  1. Hi Paul and welcome to the LOC. It's always nice to have someone come over from the dark side! Nice ride. At 80,000, your just getting it broke in. Glad you like it so much and keep all of us informed about any mods you do. I'll let some of the real wrenchers answer your questions. Paul
  2. Hello Victor and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. I have looked at the web site for a Lexus dealer in Dallas, Texas. They have a large inventory of North American dvd's for a wide variety of models. I don't know from your desricption if they will have the exact one, but I think this might be one of your best bets. There name is Sewell Lexus. Go to: www. Sewelllexus.com Good Luck Paul
  3. Hi Paul, seems like I have met you somewhere, not sure but you look familiar. have a great day.. Good to see you Billy! I think the face lift has done wonders for me don't you?
  4. Hi John and welcome to the LOC. We're glad you decided to join us. Even though the side bar to the left says "Guru Member", I have no idea what your problem is. Sorry. Seriously, It obviously has to be conncted to the steps you took in replacing the components I would think. Do you have a diagram/layout of both fuse boxes showing which one protect what circuits? Some on here have found that you can't just take a flashlight and look at the fuse, you need to take it OUT and look at it directly it strong light to make sure it's not blown. I'm wondering if one of the circuits that might not be working could be the fuel pump or the fuse that handles the fuel injectors. Might explain why it will start reluctantly but can't stay running. However, I am not familiar with this year or model so I will disavow any knowledge of this conversation should none of this be of any help. LOL Tommorow, when the week starts going, traffic on the site will pickup and some others will start chiming in. Please let us know how things are going. Paul
  5. Hi Jim and welcome to your Lexus Owners Club. So far, it looks like no one has loged in with a solution. I am not an expert with this type of problem but do have one thing that you might check. I know little about the 98' year models, but in the latter year cars, there is a 120-140 amp fuse that is on top of the alternator. I would think that taking a hit like crossing the two poles together might blow that link. It is not a ordinary little auto fuse, it is a special bolt on style if my memory is correct. However, remember, I'm not sure your model year even has this fuse. P.S. I did a search of the forum and found this reference to the fuse on a 93 lexus. So hopefully this may help you fix the problem!!. "I have an 93 sc400 lexus and the alternator fuse has went out and i have no power to my car except the headlghts. I'm trying to figure how to take the fuse out to replace it. It looks like its in by ascrew but its an bolt i was wondering is there anyone out there has changed one or can tell me what to look for if I'm having alternator problems" Paul
  6. Hi Brian and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. I don't know the answer to your question but i Hope someone else can jump in here and help you out. From my own experience with my two cars, especially my ES350, my remote start actually unlocks the doors when I start up the car. I have to use the remote to re-lock the doors once it's started if I'm going to let it just sit and warm up while in a parking lot or such. And this installation was done by my dealer. The problem is that everything is interfaced through a spider web of processors. And the security, immobilizer program won't let you bypass all their stuff. My Volvo has other issues. When you start it remotely, it locks the doors just fine. But, when you get in and insert the electronic cartridge, hit the start button, it starts up just fine. When you put your foot on the brake to place it in gear, it dies. The security override thinks someone is trying to steal the car. This too was installed by the dealer. Sorry to ramble on, but somtimes it not as simple as it seems. Good luck. Paul
  7. The maintenance light is just for your routine service. Oil change, filter, etc.. Unfortunatly it had nothing to do with making your FM work. lol Have no idea why it worked in one and not the other, but it could be a loose connection in the plug jack. Good listening!
  8. I imagine that the GM has already been aware of the issue since it was kicked up to Lexus Customer Service. They had the pictures that the dealer sent to them and Lexus would have called the dealer to determine what the settelment would be. But, making an appointment with the GM/owner might get you farther than a showroom ambush. I'm just saying that in talking to the people at my dealer who are close friends, Lexus rides them pretty hard when things get to the point where the customer calls Lexus. Personaly, I would probably be so p.....ed of by now, that I would drive the car into the service drop off, get out, take the keys, and walk away. LOL......Yeah, would'nt do any good or help me out, but sure would feel good watching them try to figure out what to do with that car.
  9. Hi Roger and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. I'm sorry, but I don't really understand your question. Are you saying that in your 2009 RX, your AM/FM radio does not put out any sound? You use the term "transmitter". Does this mean you have a device that is transmitting a signal on a FM band, but you can't hear it over your radio in your RX? Or. are you talking just about problems with trying to interface your iPod with the RX system. Again, sorry, but could you clarify a little more what the problem is. Paul
  10. Hi Will, A suggestion I would have is to go to UnitedRadio.com in Syracuse, NY and see if they can do the repairs you need. They come recomended to me by my Lexus dealer and do warranty work for Mark Levinson systems. Paul
  11. The obvious answer is aliens......kidding! Hi Tom and welcome to the LOC. That's a new one. It could be a short/loose wire connection, bad solder joint that only acts up once in awhile. For example, as it warms up during the day or cools dowm, a solder joint could expand or contract thus making or braking a connection. Hard to say. Do you have an mp3 player pluged in to it? When I plug in my mp3 it automatically turns off the power to the whole sound system every time I start the car. No one knows why. Best advice is to take it to your dealer because it is a good bet no on else around will know how to work on it. Paul
  12. I think the point is beyond the $250 bucks. Why should he or you pay anything for something that your/their contract says they agreed to. When you bought your LS, or when this gentleman layed out $40-50 grand for his GS would you think Lexus might pony up for a measly $250 bucks? Seeeeez. It really boils down to this. If your dealer wont take care of a nit like this, what will he do when the valves go bad like they did once before. I don't think I'd worry to much about alienating the dealer because he has already alienated the customer. Remember, we, are the customer, not Lexus.
  13. Hi Aaron. Just wanted to say welcome to the club and let you know that your post has been acknowleged. I don't know the answer to your question, but others will chime in here and help you out. Again, welcome. Paul
  14. I still think small claims court is your best alternative to a $250 hit. It cost almost nothing to file, and will force them to PROVE that the cracks are from your actions. I don't know how they could do that, and how they could escape the warranty clause. It is such a small amount of money that I believe any judge would rule inyour favor since no one likes a bully. Paul
  15. Hi Kara and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. 21" sounds balmy!....since it's 10' here (Des Moines).lol I am not an expert, some of those will chime in here latter, but I would agree with your friend. Alternator. Maybe the belt is what was screaching. Feel free to take advantage of your membership and post as often as you like. Paul
  16. Hi Stephen and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. Please take advantage of your membership and post as often as you'd like. I have never used the Weather Tech product, but have had excellent luck with Lloyd custom mats. I know they come in several styles. Have you tried the Lexus mats?...... Paul
  17. Hi Phil. I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you problem off hand, but I did want say welcome to the LOC. Feel free to continue posting as needed and to share your knowledge. Others will come along here and chime in re; your situation. Paul
  18. Hi Rena, Jim is ALMOST always right about these things. But seriously, the navigation package is a standard option for Lexus models as is the spoiler for several other models. Even my sedate ES350. The most important thing here is the fact that you live in British Columbia. What a beautiful place. I hope someday to drive our Lexus up through B.C. just to take in the scenery and bears....oh my!
  19. Hi XRX. This problem comes up from time to time and there are only a few safe things to try short of going to the dealer, IMO. The first, if there is no power to the radio/unit, check the fuse in the fuse box. Secondly, If that is alright, disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery and leave it off for about 10-15 minutes. This allows the CD changer to reset itself and sometimes will clear the error message. It also may allow you to eject that CD. This is not fool proof. Even after all of this, the dealer may be your best choice. Paul
  20. Hi Michelle and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club! When my wife and I have visited Maui, we have not stayed at hotels, but have choosen the better option of renting a condo or villa for a week or so. You can find several web sites showing several condos for rent on the island that are beautuful properties, competitive with hotels in price, and usually offer several bedrooms, kitchen, lanai, etc. Some of these are right on the beach. But, as you know, the closer you get to the beach. the more you pay. Let us know how you come out. P.S. To bad you can't take your RX with you! Paul
  21. First, try contacting "dcfish" on our board. He is a member and a approved vendor for Lexus audio equipment. Since your a very new member, you do not yet have privlages to Privately Message someone. I will PM "dcfish" for you and ask him to respond. Paul
  22. I'm not an expert, but I'll throw out a couple of thoughts. Did you check that the new head unit was fully compatible with that old amplifier. Are you sure you have the right wiring harness? If I were to offer one best recommendation for the best results, replace the ampifier with a new one matched to the new HU. The results will be well worth the few extra dollars and scracting your head your going through now. Paul
  23. I think the only way to know is: 1. Take the measurments of each and see if they are the same. I don't know of any source that will tell you this. 2. Check to see if both woofers are the same impedance.(ohms) 3.You would be far better of and get the real bass sound you want, by putting in a seperate ampllifier and sub woofer in the trunk. An 8" or 10" speaker would do a great job.
  24. I too like the looks of the new sedan. Over the last few years, i have been impressed with Cadilacs willingness to push the edge a little on some of their styling. Yes the sharp angle, chiseled look has about run it's course, and you can see in this model a softening of those lines and angles. But, the fact that they went out on a limb to make their cars look like no others took some guts. Did it pay off...I guess will see. My Lexus dealer also sells Caddy. The ones I have driven have been extremely dissapointing compared to a Lexus. The Caddy's offer a soft ride, but so soft they tend to roll from side to side on turns. I'm not talking test track turns, but on/off ramps at reasonable speeds. Visability was difficult; the windshield seemed to short. The soft ride was so soft; you never felt like you were connected to the road surface. I hope I get a chance to drive this new model. I imagine it will be greatly improved.
