  1. What was the results of the compression test? If any of the cylinders were more then 10% lower(psi) then the other cylinders, then it indicates either poor piston rings or leaky valves.
  2. Have the rotors resurfaced. They'll tell you before they resurface it if you have enough metal to be able to do it, otherwise you might have to buy new rotors. You might also need new brake pads. ;)
  3. Maybe that's an expiration date like they have on containers of milk. ha ha.
  4. One of the biggest problems is that the majority of cars that dealers take in trade are those that were originally leased. A large percentage of these owners don't give a rap how these cars were serviced because they know that after the lease period they're going to trade it in. I've seen and heard this attitude from the many people that I've talked to. That's why a service record is very nice to have, if not for anything else but to check if the previous owner really cared for the car properly.
  5. Excellent advice on all the previous posts! ;)
  6. I always thought that all the ES 300's from '92 thru '01 came with full size spare tires on metal wheels, and starting with the '02's to the present they mounted the spares on alloy rims.(The same type as on the rest of the car).
  7. I was also told that AVS is still considered an option.
  8. Not so! Yesterday I spoke to Santa Monica Lexus(CA) and I was told that they have the '05 ES's with AVS in stock. ;) P.S. Go to Lexus.com and put in a California Zip, then 'build your Lexus'. You'll see that in NO option package is AVS mentioned.
  9. My car shift's as smooth as any car I have ever driven, and I have driven everything from Rolls Royce's to Kia's. The problem is with the idiosyncrasies that these transmissions exhibit under certain conditions.
  10. No way.......There are still many, many complaints concerning the '04 ES transmission shifting. In fact, this problem also affects most cars in the Lexus model lineup, including their Flagship, LS430. ;)
  11. Here's a list of the TSB's for the 2002 Lexus ES 300, although, I didn't see anything related to your problem. :( http://www.alldata.com/TSB/31/02310308.html
  12. It seems that Lexus is no longer offering AVS(Adaptive Variable Suspension) in their 2005 ES330's in the USA. I searched their website, from the East Coast to the Central States and all the way to California to see it listed in their options packages, but no AVS. Maybe I'm missing something? I see it's still offered in Canada though. Update: I just spoke to a California Lexus dealer(Santa Monica), and they told me that they still have the AVS in the 2005 ES's, yet when you want to build your car from their website they still don't show AVS listed. Strange, very strange!
  13. It looks like the answer is NO!!
  14. You look pretty nice in both pictures. Oh yeah, when you click on your link, 'My 1994 ES 300, it doesn't seem to work. I tried it in two different browsers.
  15. Stevie- Here he is. He's the one on the left.
  16. I really don't know if the '03 has this light.....I'll have to check further.
  17. Hey Steve- That's a great tip! I never realized it was so simple. Thanks.
  18. I'm hysterical. LOL :D It bears a strong resemblance to SK....wouldn't you say? :P
  19. The "Lexus Factory Service Manual" will show you the location.......but these manuals are expensive, unless you can find one on eBay.
  20. It sounds like it's the same problem. If you open the moonroof, there are drain holes that are probably clogged. You have to use a snake to clean them out.
  21. It's probably a blown fuse. The Lexus price for the fuse is $19.95 and at your local auto parts place it's about 10¢. heehee :D
  22. Is this a Canadian Mountie?
  23. You're talking about Canadian currency, right? The conversion to US currency is: $104 Canadian = $79.54 US. That was at noon today. I think I'll bring my car up to Canada for service since it's a lot cheaper then here in the states. :D
  24. The AVS (Adaptive Variable Suspension) just changes the shock absorbers valving. It does NOT change the ride height. ;)
