  1. I would let it go already and chalk it up to your experience. This is not the first time nor the last that these things will happen. At this point I feel like it's beating a dead horse. <_<
  2. When I bought my '03 the salesman told me that it was a good idea to use the 4 position around town, and the D position on the highway. Actually the D position is like an overdrive so you'll get slightly better gas mileage since the engine RPM is slower. On the other hand using 4 will give you slightly better performance at slower speeds because it locks out the final gearing. Either way, you won't hurt the engine regardless what you decide on. :)
  3. That's the kind of fools that you have to deal with today. :chairshot:
  4. I never liked the quality of sound from any kind of signal that goes through a modulator, unless it's the kind of modulator that costs mucho bucks. The kind that are sold for automotive CD or Cassette players are terrible......and this includes Satellite radios. The best way is to have the signal go directly into the amplifier.
  5. Keep checking ebay. BTW: My '94 ES changer worked just fine right up to the time I traded it in, in '03.
  6. Good luck.......I'm eagerly awaiting your next post and hope it'll be a positive one.
  7. Yes, you do have a PCV valve and its connected to the valve cover. If you can't find it go to your neighborhood friendly mechanic to point it out to you. :)
  8. Will there be a line, "Mark Forum Read" in this upgrade? P.S. Never mind......I found it.
  9. You can call the Lexus Corporation at: 800-255-3987
  10. If the PCV valve is stuck in a closed position excessive pressure is built up in the crankcase which in turn could push the oil through the seals. I would check out the operation of this valve to make sure its working properly, besides it's an inexpensive part. ;)
  11. I think a tune up is in order. Generally, a car with 70K miles shouldn't have a large enough buildup of carbon to cause this pinging. ;)
  12. I definitely feel that a complaint to the Lexus Corporation is in order! It's true that some dealerships play this game, but the Lexus Corporation monitors it's dealerships that fail to meet their standards. Luckily, I haven''t had any problems with my home dealer or others.......so far.
  13. I don't think that you have anything to worry about. 2 seconds is really not a long time for the starter to crank. ;)
  14. Do you have to add any oil during change intervals and if so how much?
  15. nicksan: Did you ever get over to BayRidge Lexus to have them look at your car, and if you did how was your experience there? I had the same flickering in my '94ES interior lights when hitting the brake pedal and turning on the lights until I replaced the battery, so I still feel you should get it changed first.
  16. Get used to it.....it ain't going to go away! ;) Good luck with your new purchase anyway. :D
  17. Does the engine burn any oil? I was thinking that the back pressure from decelerating causes oil to get into the combustion chamber which could foul the spark plug(s) temporarily. Check your PCV valve.
  18. That's a tough question to answer accurately since there are too many factors involved. Knowing the history of the car is pretty important. Such as, was the battery ever completely discharged and re-charged? Was the car subjected to using a lot of the accessories. What type of weather conditions was the battery used in mostly. These things will shorten the battery life. On my '94ES, used mostly in the NYC area, the original Lexus battery lasted about 4 years, and the second battery, a Sears Diehard Gold lasted about 6 years. Personally, I would get a new battery. ;)
  19. The (-) wire goes to the frame of the car. It should not affect the operation of the GPS or the radio reception.
  20. The cleaning disc has little brushes mounted on the disc that wipes off dust or dirt that might have accumulated on the laser lens. ;)
  21. The cars look great........I see all the pics. Now your next project is to straighten out the garage. heehee.
  22. Thanks for your replies. I went ahead an ordered from Verizon the LG VX4500. It got a decent write up and has all the necessary things that I was looking for. If I don't like it I can return it within 15 days.
  23. It could simply be dirt on the laser lens. The first thing I would try is a laser lens cleaning disc. They're sold all over for a few bucks. ;)
  24. Thanks for your response, but I don't think the Motorola MPX 200 has speakerphone ability and even if it did, I don't know whether I could use it with my Verizon Wireless Service. :( P.S. One other question: Do you feel I made a mistake by ordering an all digital phone rather then a tri-mode? As you can probably tell, I'm really not to well versed in cellphone technology.
  25. Could any of you knowledgeable gentleman recommend a good cellphone that has a 2-way speakerphone and NO camera. I have Verizon service and I'm in area code 11235? I am considering the LG VX4500, but I'd like your opinion. Thanx.
