can techniqually make it to watertown... though the drive is dreadful... perhaps it will coincide with me visiting Plattsburgh. HAHAHA... just joking. Take pics... let me see em too. On a different note... THE POST OFFICE IS WAITING FOR U TO PICK UP THE PACKAGE!! I haven't seen u online for a while... just like to let u know. I hope they don't return it back to me again. Go n bust down their door n tell them... u want ur package. I'm 100% i got ur addy right... if i really did make a mistake... i have to had ur FULL NAME right at least. Well again... congrats bud... n i'm jealous of u having such an awesome fiance. I can only wish my g/f would support me on working on cars. Hahahaha Tom
  3. i just recently started using Castrol GTX as well. No issues for me n the 3 cars i've been doing oil changes on. Tom
  4. Well in the diagnostics port that is located in the engine area... it's normal to find grease there. So don't worry if u see grease. It's meant to b that way. Well ur suppose to b able to pull the diagnostic's code from Autozone since urs is a OBDII. But since i guess they can't find it... do wut Archi said. U can do it urself. U just need a paper clip... n connect the TE1 n E1 together... meaning... one end of the paperclip will go to TE1... n the other end will go into E1. Then u can turn the keys to the ON position... n count the blinks. It'll repeat... so don't worrie if u don't get it the first time. Plus if there r multiple codes... it will display them all... n then repeat. U can download the FSM for ur particular car (it is stickied above this particular posting area)... Santarme supplied that as a wonderful X-mas gift. There is a lot of info there too. In case... here is a website that can help u too: http://www.troublecodes.net/Lexus/ N e other questions wut the codes mean... u can do a search or u can post it if the search yields no information... or u need a more indepth info. Good luck. Tom
  5. No problem... glad i could help... even though the credit goes to the author of the tutorial. Red sounds good. Probably would work well. Nice racing type colors. Take some pics when u have it done... i would love to see it on ur car... as i have the same car... however... i have the Gen II Rims... so if i were to ever do the project... it would look better than on the 1st gen rims.
  6. U can always go to ur Autozone, Strauss, Napa, Advanced Auto, etc... n look for the Mighty Lift. They r fine. I changed them in my g/f's 92 ES300 without any mods. Check that out... in case u don't feel like waiting for ebay.
  7. Definitely a tune up will help if u notice the mileage decreasing. I've yet to do mine... since it has been really cold here. I got my plugs n wiresets all ready... but just need to find the time n date to do it. Also... if ur O2 sensors r old n original like mine is... u may want to get it changed. It probably can go for a bit longer... as mine finally started to show signs of it crapping out. 14 years... n i never (or my father) changed the O2. My check engine light came on... wit a Code 25 i believe... so it's time to get it done. That should definitely help my lack of fuel economy. Good luck.
  8. that is true... Toys have been in his Engine, Transmission, n Headlight projectors than many of us combined. Where is the AE buddy? N how's the tranny doing? As for the hood struts... check out the mighty lift for ur car... see if they look exactly like the ones in ur car. My g/f's ES fit just fine with no modification. As for my sister's 93 maxima... i have to modify it. Good luck Tom
  9. i never had a good experience wit Jiffy Lube. For some reason... they just aren't that good. I heard many complaints about them. I don't know y that is. Perhaps we may b the small number of peeps who have gotten the wrong impression... but i start doing my oil changes n my coolant changes from now on... i won't bring it to them. The only thing i like about them is... they love asking wut pressure i like my wheels at. HAHAHA. They r pretty professional about taking care of u... but as for their techs... i wouldnt trust them n e more after my experience. Tom
  10. Dextron III is made to replace Dex II. So go wit III. Or so i hear from many people. Same with the P/S fluid.
  11. I've never done it. But it looks pretty cool though. I wouldn't mind seeing how a gold or red one would look on mine. However... my car doesn't have n e thing fancy like rims or body kits. My car is just plain old stock stuff :P But to answer ur questions... here is a link. Hope this helps. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...?showtopic=5602 The guy painted it gold. Showed some steps... n even put a Lexus logo sticker on it. So take a look... n pick a nice warm day to do it. HEHE Tom Well u live in Arizona... i guess everyday is warm.
  12. Great input... n welcome to the club. As for my sis's b/f's car.... he still hasn't taken the kickers out from a professional... though he has changed the battery yet again since it was under warranty. He said he would do it this coming week... so i'll let u guys know. Tom
  13. :chairshot: :chairshot: Thats wut i would do to the guy. He wants u to take 20% of the blame?!?! That's ludacris. He blew the light @ 60mph... that's highway speed... he should've judged the light better. The way these insurance company's r operating... kinda makes me mad. Wut happened to being honest? Tom
  14. not trying to b mean to the woman... cause i do feel bad for her... but she was the one who freaken caused the accident. Was she using at least a handsfree? Well i guess different states have different laws about talking on the cell phone while driving. Well i'm glad ur friend walked out alive as it should always b that way. The sad reality is... the one who usually causes the accident usually are the ones who walks... while the ones who receive r the ones hospitalized... n at times in the graves. I'm really suprised he only walked off with such minor injuries... an impact at 50mph is no joke. The heavy engine definitely prevented a lot of things. Again... thank god everyone was able to walk out... automobiles should always protect us... sadly... doesn't always turn out that way. Perhaps one day we'll have an automobile like in Demolition Man... where the whole car FOAMS up. LOL. Best Wishes to ur friend Tom
  15. i definitely had to change mine. I definitely had noise coming out of it... so i couldn't repack it wit grease n new boot... even though they said i could. I knew mine was pretty much fried... so i had to get mine changed. Especially how they salt the freaken roads up there. Thanks Toys for that thorough walk through to answering each questions. Tom
  16. Damn i didn't know that. 1/4 " is a lot. Well i dont know n e thing about an exciter ring since i'm not that mechanical. But i guess it's feesable. Wut exactly is an exciter ring... n how does it tie into the ABS brakes? Sorry... i'm hoping someone can educate me. Since i have warranty on it... i suppose the next time it goes out... i can bring it in... n have them change that sucker... n hopefully get one that fits better. Does the CV Shaft matter if it came from a Camry? I dont think so right? It shouldn't if they r basically the same car. Unless that CV shaft i bought wasn't meant for one wit ABS brakes. I dont know... just a hunch. Thanks for the info mrag. Tom
  17. just to help Mr.B. This is the email he got back from Lexus: Lexus recommends Genuine Toyota/Lexus coolant. Here are the ingredients: 85-90% Ethylene Glycol less than 5% Diethylene Glycol less than 5% hydrated inorganic acids and organic acid salts less than 5% water must be ethylene-glycol based Just remember akewlguy.... if u had green... n ur switching over... b sure to FLUSH the crap out of it. Just follow the tutorial @ www.lexls.com. The drain !Removed! will b a !Removed!... just letting u know that right now. Just have some pb blast ready... n i hope u have a 3/8 inner diameter viynl tubbing ready too. Speaking of which... i think lexls.com is down right now. But should b up. I needed to get an extension too. Remember to burp the system too. If u follow lexls.com... u should b burping it too. Good Luck Tom
  18. well for me.... so far... my cv shaft is still up n running. Didnt experience n e problems yet. But i didn't have it on for more than 5 yrs. I bought mine from Advanced Auto Parts... n they had a lifetime warranty of some sort that if it goes bad... they would replace it. I didn't really check up on it... cause i would have bought it from them n e wayz... cause of the price. The weather up in Plattsburgh can b vicious. -40's during the winter months with lots of snow n road salts. So far so good since it's holding up. We'll c in anohter 3 yrs. We have put quite a lot of miles on it since then as well. Been driving up n down from NYC n Plattsburgh through many many different weather. The only problem i had when i put the CV Shaft on was that my ABS brake light has come on the dash :chairshot: . Everytime i start the car it isn't on... but as i drive n apply the brakes... it starts to pulsate n eventually the ABS light comes on... n then no ABS brakes. I dont know if the shaft has n e thing to do with it... though i suspect it could b the mechanic... cause it's one of those CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP labor mechanics that i had it installed. But i was watching him doing it the whole time... i literally shadowed him n asked him numberous questions... didn't seem to b doing n e thing wrong... but then again... my knowledge on cars is very limited. He did seem a lil rough on it. Does n e one know the answer on wut may b wrong? Tom
  19. I'm not arguing with anyone. Nor am i trying to choose sides... as i'm sure the post will probably make it look so. I just want to say is that most things you do to the car is at your own risks if you don't follow what the FSM states. But i'm sure we have the engineers dumping these things to their own cars.... even mechanics. Mechanics constantly tear down engines and put them back up... i'm sure someone would have said something about it. Granted i don't nearly have much of a mechanical knowledge nor have i driven a car that long.... but i'm ASSUMING Seafoam is a great product if applied correctly. I haven't heard that much negative comments about them... but who am i to judge. But i have heard many raves about it... not only from LOC... but from the outside world. I'm not picking on u monarch or anyone for that matter. This is my assumption on the topic n for that matter. But Toys have shown something remarkable to me... n has some pictures for me to see. I dont know if i can do that to my own vehicle since i don't even know how to take the whole engine apart... but it shows that the product does work... if used properly... even if it was used improperly... he hasn't shown me n e thing that has been damaged YET. Who knows... perhaps u could b right 5-10 yrs down the line... n then u can tell us "I TOLD U SO." U can leave the car as is... and do preventative measures. Nothing wrong with that... if u lose fuel economy etc... then fix it accordingly. If i put seafoam... i'm just purely taking the easy step out short of bringing to the mechanic. If a can that cost me $6 and can even help me a little... i wouldn't mind doing that... as i am poor as hell. Speaking of which... does n e one know if i can put another treatments of Seafoam in my gas tank. The last time i put the treatment was 2 tanks ago... i dont know if it would do something. I'm going to do a partial tune up soon. Thanks. Tom
  20. thats great news. I'm glad everything worked out well. Congrats Tom
  21. i dont know about the computer... someone might b able to shine in on the subject... as for white smoke... hmmmm... i'm taking a stab at it... if they cleaned something.... then it will smoke up for a while. The white smoke can be from anything though. Some coolant leaks into the engine... n it will smoke up. Cleaning the Engine with other chemicals... etc. Give it a couple of days of driving... hopefully it will die down a bit. If it continues to smoke up... then have it checked up. But i'm assuming if he cleaned it... u'll seriously need to wait for it to clear up. Good luck.. . n keep us posted Tom
  22. I think PMing wont work until u hit a certain number of posts. I'm guessing around 20ish. Tom
  23. i'm not sure if this could b it... but if i remember correctly on ur other post...that the light is out when u have the headlights on right? Did u check the light dimmer? Cause if u have it off or low... when u switch on ur headlights... they will go to that setting.... n when u turn ur headlights off... they will b on bright as da day. Let me know Tom
  24. out of curiosity... r we PMing u or r we posting it up? I'll sleep on it tonight in hopes of coming up with a good one. Tom
  25. wow... that is a coincidence. I say go n play the lotto n hopefully u'll win big Glad u got the car working now. Tom
