  1. My 2010 ES is the same color on the side of the console as in the picture above. However, I drove an ES 2010 loaner and it had the tone that you described. I bet SW03ES would know the answer. Paul
  2. I did not have the ML in my 05' ES and when I bought my 2010 I had the system on the top of my list. I sat in a ML equipped car for a long time and then sat in a non ML car. I came away unimpressed with the Mark Levinson. It's not that the ML system is not good, it sounds pretty good. It is just that it's not THAT good. For example, it only has a a 3 band equalizer when a system like that, at that price, should have at least a 6-10 band spread. After I listened to the Lexus system, I decided I could add a small sub woofer in the trunk with an amp for about $300 and get a good respectable system with good highs and a great bottom. If you enjoy music as much as you do, you will always like your ML investment. For a several dollars less you can have a very enjoyable system with a few modifications. I would recommend doing a search of the forum to see if you can find some other opinions. The ML system comes up every now and then and should be easy to find. Paul
  3. It does seem like every other car is a shade of silver. In fact my neighbor just bought a new Avalon. Silver. I was concerned about my Black Saphire Pearl being hard to keep clean, but so far it's not to bad. How's the Truffle Mica doing? Paul
  4. Sounds pretty cool but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to try red with my current Parchment interior. I just not man enough yet. LOL Paul
  5. I really like your new Lloyd mats. I bought a set in a lighter sand color for my wife's car with the monogram as well. Paul
  6. New report from DuPont paints. http://www.autoblog.com/2010/12/07/worlds-most-popular-car-color-silver-under-threat-from-black/
  7. Could be Jim, kind of unclear. With both my ES330 and 350 the head units for those models had a combo AM/SAT button and in my experience meant the unit was prepped for reception with activation. I read the post to mean the unit had a SAT button. Please areich12, let me know what you find out. Thanks Jim, Paul
  8. I guess I'm the odd man out. I haven't had any engine noise issues with my 10' ES. I am just passing 1700 miles and there has been no piston slap nor any low cycle rumbling at idle like you described. My 330 was a little quieter at idle when you stood outside the car, but thats all. Everyone that rides with me always remarks on "how quiet your car is!" Paul

So basically, you jacked up the dome light and built a whole new car underneath!!! LOL Keep at it. Paul
  10. You have several things going on here. First, I think the dealer misspoke when they said it had to be wired for it. They should have said it needed to be equipped from the factory to receive satellite radio signals. However, if as you say, your radio has a SAT button on it then your radio is already equipped for satellite reception. What needs to be done, is to have XM ACTIVATE the radio so it will start recognizing the XM signal and you can rock out. In my opinion Meinike,Midas,Jiffy Lube, and the like, should never come within a mile of a Lexus. It sounds like you bought this car pre-owned so the previous owner probably used the "free" trial offer and you will not be able to take advantage of that. To activate the radio, tune the stations to 000, and the eight character ID number will appear in the display. Go to "XM Radio Customer Service" on the Web and you can sign up for your service. If you want, there is also an 800 number you can call for a warm body. I would not hold my breath regarding negotiating a $5 price. Hope this helps. Paul

You impressed the heck out of me! I didn't know you could swap a Lexus part on a Celica drive train. Welcome to LOC. Paul
  12. How about a link that would help this person find your write-up. So I should search for the link for them? Not trying to be a !Removed!, but they have access to the same resources that I do. Why should I do all of the work? You don't have to do a thing! But, you stated that you had authored an article/tutorial? regarding the inquired subject, and if you had wanted someone to read it you might have posted a link to that article so someone could easily admire your work. The way it is, your just being useless. Paul
  13. Glad to hear your considering a Lexus. You could probably answer many of your questions while driving one for the first time. Thats how impressive I feel the Lexus family of products are. I'm going to depart from Jim here and say I have always liked the styling on the SC430. It is definitely different but, if you want to drive a car that looks like every other coupe on the road, then the SC is not for you. I like the way they sculpted the rear end and when the top is off it looks really cool. With the very low amount of miles you drive, either one of your choices would probably be OK. A well maintained Lexus should go well into the high 100,000k without breathing hard. Paul
  14. I am very impressed. Not just with the super results, but your talent and intellect as well. You obviously have a talent and as LEXIRX said, could do it for money. Keep it up! Paul
  15. That invisible ink is hard to make out! ......(sorry about the link goof) http://autos.aol.com/article/what-people-drive-where/
  16. Latest research article by region. Do you agree?? Paul
  17. To my knowledge many 2010 Lexus models in the U.S. have USB ports. However, some of these models run the USB input controls through the Navigation system. Also, there are great differences by country as to what features and options are offered on various models. I believe there are I-POD adapters made to work with your aux. input. Enter a search on the forum and you should find some strings. Paul
  18. If the wiper control stalk is in the "on" position,(first notch down), and the delay setting ring around the stalk has been turned to different settings, and the rain sensor is firmly stuck to the glass, and the windshield wipers work in the other 2 positions, you have pretty much exhausted all possible operating issues. The sensor may be bad. There is no diagnostic codes to my knowledge. Open your wallet and see your dealer. Faster and will fix the problem. Paul
  19. Hi there Intaker, One of those teachable moments if you would; Why do the instruments/relays get this way and why does disconnecting the power versus pulling the fuses work. I really appreciate your taking the time to explain. See Ya, Paul
  20. This is a question with no definitive answer. In other words, it depends. In my personal opinion, I would not buy a car with that many miles on it. At that point in any cars life, things will one by one need to be worked on or replaced and I am not a wrencher nor do I want to spend time fixing things on weekends. On the other hand, if you are experienced and like to work on and repair cars, this might be for you. But the most important decision point of all is whats the price?? If the cost of acquisition is low enough to offset the eventual repairs, it might be worth considering. Again, IMO, proceed with caution. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Paul
  21. Hi John, If as you say, the radio head already has a SAT button you already have SAT radio capability. Hopefully in your owners manual someone would have left a note with the radio ID number. If not, push the SAT button and tune the radio station to "0". An eight digit number should appear in the display. This is the XM Radio ID number. Call XM Listener Care Service at 1-877-515-3987. This number is for new subscribers. They will be able to activate your radio while your on the phone. Enjoy! Paul
  22. That should read "2012". Sorry!
  23. Road & Track says Lexus GS-F may finally come out on 2010 along with other refreshed GS series. Paul
  24. Hey Paul, I've got aftermarket Mille Miglia wheels I bought from Tire Rack in a snow tire package in 2003. They look great and are of high quality but I now realize a problem with buying aftermarket wheels -- models come and go and it can be impossible to find a replacement if one is ruined. I recommend finding a set of OEM Lexus wheels to use with your snow tires -- maybe check Craigslist for Des Moines or eBay. You might even find a set of "takeoff" wheels at the Lexus dealer -- that's what I did in 1990 when I bought my first LS. Good luck, Jim Thanks Jim. Just what I needed to know. We are having flurries here so I better get on the ball with this matter. Have a good one! Paul
