  1. Why would you even consider using a spark plug that uses copper instead of platinum? Is it to save a few bucks? :chairshot:
  2. I agree with you, if you agree with this statement.
  3. My whole point was to say, Maintain moderate speed until engine is warm. ;)
  4. I sorta disagree with SW03ES on this point. Any engine that's very cold should be started and run for about a minute before driving. This is to insure that the lubrication gets to all the points of friction. After driving off you should run the car easily until it reaches operating temperature. This link explains it better than me: Cold engine
  5. That is a volume control(twist left or right) that changes the loudness of the sound when you use the remote lock on the ignition key. Example: You get out of the car and press the button on the key. The beeping sound volume can be adjusted by this knob. I leave mine in the full volume position because it's not very loud even in the full up position.;)
  6. You left absolutely no information in your profile! The year of your car makes a difference in how to change your air conditioner filter. Also, this has been discussed before, so you should try the "search" function before posting.
  7. This is a normal situation by design. The upshifts are delayed until the engine reaches a predetermined temperature. This is established by the ECM.
  8. Yup, I got a First Aid Kit in my '94ES and also my '"03ES......luckily I never had to use them. :D
  9. It shouldn't hurt the engine since it's not operating over the redline on the tach, but your gas mileage will suffer and your engine life will be shortened, a small degree.
  10. Are you sure your shift selector is in "D" and not in "4"? If it is in "D" and your RPM is about 3100 @ 70mph, then there is definitely something wrong! I had the ECU upgrade done and it didn't affect the gearing, all it did was to change the shift characteristics. My car is about 2300RPM @ 70MPH. Try this: Drive at 70MPH in "D" and watch your tachometer, then shift into "4" and see if you get a difference in the tachometer reading. Please let us know your results.
  11. Ronald, After reading some of your posts, I'd like to thank you for your thoroughness & detail in doing certain repairs. They are really a pleasure to read because of your literate descriptions, and proper spelling. Great job.
  12. You really don't have to warm up the car before heading out. A couple of minutes is sufficient. Just drive it easy until the temperature gauge shows it's up to operating temperature. Keep your tires inflated to the proper PSI. Make sure you have the proper coolant concentration in your radiator. The window washer bottle should have an anti-freeze solution instead of plain water. If you bring your car to a carwash, have them wash the undercarriage if possible. This helps to get the corrosive road salt off the car.
  13. I said that in my above post! That's the only way I could get the filter loose. That was my trick also. ;)
  14. Lower the octane fuel you're using. heehee :D
  15. 30mpg city and 50mpg highway. In my dreams. :D :D :D
  16. I never had any luck using a cap wrench with a filter that was on tight! I made sure that the wrench was the right size, but it slipped anyway.
  17. Good luck with your new car. :D What color & equipment did you get? Also, what is a plastic bag test and claying?
  18. That shouldn't happen! If the vacuum booster fails you can still stop the car, but you have to press the brake pedal harder.
  19. On my '94 ES they stole 3 of the lug nuts on one wheel.
  20. Check the hoses going to the booster first. If it's not the hoses than it could be something within the booster itself. I would make sure it's coming from that area though. No need to replace something that isn't at fault.
  21. Yes....the server crashed and they didn't have a backup........ :chairshot:
  22. It could be a slight vacuum leak near the power brake vacuum booster. Just a thought.
  23. LOC's database was corrupted, so you should check the dates of posts that you respond to, otherwise your answer will be very much out of date. It seems that ALL the posts in every thread from the middle of September until October 21st. are gone forever. :(
  24. I changed the oil & filter on my '94ES for 9 years, but I'll always remember the first time I tried removing the filter. I struggled for many hours, with every type of filter wrench I could get my hands on with poor results. I finally tore open the filter with a screwdriver and removed it. It seems that dealers screw the filters on much too tight. After that experience I screwed on the filter, hand tight, and I never had this unforgettable experience anymore. :chairshot:
