  1. I doubt that it's a bad fuse, but stranger things have happened.
  2. Don't use engine braking by downshifting, if possible! It definitely puts an added strain on the transmission and WILL shorten it's life. Repairing brakes are a lot cheaper then a transmission repair. ;)
  3. It could be expensive or not....... but that you will have to find out after it's checked. In the meantime, the brakes will work OK, except you won't have the ABS feature working.
  4. When you turn on the ignition the car goes through a series of self checks, one of which is the ABS system. If the light comes on after these checks it's indicating that there is a problem. It could be anywhere in the braking system.
  5. mburnickas- Please explain this statement since oil is the only means of lubricating metal to metal parts.
  6. Welcome to the club- It could be a simple thing such as a disconnected wire to the wheel sensor, but it also could mean something more serious which could be checked out with a code reader. Unless you have the equipment or knowledge I'd bring it to a reliable shop or your Lexus dealer to have it looked at. ;)
  7. That's correct. The black lead is the ground wire, so there is no need for a plastic cap to protect against short circuits since the metal of the whole car is grounded. ;)
  8. My mistake.......I should read the posts more carefully.
  9. Something wrong here.......the installation of a timing belt by a Lexus dealer runs into the hundreds of $$$$, NOT $40 bucks! :chairshot:
  10. Could this beeping mean that the trunk lid is not closed fully?
  11. My dealer claims they use 10W-30 year round, and I'm located in Brooklyn, New York. On my previously owned '94ES I always used 5W-30, which is what was recommended in the Owners Manual. I never burned any oil between oil changes(5000miles), and never had any problems. ;)
  12. You can checkout this website for more information:McGard Wheel Locks
  13. Change that to: LOC has members of every age from 16 to 72...they're all here! :P
  14. The amount of water that drips under your car is totally dependent upon the ambient humidity in the air. As said before, I wouldn't be too concerned about this.
  15. It's just blowing off excess moisture from the evaporator and inside the cabin. ;)
  16. I just went to my car and listened for the clicking sound. I think it's the fuel pump making that noise and not the headlight levelers. I really don't think there is anything to be concerned about though. ;)
  17. To check if the clicking is caused by the headlights adjusting, try keeping the light control in the off position. Do this by turning the control on the stalk fully clockwise, then try turning on the ignition. If this noise continues in that position it's not the headlight adjusting causing this. As said before, it could be the ABS checking out the braking system. The ABS system is located under the hood on the passenger side near the windshield washer bottle.
  18. Very Strange. Make sure you're using the proper type of bulbs. Some sockets use 2 filament types. Also, the fact that they started working properly again leads me to believe that there still is a problem with the contacts in the sockets or bulbs. I doubt whether "shocking" the turn signal is knocking out the operation. The resistance of the turn signal is a balanced operation, and if any part of this equation is wrong they'll either flash more quickly, or less quickly, or not at all. The turn signal bulbs have bayonet bases with uneven tangs to prevent you from putting them in backwards. If by chance you forced them into the socket the contacts will not line up and thereby prevent a good contact. I think that Radio Shack sells a spray on contact cleaner & conditioner. I use "Caig Brand ProGold G5 Spray" for certain electronic components......but this product is pretty expensive.
  19. The car looks pretty, but the girls look prettier.
  20. SK has a good point.......I forgot that the lights have to be on before the glove compartment light will work.
  21. I know that this is what Lexus recommends, but on my '94ES I changed the oil myself for 8 years of ownership and I never replaced the washer.......and I never had a leak.
  22. Tha's the kind of roads we need more of in New York City! :o
